Inscription over door of the house of Jacob and Eliesabeht Schollau (Schallau), which was completed in 1734.
"God protect me from fire and brand
Protect me through His gracious hand"
"MIOSTEREIER" may be M IOST MEIER for "Master Jost Meier" or "Master Jostmeier" -- the builder of the house. "Jostmeier" is a surname known in this region. (Some letters may have become altered during multiple renewals of the inscription over the last 290 years.)
Jacob and Eliesabeht Schollau are our great-great-great-great-great-great grandparents. Jacob Schollau was born in 1673 and died in 1749.

No sé si el perro es el mejor amigo del hombre, pero sí sé que este hombre es mi mejor amigo y hoy es su cumpleaños. ¡Feliz cumpleaños hermano del alma!
Amo esta foto porque es absolutamente imperfecta. El foco está suave y está movida. Las verticales van para cualquier lado. El encuadre es algo tenso. Tiene manchas del proceso y se perdió detalle de las sombras.
La amo porque me transporta al momento, porque me parece un dibujo, y porque me recuerda que puedo convivir con fotos imperfectas (e incluso puedo quererlas mucho). Y siento que, en este inicio de año, me hace bien recordar que no necesito perfección. No necesitamos perfección, de ningún tipo.

I love this picture because it's absolutely imperfect. The focus is soft, and the image is blurred by the movement. Vertical lines are all over the place. The composition is a bit tense. There's stains from the processing and I Iost some details in the shadows.
I love it because it takes me back to the moment, because it feels like a drawing to me, and because it reminds me I can live with imperfect pictures (and I can even love them dearly). And on this beginning of a new year, it feels like it's good for me to remember that I don't need perfection. We don't need perfection, of any kind.

晚上去看了電影「墨水心」。
原著小說三部曲剛剛出完，第一部曲的電影才上映，帶著一些期待去看，果然也沒失望。
重點：墨水心有你可能看過的哈利波特、魔戒、獅子女巫魔衣櫥等電影的奇幻特效與想像，但是多了很多屬於文字創作的因素在裡面，尤其看在我這樣文字工作者的眼裡，會反思許多我們閱讀故事及書寫故事的習慣。
結局沒有明顯為續集埋下伏筆，驚險畫面雖然沒有哈利波特或魔戒那麼多，但是幽默感和所有人物的動機都非常自然流暢，我欣賞許多配角份量與作用的安排，不像很多電影或故事當中，只出現一下下就不見了，而且可能沒有什麼太特別的作用。
想了解小說故事作者心中世界的人必看。
不管你看過原著沒有，都很值得一看。

...I haven't seen my stylist since I Iost my job, so my roots are ten months long. I finally freaked out about it and bought a box of semi-permanent hair color, hoping to lift my mousy brown roots a bit to match what's left of my old highlighted honey brown color.
Weekly Photo Assignment - Lakes or Ponds
SOOC ~ Hot, hazy with bright sunshine. The water was magnificent!
It doesn't look terribly big, but trust me this was a 50+ foot sailboat! She was a beauty.
Tried a couple different crops of this. Didn't like what I Iost so left it as is.
The man and his wife who stopped and took this photograph just after my accident, was none other than another Concours rider (Dave Prebble had just done an official Iron Butt Ride across Canada. Front tire dipped in the Atlantic in St John's and then again in Victoria Island a few days later). My brother Jim had just given me those chaps as a gift when he arrived for a visit earlier that summer, on his new Vulcan 1500. Turned out to be the perfect gift. I've since switched to real road pants.
I Iost some meat off my body in two places: the palm of my right hand (through two pairs of gloves), and my right ass cheek. Chaps are fine for cowboys, or at 'certain' clubs, but your ass isn't covered. Cover your ass.
