Rehearsing with Iolo Williams in front of interested visitors in the grounds.

Now, we are at the read of the stock, and some photos going to the front.

The "I" is for "IOLO", this is David's Maker's Mark, and this indicates that the bow is made in his shop, under his oh so very wise and knowledgeable eye... heh!

1st August 2016 at Ham Marquee, Sidmouth.

Sidmouth Folk Week.

Country: Britain - Wales. Style: Welsh / InterCeltic Folk.

Lineup: Jamie Smith (v/piano accordion), Oliver Wilson-Dickson (fiddle), Ron Juppy (g), Matt Downer (b/bass g), Iolo Whelan (d).

This group started out in 1999 as Mabon playiing tunes of mainly Welsh music. The acoustic quartet included Jamie Smith and Iolo Whelan, plus the former's father and latter's brother. Then came Whelan's move to a drum kit, the adding of the bass, Smith taking up singing, a focus on Smith's compositions and the change of name. They call their music "InterCeltic" to acknowlege influnces from various countries, though they carry on doing some songs in Welsh as well as English.

In this photo: Smith plays a Pietro Mario Piano Accordion.

Hope I spelled that right... he was Queens Guard for the night. This is the man who bought Iolo's nice little Italian bow right off the bat. He also commissioned a walnut pistol bow from me. And, a toy bow shaped like an Italian bow! He looks rather dashing.

I photograph nature to record it's presence, its beauty and importance. When will we value it enough, consider its true value? Nature underpins everything, where, we just persist with its destruction in the name of economic growth. I despair at our stupidity.

"Photography appeared to us as a modest way to keep a little bit of this ephemeral state"

What amount of nature will be reduced to a photograph, a specimen, a record or a relic?

Given the space, damselflys can be, very successful I've seen an abundance! If you look in long grass or near, ponds or reeds, you'll see them 3 - 4cm in length.
