L'appuntamento era fissato per il primo pomeriggio di venerdì 22 maggio all'aeroporto di Ciampino. Falcone, come spesso accadeva, mi avrebbe dato un passaggio sul volo di Stato.
In mattinata mi telefonò per avvertirmi di un cambiamento di programma. Francesca non si sarebbe liberata dal lavoro in tempo. Il decollo era spostato di ventiquattr'ore. "Giovanni, arrivare a Palermo sabato sera per ripartire lunedì mattina mi fa pensare che è meglio che io rimanga a Roma. Ti ringrazio, ci vediamo la settimana prossima".
Alle 17.59 di quel sabato cinquecento chili di tritolo fecero scempio di cinque vite e della dignità di questo paese. Avrei dovuto esserci. Il "nonnulla" che non aveva salvato Ninni Cassarà rimase al mio fianco. Gli debbo la vita.

Pink shamrock (Oxalis debilis var. corymbosa ) is regarded as a minor environmental weed in Queensland, and as a "sleeper weed" in other parts of Australia.
I have just had cataract surgery,
my vision is very limited.
Cataract surgery
This is one of the most frequently performed surgical procedures in the world. The surgery involves:
Administering a local anaesthetic to the eye(s)
Making a tiny 2–3 mm incision in the outermost layer of the eye (the cornea)
Making an evenly round incision in the ‘bag’ (capsule) containing the affected lens
Breaking up the affected lens into smaller pieces with an ultrasound
Removing these pieces with a vacuum and flushing the lens capsule to clean it
Inserting and accurately positioning a clear artificial replacement lens (known as an intraocular lens or IOL).
The new lens can’t be felt once placed inside the eye. When a lens is replaced, it is not possible to develop another cataract.
The operation itself takes less than 30 minutes and can be performed in a day surgery or in hospital.
Right eye 3rd November 2022.

E veder comparire nella propria testa un'immagine fatta di cielo azzurro, di nuvole bianche, di un oggetto più o meno identificabile, di una bussola che indica il Nord ma anche il Sud e di bus da cui escono farfalle....e poi realizzarlo assolutamente differente da come la si "vedeva" O_o

Jornada memorable en compañía de mi amigo Oscar Ventura, donde hemos disfrutado de alrededor de una treintena de ejemplares (diría yo) de esta escasísima y rara especie, un día espléndido en el que a primeras horas de la mañana nos permitieron algunos acercamientos, una vez entran en calor, ya son complicadísimas de aproximar y además no se detienen.
Tampoco muestran demasiado su anverso deteniéndose normalmente con las alas cerradas, los adultos se sienten atraídos por las flores amarillas de Colutea, que además, sirven de alimento a las larvas.
En esta foto el anverso de un macho, aunque ya volado.

The ancient Roman harbor of Tipasa has been lost to the sea, but this is where it once was in modern Tipaza on Algeria's coast not far from Algiers. The song of this sea brought to my mind the story of Odysseus and the Sirens. Their music was reported as the most beautiful in the world and sailors listening to it went mad and ran afoul of the rocks. So they would stop up their ears with wax to pass safely. Odysseus, interested as always in the wonders of the world, forwent that wax and had himself tied to ship's mast so he could hear the Sirens for himself. This powerful story inspired the Roman maker of the mosaic (see inset). It's located in the wonderful museum of Cherchell, ancient Iol or Caesarea to the west of Tipaza.

Si bien esta mariposa está muy vinculada a las Coluteas sp. incluso hasta para alimentarse del néctar de sus flores, en esta ocasión disfrutaba de la “buena mesa” sobre una flor de Cistus sp.

Although this butterfly is closely related to Coluteas sp. even to feed on the nectar of its flowers, this time it enjoyed the "good table" on a flower of Cistus sp.
Azuré du baguenaudier
Bien que ce papillon soit étroitement lié à Coluteas sp. même pour se nourrir du nectar de ses fleurs, il a cette fois apprécié la "bonne table" sur une fleur de Cistus sp.

Tra di noi è stato un "colpo di fulmine"? Si, forse si...e sorrido ancora ricordando la prima volta che i nostri occhi si sono incrociati e la tua frase "no, Jò, perché io non ti voglio deludere..."...era un semplice test di verifica, è diventato l'inizio di un'amicizia che so durerà molto a lungo.
