The Church of Our Lady of Nazareth (Santa Maria di Nazareth) in Venice, popularly known as the Church of the Discalced Carmelites. Its history is related to the barefoot Carmelites who settled in Venice in 1633. The location was in the neighborhood on the Grand Canal, close to the Church and Convent of Santa Lucia. In 1649, several houses and vegetable gardens by the canal were bought. The church was built between 1660-1680 and although it was not finished, it was consecrated in October 1705 with the invocation of Our Lady of Nazareth. The Discalced Carmelite Church is the only church next to Canale Grande to have a Carrara marble facade.
In 1858, a cast-iron bridge over the Grand Canal, known today as Ponte degli Scalzi, was built near the new Carmelite Church. It enables a quick pedestrian connection of the train station and the Old Town.

Kościół Najświętszej Maryi Panny z Nazaretu (Santa Maria di Nazareth) w Wenecji, zwany jest popularnie kościołem Karmelitów Bosych. Jego historia jest związana z karmelitami bosymi, którzy w 1633 roku osiedlili się w Wenecji. Lokalizację wyznaczono w dzielnicy nad Canal Grande, w pobliżu kościoła i klasztoru Santa Lucia. W 1649 roku wykupiono kilka domów i ogrodów warzywnych przy kanale. Kościół został zbudowany w latach 1660–1680 i chociaż nie był ukończony, konsekrowano go w październiku 1705 roku, nadając wezwanie Najświętszej Maryi Panny z Nazaretu. Kościół karmelitów bosych jest jedynym kościołem nad Canal Grande, który ma fasadę z marmuru karraryjskiego.
W 1858 roku w pobliżu nowego kościoła karmelitów bosych zbudowano żeliwny most nad Canal Grande, znany dziś jako Ponte degli Scalzi. Umożliwia on szybkie połączenie piesze stacji kolejowej i Starego Miasta.
Built in 1722 by the pardos released under the invocation of Menino Deus, Santa Rita and Santa Quitéria. Some years later it was repaired and rebuilt with increase by white devotees who began to use it as a matrix during the construction of this new temple. It is the oldest church in the city due to the demolition of the chapels of São Roque and the old one.
Church of Jesuit architecture presents in the internal elements, that integrate it, the characteristics of the baroque-rococo, in particular in the policromada sculpture of the main altar, that flanked the pediment, the only angels praying in altars of Paraty.
In an attempt to give unity among its altars, when the restoration of the high altar was completed, the two corner altars were painted, which present a new painting. Its altars are dedicated to Santa Rita, Our Lady of Conception and Our Lady of Carmo.
Interesting details in this church are the rails of its finely crafted wooden inner porches and the church courtyard, in the columbarium style, separated from the church by a cemetery and a garden. This cemetery dates from the early nineteenth century.
In it, today the Museum of Sacred Art of Paraty works, under the responsibility of IBRAM.

The origin of the religious invocation of this church is that all of its kind (that is, the churches called by the name of "Tabernacle") are sacramental or sacred shrines of a great Cathedral, to which they are attached; fulfilling at the same time, and by themselves, the function of parishes of the urban district that surrounds the Cathedral. This type of sacramental chapel really conceived as a temple attached to a larger one, sharing a facade with the Cathedral itself and having at the same time functions as an independent parish, has its origin in the Cathedral of Seville, and from there the model was extended to the Cathedrals that the Spaniards built in the New World.

Another "quadratic" contemporary mandala referring to the Hindu iconography of the Yoni and the Divine Mother. Inspiration and title from Gong's "YOU" album of 1974.
The original shot was a Pano-Sabotage of a derelict house, patched up with various materials and covered in graffiti. I took it and mirrored it into quadrants then processed colour and effects from there.
A bridge piece to a new phase of work, one that incorporates everything I've done before and ventures into further possibilities. To be posted soon.
