I guess this pigeon (Maori: Kereru) thought I couldn't see it as I edged closer over about 5 minutes. It was still sitting there low in a tree beside the path when I left. In our lockdown we are allowed to walk for fitness in our local area which includes this forest park. A few other people passed me, mostly with masks. Our Covid outbreak came from Sydney but our whole country is in household bubbles already.

This morning light filtered through these very delicate maiden hair ferns. Delicately swaying gently in the new breath of the today.
Enigma - Invisible Love
When a Least Bittern knows it has been spotted, it quickly steps back and disappears into the thick bulrushes lining the banks of Horsepen Bayou. But as often as not, the bird will stand upright and reed-like, confident that the cloaking device it bought online will render it invisible to predators and paparazzi.
Sitting in my beach chair in my yard waiting for this little Hummer to drop by for a feed. Im not fast enough................

Chaque oiseau a sa façon de se cacher lors d'une menace imminente. Le Courlis, comme d'autres limicoles, s'écrase au sol le temps que la menace s'éloigne. Un Faucon émerillon tournait aux alentours et cet individu l'avait repéré bien avant moi.
