The most invigorating coastal walk so far this year…. sandstorms, sunshine and everything else in between!
Turkish coffee is known all over the world. It is distinguished from analogues in other countries by two recognizable moments: the method of preparation and the method of serving.
The official history of Turkish coffee dates back to the 16th century, when the drink began to be served in coffee houses in Istanbul. Very soon, such establishments became cultural centers, where men gathered to spend the evening chatting, discussing the latest news and art, playing backgammon.
The invigorating drink played such an important role in the cultural and social life of society that the sultan's wives and concubines in the harem were sure to take a course on the correct preparation of coffee. Women of a lower rank were also mastering this art with might and main - the tastier a girl made coffee, the more chances she had for successfully marrying.
Echoes of this tradition have survived to this day: when the groom's parents come to the bride's parents' house to ask for her hand in marriage, the girl must personally make coffee for the guests.
Classic Turkish coffee recipe
Real Turkish coffee is prepared in copper cezve (another name is Turk). Roasted grains are ground as fine as possible, literally into dust.
Ingredients:
ground coffee - 25 g;
water -150 ml;
sugar to taste;
cardamom to taste.
Preparation:
Pour coffee into a Turk, pour cold water, immediately add sugar and cardamom to taste. Mix.
Over low heat, almost bring the mixture to a boil.
As soon as foam appears, remove the cezve from the heat, pour some foam into a cup and let the drink cool slightly (20-30 seconds), then put the vessel back on the stove. Repeat the procedure 2 times. At the last heating, leave the coffee in the Turk for 2 minutes and only then pour into a cup. Do not stir!
Thanks to this method of preparation, Turkish coffee is always thick, aromatic and rich. A cup with a drink is always crowned with a foam cap, and a sediment remains at the bottom.
Turkish coffee is served in small cups, often with a glass of clean water. It is not necessary to have a snack, but you can put Turkish delight or other oriental sweets on the table.

Our arrival at Iceland's magnificent Westfjords happened like this. Go on the breaks, jump out of the campervan and look for your jaw which has just dropped to the floor ... ;) :D
The air is sharp and invigorating... take a walk... reach out your hand and try to catch the snowflakes... just like you did as a child... Do you remember the fun?
Close your eyes... listen to the delicate jingle of the falling snow... breathe in... listen to the leaves dancing with the snowflakes, falling down to earth... breathe out... listen to your heartbeat...
Open your eyes... winter is here.
You can feel it in the air... the freshness... the scent of snow and winter.

This is the time of year when every leaf of every plant is green and perfect and, frankly, invigorating. Here a section of the forest viewed from the lake can easily be dissected into its layers (there are five), highlighted by a dense thicket of flowering viburnum moving up the slope (the understory) and a mass of ferns and grasses (the herbaceous) nicely providing a clear water/land demarcation.

Hurricane "Ophelia" strikes the north Dublin coast at Donabate beach. Wind speed were up to 156 kph so it was pretty severe.
It was invigorating being out in it though and I was quite safe as I just had to walk across a treeless and power cable free empty golf course to get to the beach.There was a sandstorm being whipped up by the wind and the rain came down in sheets. It was difficult to stand!
Three people were killed by the storm and it could have been a lot worse. The emergency service were wonderful and rescued and helped so many people. It took up to three weeks to restore electricity to the entire country.
Is it wonderful how this type of thing brings out the best in people! It takes somthing like this for us to rally round one another.
Do hope you like my photo and that you all weather lifes storms with the help of your true friends.

One day in August 2019 at 2900 meters altitude with 6 ° C and gusts of wind, it is more than invigorating ...
We had our first bit of frost on the windows last night, oh I'm not so sure I'm ready for cold weather. It made for a beautiful sunrise though with the grass glistening and the frost quickly subsiding. The past few mornings were cloudy and overcast, it was invigorating to witness the sunrise, stop and capture the light. Thanks for visiting, peace to you!
An invigorating encounter with a handsome grizzly in the Yukon. This big fella was, fortunately, more interested in eating berries than in a nosy photographer. Did get some nice shots of him. More to follow.
Yes, snowing and well below freezing in August...
Hope your week is off to a wonderful start.
Lies waiting a spark, to invigorate a flame
A spark pervasive, in darkness always
Every atom advancing, perpetual in ethereal waves
Every Sun an atom and every atom a sun
Though candles are different, with same fire they burn
Like atoms of life of vain personalities
Every living being, deriving motivating force
From the living ocean of power, the unlimited source
All bodies are mine, one and same consciousness pervading
'Beyond' is just what the senses can't perceive

All Hail To The Rain - If not for the rain, it would be sunny, but then without the rain the flowers would die, the crops would fail, and as it is, when the rains don't come, people starve and die. All hail to the rain - I just love these intense storms with house shaking thunder and disco lightning.
This shot is taken from the house that Bert built. It is a guest cottage, and there is secure mosquito netting over the large windows, but no glass. So this storm feels very immediate to us, and invigorating. t was great to hang out with Bert and his family for a few weeks.
PS - The white spots on the picture are not from dirt or water on the lens, it from the rain being so heavy.

The photograph captures the vivid scene of crimson and orange Daylilies in the aftermath of a summer rain. The petals, splashed with drops that reflect the subdued daylight, appear invigorated and richly colored. The dynamic range of reds to oranges in the petals creates a visual warmth that contrasts with the cool freshness left by the rain. Each bloom is in a different stage of its life cycle, some vibrant and full, others gently wilting, a natural tapestry of growth and senescence. The green leaves, robust and sword-like, cradle the flowers, their dark color making the reds and oranges pop even more dramatically. This ensemble of Daylilies, captured with raindrops that amplify their allure, presents a scene of natural vibrancy and the cyclical beauty of the garden in the rain.
It is invigorating to breathe the cleansed air. Its greater fineness and purity are visible to the eye, and we would fain stay out long and late, that the gales may sigh through us, too, as through the leafless trees, and fit us for the winter -- as if we hoped so to borrow some pure and steadfast virtue, which will stead us in all seasons.
-- Henry David Thoreau
