This photograph was taken adjacent to Singapore’s historic Customs House. Its control tower near the water’s edge is contrasted with the top of Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resort in the background on the right of the photograph. The reflections in the Bay provided additional interest to the tranquil night scene.

This night photograph of Marina Bay Sands (MBS) Integrated Resort was taken from a spot along the promenade looking towards the MBS Hotel (with its three towers and boat-shape top with infinity pools).

Depot of Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen

Rotterdam (Netherlands)

It is the first building in the world that makes a museum’s entire collection public while also providing behind-the-scenes glimpses of how a museum works. Only eight percent of the collection could be displayed in the museum building, because the majority of the works were stored in facilities that were not accessible to the public. In the Depot of Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen you can see the entire collection, arranged not by period or art movement but based on the objects’ climate requirements.

Its shape form resembles a giant flower pot. The architects chose this design to minimize the building's footprint, and the rooftop garden with trees continue the existing museum park on top of the building. The mirrored facade reflect the park and the city, creating a collective and integrated element within the urban landscape.

This was a rather plain shot close-up shot of the timbers and mortar on the outer wall of an old log cabin. Happy Slider Sunday!

Although Colombo, the de facto capital of Sri Lanka, is provincial compared to Bangkok, Singapore or Delhi, there are always interesting architectural gems to be found. The red lines on this rather low-rise commercial building are reminiscent of conductor tracks. They contrast well with the blue glass. I chose a nearby inconspicuous tower block as the background.

Taking a ride out in the country, I leaned my bicycle against the old screen of the drive-in theatre.

The graffiti was not there when the features were playing. ;-)

M81 and M82 are a pair of interacting galaxies found in the constellation of Ursa Major.

M81 was discovered by Johann Alert Bode in 1774. The galaxy is approximately 11.5 million light years from earth and is one of the brightest galaxies in the night sky.

M82 also discovered by Johann Alert Bode, is known for its elongated cigar shape seen from Earth and contains high levels of star formation giving its alternative name the Starburst Galaxy. M82 is approximately 12 million light years from Earth.

This wide field image also includes NGC 3077, NGC 2961, NGC 2959 and NGC 2976.

One of the objectives for this wide field image was to capture the IFN (Integrated Flux Nebula) that surrounds the region. This is why over 50 hours of imaging was taken to pick up the weak background signal.

Primarily the RGB was taken using a UV/UR cut filter during the moonless nights, and then the Ha data was added from a narrowband session using the Optolong L-Extreme 3nm filter during brighter moonlit nights. This narrowband data improves the definition of the red Ha jets being ejected from the galaxy core go M82.

Imaged from my home in Gergal, Spain over 8 nights in February and March 2023.

Shot from blast furnace #5. The site area was a integrated steel plant for a century. At one point the renovated furnace wasn't blown on again buta transitional journey began, turning the site in a now a public park.

Old people are integrated in the public live. You can see them sitting and gossipping on benches or like here playing cards in a park.

Alte Leute sind in Portugal voll in das Leben integriert und werden nicht in Altersheimen am Stadtrand versteckt.

Sie sitzen tratschend auf Bänken und wie hier spielen die Männer auch sehr gerne in Parks Karten.

It looks better :-)

We shot this image over the course of a week during April 2018. This image was a real challenge in our light polluted skies (Bortle 5-6) an hour west of Bangkok.

Sharpless 73 (also known as LBN 105), in the constellation Hercules, was mistakenly added to the Sharpless catalog as an emission nebula. It was later realized that because there is no nearby hot star to ionize the gas, it is merely a molecular cloud in space. Lit by the integrated light from the galaxy, it is classified as an integrated flux nebula.

Integrated flux nebulae are very faint, in fact there is no listing for the surface brightness of this object. Picking the nebula out of sky noise (e.g. light pollution at our site) is especially difficult, and was only possible by taking a huge number of exposures using our wide field 300mm f/3.0 telescope array. The nebula was visible for about 3-1/2 hours each of the eight nights we shot. 465 Luminance (5-, 8- and 10-minutes), 174 Red, 172 Green and 173 Blue (all color 2-1/2 minutes Bin2x) subexposures were taken using one FLI ML29052 and two FLI PL16803 CCD cameras cooled to -25C. More than 70 hours of data was collected. The image was processed in PixInsight and Photoshop.

After capturing Starlink Satellite Group transit over a 4 minute period: www.flickr.com/photos/cloud_spirit/53387373498, I wondered what if I fixed on the stars and not the horizon.

By using PixInsight, I stacked all 138-1 sec exposures by aligning the brightest stars and not rejecting any pixels. The result is certainly interesting. The earth's movement is seen by the blurry houses and trees. I also imaged several more satellites (presumably also Starlink).

Vega is the brightest star just above the center right edge. Spherical abbreviation (taken at f/2.8) is more apparent on the right side of this image.

Wallasey Corporation 54, 1951 Leyland PD2/1 (AHF 850)

This mural was designed by aboriginal artist Jerry Whitehead and painted with artists Vince Dumoulin, Larissa Healey and Travis Nelson for the RestART program.

The word “RestART” (restorative justice through art) is a compound of “restorative” and “art”.

RestART is an initiative created in 2002 by restorative justice practitioners with members of the VPD Anti-Graffiti Unit. This is one of their pieces located on the Granville viaduct at 900 Terminal Avenue (by Home Depot).

Vancouver’s Integrated Graffiti Management Program, with the Grandview-Woodland Community Policing Centre and Vancouver Police Department were responsible for this piece the 14th RestART workshop and mural.

This RestART workshop included six youths and four mentor artists exploring the impacts of graffiti and discussing the need for collective responsibility in finding solutions and alternative options to the negative ramifications of illegal graffiti.

The mural is based on community, the individual and the collective responsibilities of family members.

RestART is a restorative justice art program that provides youth who have previously engaged in illegal graffiti with opportunities to express themselves in a positive way.

The Integrated Graffiti Management Program is focused on prevention, deterrence and eradication of graffiti.

This was shot during my second visit to Clevedon. A beautiful pier that I planed to photograph for a long time. On my first visit I was very limited in time, so couldn't even set-up my tripod. Finally, I was able to get there on Easter break with plenty of time. Everything was just fine: lovely weather, nice clouds and high tide.

The 4th Generation of Ford’s F pickup trucks spanned model years 1961-66. New for the generation was the ‘integrated pickup’ design in which the bed was welded directly onto the cab. This was intended to save assembly steps in the factory and to replace the ‘Styleside’ bed of the previous generation in which the two parts were mounted separately on the vehicle frame.

However, truck buyers weren’t completely sold on the idea for various reasons having to do with ride and durability of the design. To satisfy potential Ford buyers who wanted the conventional configuration in which the cab and bed weren’t directly attached together, they then offered a combination of a Gen 4 cab mismatched with the Gen 3 box for a couple of model years! By the middle of 1963, Ford finally offered a separate Gen 4 Styleside box that matched the style of the Gen 4 cab.

Happy Truck Thursday!

On the 5th November 1994 Class 60 no.60035 passes Cardiff Canton with the 6M86 1120 Margam to Dee Marsh steel train.

The train was conveying slab from Port Talbot to Llanwern for rolling and hot roll coil to Shotton for processing into coated products. The cold mill at Shotton is now closed as is the hot mill at Llanwern but inter-plant movements of hot roll coiled to Llanwern and cold rolled to Shotton continue.
