Danish West Coast in Summer, Jylland, Denmark

Perhaps not an accurate title but catchy title anyway. This is a stream I discovered while hiking near Lake Minnewanka. It is located in Banff National Park, Alberta Canada. The day was perfect and the clouds were incredible. Processed in Lightroom and Topaz.

Salar de Talar is a large salt flat located in the high puna of northern Chilean Andes, at an altitude of 3,950 m. It is part of a series of salt lakes and salt flats located at the foothills of a chain of volcanoes stretching along the eastern side of the much greater Salar de Atacama. The salty flat is bordered on the west by Caichinque and on the east by Cerro Medano, is a mountain with striking shades of grey and brown, which contrast nicely with the sparkling white of the salt flat's surface. On top of that, colourful ponds fringe its shores. Salar de Talar is a part of the Central Andean dry puna ecoregion, which in this zone is characterized by tussock grass vegetation.

Thank you or taking a look at my images

Let's face it now, it isn't everyday we see a genuine example of anti gravity anywhere let alone in agarden is it now? Yet here we have it along with the evidence, and not just any garden - it's in our garden! I know, it's incredible, but its not for sale so don't even go there.

The only other example I can think of is those UFO things that keep turning up on people's phones, but as folks don't believe in those, that makes this little baby unique does it not.

I'll tell you something else, it's totally silent, doesn't make a sound and you can pass your hands all around and underneath it like one of those stage magicians - it doesn't seem to mind. Nor, does it limit itself to any one flowerbed, oh no it moves with it's whims not just the sun, hot border in the morning, vegetable patch in the afternoon - it even followed me into the house one day!

A couple of days after taking this very photo, my wife and I had to pop to the garden centre (we were looking for something inter dimensional) and this little baby kept pace with us for an entire kilometre. It was only as we turned out of our road and my wife put the pedal to the metal that we thought we had lost it - I say 'thought' because when we pulled into the car park at the garden centre about 10 miles away there it was! I don't think anyone else saw it for it was hovering about 50 feet in the air directly over the compost bags, as it did so it slowly rotated and as the sun caught its petals it appeared to change colour - just like one of those bona fide UFOs that don't exist, and when we got home an hour later, there it was, sunning itself next to the garlic. I know, I know, it's incredible, but it isn't for sale so don't even go there....

Once again, I have to thank the incredibly talented and utterly patient, Wendy. I can tell her what's in my head and she goes to work creating the perfect pose. Not only that, but she also built the pier. She's amazing in so many ways, and just about the sweetest, most gentle person you could ever hope to meet.

Incredible slot canyon near Page Arizona

Personally, I would rather be looking at the sea - an incredibly beautiful spot on the Oregon Coast.

We h ad an incredible pelagic out of Tofino yesterday. We had 1 endangered Short-tailed Albatross and 15 near-threatened Laysan Albatrosses and several Black-footed Albatrosses so we had the trifecta! It was incredible because Short-tailed are extremely rare and last year at this time we had 3 Short-tailed s on a similar trip last march and we never thought it would happen again! I was really happy about seeing the Laysan Albatrosses since I have been trying for several years to see one in BC waters. The Laysan was BC Bird #427 for me. We ended up seeing an incredible number of them 15 to be exact! At one point we had 9 sitting all together. I went from seeing none for several years to seeing a flock! totally crazy! We lucked out by finding a few fishing boats but the best part was three young birders were on board and for 2 of them it was their first pelagic and they were lucky to hit the jackpot!. Their smiles and excitement were the best part of the trip for me.

We also had some incredible marine mammals this trip : 2 Humpback Whales, 1 Sea Otter, 4 Northern Fur Seals and a rare first for most on board which were 30 Risso's Dolphins and 4 Northern Right Whale Dolphins.

I finally bought some pumpkins last weekend and Tofu had the "honour" to be the first to pose with them. They look nice together but I think Tofu would have been more impressed if I had asked him to pose with an assortment of steaks.

Tucked away in Western Australia’s Yalgorup National Park, within the quiet shallows of Lake Clifton, lies something truly extraordinary — almost more science fiction than fact. These knobbly, unassuming formations are **thrombolites**: living, rock-like structures built by ancient microbial communities.

What makes them so special? Thrombolites are incredibly rare! They’re among the few surviving examples on Earth of life forms similar to those that began oxygenating our planet billions of years ago. According to wiki, unlike the more well-known stromatolites, which grow in tidy layers, thrombolites have a "clotted, chaotic internal structure" — a bit like my brain on most days! They’re messy, ancient, and utterly fascinating.

As we stood on the boardwalk, watching the sun filter through the nutrient-rich waters, which is just the way these microorganisms like it, we felt small. I was staring at the descendants of the planet’s earliest architects of breathable air, still quietly persisting in a world that has changed beyond recognition.

They’ve survived for millennia, but they’re fragile — vulnerable to rising salinity, pollution, and, sadly, careless human behaviour. Just last year, they suffered significant damage after many visitors, in pursuit of the aurora australis, wandered into restricted areas. The result? Extensive harm to the thrombolites and their delicate microbial mats. Makes you almost ashamed to be a photographer! I’ll be polite and refrain from calling them what I really think of them ..... *deep breaths*

I consider ourselves lucky, truly lucky, to see them still hanging on, whispering stories from the origins of life - rare, ancient & alive. I hope more people come to understand their importance, and that these incredible rare living fossils not only survive but thrive.

Sorry for the rant. Have a great end to the week! Thanks kindly for any likes/comments, they are always appreciated.

Had great lunch Yesterday watching the butterflies from the window, so much traffic with all the insects, also time for the Goldfinches to gather Sunflower seeds.

Have a nice weekend.

This is the first time I've seen a sunset like this tonight.

I wish you a pleasant evening and thank you for visiting!

This moment of Show Jumping Championship I captured in Spruce Meadows Equestrian Facility in Calgary, Alberta. Canada.

The magnificent hummingbird is larger than some of the other species but certainly not the largest. What is a challenge is to capture his beauty because if the light is not hitting him straight on you would never see these amazing colors. I have been photographing them for years and this is probably the one that best shows off his beauty !! I truly love him and the white around the eye is one of his distinguishing features !!

Wishing you a great evening and a very blessed one !!!!!!

It was during a 5 minute drive down from Cook's Meadow that I realized I had just left a dozen incredible shots in a row as incredible rays burst over the valley, but there was no where to pull over. Suddenly I was driving through light mist and sunshine and I KNEW there had a to be a rainbow over the valley from the tunnel view, but it would be gone by the time I got there. Then I came around the corner of El Capitan Meadown and the sun was streaming through the yellow leaves in front of the Cathedral Rocks and I wanted to stop…but I wanted the rainbow….and ….

And that's all it takes for me to completely lose my mind. Put me in an environment where there are 20 amazing things to shoot all at once and ask me to choose ONE, then sit back and watch me explode. I was hitting my brake pedal and the accelerator at the same time. I decided on the Valley View and hit the accelerator again. Suddenly I found myself behind a tour bus from Brea and I KNEW their next stop would be the Gates of the Valley View and that the whole area would be overrun if they got there first. I tried to pass the bus, but the driver decided it was easier to drive ON the dotted line and almost killed me. I finally floored it and got in front of him with only a few seconds to spare. I dashed out the car and finished this bracket just as 50 tourists from Brea piled out.

This was fairly typical for a clearing storm at Yosemite. Sit around and nothing happens for 9 hours and when something does happen, it all happens at once.

…another picture from our visit to Venice. This place around the piazza san marco is just incredible.

I had an incredible encounter with a few non skittish Hooded Mergansers today. The fall leaves lit up the water and they were out displaying (seems early) in their finery. I love the funny sounds they make with their cocking heads. They sure are handsome drakes!

An incredible local spot! With bad weather and an injury anything further than a local ride has been out of the question, but this made up for not being able to go far, Cavalier's of this era are a rare sight anywhere now, this is now MOT'd and taxed too.

incredible evolution in sl. what people made in between to give us the possibility to create pictures almost realistic. remember when i started, many years ago, and i had problems to find a dark skin. my first one was a gift of skinmaker, who read about my wish in a forum. i was happy. and now i compare with the pictures today..... wooow

On one of my many mountain hikes this summer, I explored this incredibly beautiful area, which is rightly part of UNESCO's World Heritage list. I have rarely seen such a beautiful and untouched natural landscape.
