This one is actually from last night, but the sunset was just so pretty I wanted to share it anyway.

'Incrediball' hydrangeas in bloom through the dining room picture window.

Backyard view featuring the yellow Chamaecyparis 'Mops' and Lychnis 'Lip Stick' in the foreground.

Top L-R - First Picture - 1st year in ground, not pruned. Second-Third#- second year growth. I did prune them in the following spring. Fourth - young blooms on the third year. Subsequent pictures are of the shrub in maturity, clearly towering above a 4’ fence. I prune these around St. Patrick’s Day, staggering the strongest stems to heights of 2.5 to 3 ft tall. I remove any twiggy growth, and all growth that comes from canes and points inward toward the plant. I remove to the ground any soft, supple, thinly gauged canes and branches. I fertilize around the drip edge - about 3-4 feet from the center, with Holly Tone.

Hydrangea arborescens 'Abetwo' was developed (pp20571, 2009) by Timothy D. Wood from Spring Meadow Nursery of Grand Haven, Michigan. 'Abetwo' originated from an open pollination of 'Annabelle' (parent) and an unknown H. arborescens in 2002. Compared to Hydrangea 'Annabelle', it is taller, has larger flower heads, and thicker stems that do not splay when wet. The flowers start out lime green and mature to pure white. Blooms in early June for ~ two months.
