As a husband I promised to honor and respect my wife

As an Eagle Scout I took an oath to help others at all times, to be courteous and kind, and I was taught that integrity and honor are real, and you can't have them if your word means nothing

As a businessman, I have come to recognize what con artists look like and how dangerous they can be

As a father I swore to be actively engaged in raising of my children, to help develop their character through my actions as well as words

Because my five your old daughter told me "you have to look the bully in the eye"

For these reasons, and so many more, I march

January 21, 2016

I’m marching for the suffragettes. I haven’t forgotten that they worked tirelessly for several decades so women would have the legal right to vote. I’m marching for my mother, who taught me to stand up to bullying and to support those being victimized. I’m marching for my Grandparents, Habeeb Daher and Mariam Razook, who emigrated from Lebanon to the USA, in hopes of a better life. I’m marching for the 1 out of 3 women who are victims of sexual abuse. Gender Violence is not acceptable. I’m marching because people of all races deserve to feel safe. Racism hurts every one; let us work on healing that wound instead of scratching the itch. I’m marching because love is love. I’m marching for solidarity, to nurse my heartbreak about the divide and hypocrisy in my country. I’m marching because I know we have a broken system, but I believe everyday people have the power to make the United States of America kinder. I’m marching because it’s 55 degrees in Michigan in January and Mother Earth knows things are not right.

Thank you for marching with me.
