i'm constantly washing my hands, and constantly drying my hands on my pants. an easy fix :]

no pockets, no fuss. made in about 20 minutes from a pretty fat quarter and some homemade bias tape. the dotty strip on the top continues around the side into the apron stings that tie in the back.

there's lots of fq apron tutorials around the web, the one i saw that sparked me into creating this was at Prudent Baby.

loved the swirly binding on this one.

Ah, distinctly I remember it was in the bleak December,

And each separate dying ember wrought its ghost upon the floor.

Eagerly I wished the morrow; vainly I had sought to borrow

From my books surcease of sorrow - sorrow for the lost Lenore

For the rare and radiant maiden whom the angels name Lenore

Nameless here for evermore.--E A Poe

Another a-line skirt from Sew U. Used the rounded patch pockets from the pants pattern in the book and sewed the facing to the outside. Also, didn't sew the darts. Finished with white bias binding tape (narrow on pockets and waistband, wide on bottom hem). This time I actually finished my seams! Made from the leftovers of the fabric we used as table runners at our wedding.

Contemporary baby quilt. The pattern was taken from the book Simple Contemporary Quilts by Valerie Van Arsdale Shrader. As soon as I saw it, I had to make it. I absolutely love it. (and so does Miriam from what I've been told)

Note: This image has been modified to conceal the baby's full name.

Thrifted mens sweater: 100% wool from Greece. First attempt at dying recycled yarn with Kool-Aid. So much fun..

What do your dolls do when you're not around? How do they keep themselves occupied? We know they have hobbies and like many people in our world, they can be pretty darn creative and fond of experimenting. Do they garden? Try to cut their own hair? Make their own clothes? Draw pretty pictures? Maybe they would like to show the rest of the class what they get up to?

1. Take a photo of your Blythe having fun with her favorite hobby or just doing something for herself like a big girl.

2. No clones.

3. No Photoshop to meet Challenge requirements.

4. Photo must be taken within the Challenge time period and no recycled photos.

5. One photo per person but collage all you'd like, as long as it comprises only one photo.

Deadline is midnight PST, Friday, March 21, 2014.

Petite Knits Pattern - knit by me!

Journaling:Sure I hope to win the lottery one day and on rainy days I hope for the sun to come out, but these are just minor things to me. I have spend a big part of my life hoping. Hoping that things would change for the better, hoping a good job, house, man, etc, etc would come along. One day there came a turning point. My friend told me, after I talked about my life and my hopes for the future, :”Corinne, you can hope for things to happen, but if you don’t do anything yourself nothing will ever change”. It made me realize that by just hoping for things to change I totally had blocked my life. Hope can’t help you get what you want in the end, you on the other hand can. I am now in full control in my own life and whenever I want something I make sure I get it by taking the steps to get there.

Used American Crafts Townhouse chipboard, thickers(foam and chipboard) and paper :)

Carrot ginger pork buns (I just used the dough recipe and bun-making technique, not the filling recipe)

Garlic parmesan chicken (which for real is like adult shake and bake), sauteed spinach and creamy orzo

i decided not to quilt it, but I did back the front piece with some cotton batting attached with heat & bond to fatten it up a little.

ended up 16x16 and a pillow form of that size fits in it perfectly.

Carolyn's tree block for the Cottage Quilting Bee.

I ran out of the dotted "sky" fabric - don't know if I cut my piece all crazy or something - so I couldn't finish/add on the 3rd tree -- but I made a trunk so hopefully you can just make a top to the tree to complete my block!

I made another separate block to help make up for it with some cool green leaf fabric I had in my stash.

Large elbow noodle pasta I made for dinner last night ....m'm, m'm good :-)

First project for Elsie Marley's Kids Clothes Week Challenge. These are the Kneepad Pants from Made. It's a great tutorial. I ended up spending three hours on these and not finishing, but that's not because they're hard. It's because I spent like an hour being indecisive about the color and shape of the knee pads, instead of just following the advice of the pattern. As usual.( Blogged.)

Also, turns out the massive bag of elastic I inherited from my Grandma Ruth is all 1/2", so I need to grab some 1" tonight and finish the waistband and hem.

UPDATE: Done!

Does this angle make it look a little more tame? You can see the boxed corners here too and how they fold in to lay flat. And the back of the pouch is just the plain green Kona you see here.

Not retouched at all.

Colleen's block for Pieced Together in May.

LOVED LOVED LOVED this block - probably because of the awesome fabric she sent. I could barely cut into the different scrappy pieces - I loved them so much. I think I need to buy a lot of this line.

She requested right angles, stripes, skinny strips and off center middles -- I think I did OK with most of those requests. This is going to be one AWESOME quilt!

I feel this grey is a bit dreary and I have fallen out of love with the grey springs. I might redo this one. Something brighter perhaps. Like this

More about my progress on my blog

The Macro Monday theme for 8/21 is glass. I’ve taken several glass classes and the slump bowls were made of a flat piece of glass that we designed and fired, then it was placed in a kiln on a form to be fired again and the glass slumped! Will include a context photo to show one within another…… this one is probably the best macro

Btb, it’s not easy to do a size verification bc of the shape. But I did keep within the parameters and will include a ruler size verification..

I'd been planning to do us a fruit cake for Christmas and was talking to Trin about it when I realised that the kids were getting excited about a cake that none of them would like. I thought about it for a while and came up with the idea of putting a fruit cake and a sponge cake on the same board and decorating them both as one design. So I took flickr.com/photos/insite/3102558128/.

This will be a big bowl for my grandma her birthday is tomorrow and she will be 98!!!!

I'm really pleased with the way these look, inside the cone is a chocolate sponge cake, the "ice-cream" is white chocolate buttercream. Haven't tasted them yet to see how the cone works with the cake and cream as I've only got three so I'm waiting until later when I've got people picking up cakes to give an opinion as well, I'll try and get a shot of a cut one then but just had to take a photograph and post it because I'm so happy with the look of them.

Quilt for She-baby Hackett

You knew this was coming :]

Darci and I both made 1/2 aprons for our partners in the Spicing Up The Kitchen swap. They're not the main items ... but just a fun little extra you'll get from us because the 1/2 size apron has become the trademark of this group!

Additionally - we're making another one that you'll all have the chance to win! Everyone that sends their package out on time (deadline is March 1st) will be entered to win another apron like this.

You know you want an official Spicing Up The Kitchen swap apron! :]

A large glass top table delivered to an office in Nashville.

This is a note to myself.

Stop working so hard.

Stop thinking and worrying to much.

Stop Procrastinating too much.

Stop with doing things you do not like doing.

I want to focus more on spending time with my children, my husband and doing the things that will bring a smile on my face. I want to treasure the moments more that happen right in front of me, they can be gone, before I even noticed them.

Used the papers, chipboard and rub-ons of the Poolside line of cherryArte.

Sneak peek at what's heading to my partner. Hope you like them!

I worked with Frances Cycles proprietor, Joshua Muir and Joshua Thayer (you may know him as Joshua of California) to get this one designed, up and live for your pleasure and business.

More about it here.

Very happy to see this one live.
