I recently lost my cat after 12 wonderful years to cancer. His death has hit me hard. So I wanted to upload some happy memories. Here is a few photos of threatened Lesser Prairie -Chickens from Kansas. Seeing them dance on the lek was one of my happiest memories. I hope that future generations will continue to be able to see this spectacle. Their numbers are severely declining due to habitat loss, agriculture and hunting. It is imperative we do all we can to save and conserve the precious grasslands.

The return of the Agapanthus

www.youtube.com/watch?v=i3H2VWzTR9I

Having no lily of the valley in my garden, I still offer you this beautiful Agapanthus! very good weekend of May 1st !!

And don't forget May 11, this is not the end of our ordeal! It's just the beginning a new life !! so take good care of all of you !!

It's up to us to learn and manage the 4M rule

MASK: Wearing a mask is compulsory if you are sick or caring for it over and over again.

HANDS: While it is essential to observe scrupulous hand washing with soap and water or with alcohol-based solutions when hand washing is not possible while traveling, it is also necessary to learn to limit contact of his hands and his body with furniture or objects. Remember "we touch with the eyes".

METER: Social distancing must be maintained, even if it will certainly soften over time. In the event of imperative of displacement and contact with another person, take care to always maintain a minimum distance of 1 METER between you.

MINUTE: Maintaining a minimum distance is important, but managing the presence time is just as essential. Limit our interactions to what is strictly necessary, and this, as much as possible, at work and during rest periods.

Thanks to this, we capitalize on the remarkable sacrifices made by all during this first month. So don't forget: #RestezChez Vous et tous c

True Power - thoughts by me

Daily doses of Gratitude

Creates a positive

Electro magnetic field

This has a ripple effect

The power to affect all in your field of energy

We are in effect

Shape shifters

We have the power to shift

the Consciousness of humanity

Collectively we create this global

Magnetic force

The collective of consciousness

Humanity’s consciousness

This starts with . . .

You and Me

Each and everyone of us

Has a responsibility

Be consciously aware of your thoughts and feelings

Do not feel small minded

Tap into the great power

That is within you

If only you knew

Your true power

Sleeping Gods

Tap into the authentic you

Focus on the good

Despite the obstacle

Trust that no matter what is being played out

Individually or on the world stage

There is a greater picture which is yet to unfold and become clear to you

Accept what is

And trust in the greater process

So trust no matter what

Do not trust in fools

Trust in yourself only

Anchor yourself daily

In this positive field of Energy

Attract only positive

When you are faced with

Adversity - as you will -

Learn from it

Rise above it

Accept 'what is'

Others will attempt to destroy you

That is the dark force

It is very real

Accept it

We too are both light and dark

The dark forces agenda is to trap humanity in places of darkness - this manifests in forms of

anger, hostility, hatred, fear

- *anything that is the polar opposite to Love

Now more than ever

It is imperative to

Anchor and ground yourself

In the Power of Love &

Gratitude

It is like mind exercises

It does not mean

You do not hurt

Sometimes you become broken

Unable to soar

Take the time

To Heal

To Learn

To let go and let be

Just 'be'

Present in this moment

And realize the world we live in

Is both good and bad

Others will seek to destroy your light

There is great strength in

Gentleness and Kindness

Some see this as a weakness

To take away your power

. . . Have pity on them, forgive them for they are so trapped in darkness

Do not give them any kind of energy . . . not even your thoughts

If you stumble

As you will . . .

Turn in on yourself

Tap into the authentic self

The soul wisdom

When you can move from being the victim

Trust me no matter what you endure

You will rise from the ashes

Stronger, wiser

Tap into the Spiritual Warrior that dares to be awoken from her slumber

Give Gratitude for all

Then fly once more

Into the beautiful realm

Of Love & Light

Soar like an Eagle once more

Collectively we can heal this world and humanity

It is with great pleasure and humility that I participate in this campaign for such a necessary and present cause of our conscience and attention.

Violence is a monster that lives in all environments, in all social classes and respects nothing and no one. It is imperative that we open our eyes, look around and help those who suffer from this hell. It is imperative that we give our children fundamental values such as humility, empathy, solidarity, a sense of justice and, above all, respect for ourselves and others.

For all women who suffer violence, never forget ... It is your silence that dictates the strength of your abuser.

A huge thank you, Lawrence and Kess for this initiative.

Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

Photographing lilies at McKee Gardens, this dragonfly interrupted the process. There is a photo of the unadorned lily below. There is also a closer look at the dragonfly.

It appears to be a Blue Dasher, they are one of the most abundant dragonflies in the U.S. and can be found near slow moving water sources, marshes and ponds. Adults have four wings with two noticeable dark streaks in them. Adult males have a chalky, blue color from head to abdomen that ends with a black tip. Their heads contain their large eyes which take on a metallic sheen in certain lighting.

McKee Jungle Gardens was the vision of land developers Arthur McKee and Waldo Sexton, who purchased the 80-acre tropical hammock in 1922 with the intention of cultivating citrus. The property’s natural beauty was deemed too special in its native state to disturb so McKee and Sexton identified a new purpose for the land. The two land developers employed landscape architect William Lyman Phillips, from the esteemed firm of Frederick Law Olmsted, to design the basic infrastructure of streams, ponds and trails while they focused their efforts on assembling one of the most outstanding collections of waterlilies and orchids – augmenting native vegetation with ornamental plants and exotic specimens from around the world.

By the 1940’s, more than 100,000 tourists were visiting the Gardens each year, deeming it one of Florida’s earliest and most popular natural attractions. The Garden’s award-winning orchid collection, unusual fly-trapping pelican flowers and exotic wildlife captivated visitors.

As central Florida developed in the 1970s, attendance at the Gardens waned and the family owned establishment was unable to compete with the lure of far bigger tourist attractions in central and south Florida. McKee Jungle Gardens closed in 1976 and was sold to condominium developers. All but 18 acres were developed. These 18 acres, once the heart of McKee Jungle Gardens, lay dormant for 20 years.

A group of community visionaries understood the imperative of preserving these 18-acres and in 1994, with the help of The Trust for Public Land, launched a fund-raising campaign to buy the land from the developer who was finalizing plans for a shopping center.

With bare hands, basic tools and unimaginable heart, volunteers of every age cleared the trails to reveal once again the jungle’s treasures. This community effort touched so many that even a young girl gave her weekly allowance to help rescue the Gardens. November 18, 2001 marked the formal dedication of the saved, restored and newly named McKee Botanical Garden.

Was a priviledge as always to be in their presence.

It is imperative we preserve our old growth forests before we lose this endangered and magnificent bird forever.

They need old growth forests to support all their life stages and especially because they eat almost entirely a diet consisting of Northern Flying Squirrels.

The birds in BC are basically extirpated with a captive breeding program that was doomed to fail from the start.

WA did a better job of managing the logging of old growth forests and conserving this bird but still are battling with the increasing population of Barred Owls. Barred Owls take over the territory of Spotted Owls and push them out of an area causing them to ultimately starve and perish. We can't blame the Barred Owls as we paved their way over here. The Barred Owls have also displaced and killed off many Western Screech-Owls. In Vancouver and the Lower Mainland we no longer have Screech-Owls due to development and Barred Owls.

Seeing these owls is always a treasure but along comes with it sadness that it may be the last time I see that particular bird or even species. Each year they seem to continually decline at a rate of 7% per year and population estimates in WA are around 200 birds.

We must do all we can to prevent this owl from disappearing from the little remaining old growth forests we have left if not the forests will be a far darker place.

On a happy note seeing this species a few days ago put an end to my North American Owl Big Year. I never set out to do a big year but due to travel and circumstance I was able to see all 19 species of naturally occurring owls in NA (excluding Mexico) in 12 months.

Getting Back to the Spotted Owls it was fantastic to see them and to see a few juveniles which give us all hope for the future. These owls do not reproduce every year so to see 2 healthy, curious babies you need to be greatful. They have a long hard road ahead and I wish them all the success and luck in the world... they are going to need it.

The wings of Draco volans are supported by its ribs, which form the skeleton of its wings. However, its elongated ribs are superadded to aid forming its wings, and not to assisting respiration.

This species is considered a passive glider, or parachutist. However, previous studies have also shown that it can be considered a gliding animal. This means that it doesn't have to deal with the aerodynamic and metabolic imperatives required for active flight

Also called the sailboat, the flambé is one of the most beautiful and elegant butterflies in Europe. It is easily recognized by its black transverse bands and its hind wings which extend.

Its habitat is greatly reduced, mainly due to the destruction of hedges, it is imperative to restore these environments and maintain areas of fallow and flowery meadows.

Hey there flickr-friends,

is it really Sunday again?

Too many subjects. Too many favorites. Too many stories. When the blessing of digital photography turns into curse and the sheer mass of choice into blockage. Like an artist staring on a blank sheet of paper. Perhaps limit the amount of shots on site? Projects? Target pictures? Keep everything for cold winter evenings? Cut off the supply lines? To find the light in chaos is imperative. A lighthouse in rough sea. Is the ship sinking? Where is the reef? Stay calm. Be above. Plunge into the wave. Grab the thread. Is it golden, follow its lead. At the end revelation is heaping.

Yep, perhaps I should grab my bike, drive out into nature and take some pictures. :D

Enjoy your Sunday everyone!

[Deutsch / German]

Hallo flickr-Freunde,

Einen Leuchtturm in stürmischer See. Sinkt das Schiff? Wo ist das Riff? Bleib entspannt.

Einen schönen Sonntag euch allen!

The Damme Canal (French: Canal de Damme. Dutch: Damse Vaart or Napoleonvaart) is a canal in the Belgian province of West Flanders. The canal links Bruges with the Western Scheldt at Sluis, Netherlands. It was constructed on the orders of Napoleon Bonaparte who wished to create a canal network in order to permit the efficient transport of troops without the risk of disruptive interventions from the British navy.

Following the defeat of Napoleon, the original strategic imperative for the canal was removed. The plans in the Napoleonic era had called for a link to the Scheldt at Breskens. Half a century later the canal opened to traffic in 1856, and the link with the sea had moved to Sluis.

At Damme the canal crosses the Leopold Canal and the Schipdonk Canal, both of which were dug in the middle years of the nineteenth century in order to reduce the vulnerability of the Belgian canal network to Dutch interference, after the achievement in 1830 of Belgian independence. It was necessary to create a system of Siphons because of the differences in water level of the three canals. The canal was used until 1940 when French troops destroyed the siphon system: this put an end to maritime transport on the Damme Canal.

After World War II use of the canal resumed, but it was used now by pleasure boats, along with a tourist boat connecting Damme and Bruges.

Spring has arrived, despite the 2 cm of snow that fell last night. The forecast says we'll be back into double digits before the weekend is done, and I'm gullible enough to believe it. And so, a brief set of images celebrating very early signs of spring on the northern prairie...

A Ferruginous Hawk flies by with nesting material in its bill. In the absence of trees across much of the prairie, birds have to improvise from available resources, including twigs from thickets and semi-woody plants from ditches. That said, they also find branches, often from the lone tree where they are settling. The nests of this species can be huge.

Once again light is reflecting off the snowy prairie, bouncing up to illuminate this hawk from below. I have to admit, I love the effect. It's like having a powerful flash for fill light on a bird flyby. I think I know where this hawk was going, btw; there is a big cottonwood tree not far from this spot that both Ferruginous and Swainson's Hawk families have occupied in recent years, although not at the same time. I leave them alone during nesting season. Ferruginous in particular are susceptible to disturbance.

The village of Rocamadour is known as the sacred city and prominent place of pilgrimage. Located on a cliff limy, dominates majestically the Alzou canyon. The fame of its sanctuaries, and especially of the shrine of the Black Virgin, makes each year countless visitors and pilgrims come to this village. To the point of making it the second most visited place in France after the Mont Saint-Michel.

After climbing the 216 steps of the grand staircase that leads to the square of the churches, pilgrims and visitors are directed to the seven shrines of Rocamadour, among which the chapel of Notre-Dame, the Saint-Sauveur basilica and the chapel of Saint Michel. It is imperative to visit the chapel of Notre Dame or miraculous chapel, where you save a statue of the Black Virgin dating back to the twelfth century. Near this chapel is the tomb of St Amadour.

The old episcopal palace, which is also comes from the square, houses the Museum of Sacred Art, with its collection of religious works of the city. From the walls, the highest point of the medieval village, currency is a magnificent panoramic view of the whole site, as well as of the Alzou canyon and the protected landscapes of the surroundings of the Regional Natural Park of the Causses du Quercy

Half a century later the canal opened to traffic in 1856, and the link with the sea had moved to Sluis.

Winter by Tori Amos (à écouter impérativement)

I will probably post a few from this trip eventually. I woke up to see the sunrise from the Cinder Cone on the north side of the park. Next to the Cinder Cone are these amazing hills where the sand is many different colors. I chose to shot this panorama into the sun. This is 7 shots stitched manually in photoshop. This angle does not do such a great job at showing off the color, but it makes the contrast come to life. I loved this view because every tree was backlit, and the contrast on the hills was deep and rich due to where the sun was. The trail out to this place is a hard slog because its all deep sand, the whole way out, about 2 miles. Still, it was a good thing I got there in the middle of the night because the crowds sure came out with the sun. I had it to myself for a couple hours though. Staying on the trail here is imperative because the tracks one makes in the sand stay for a long time. I saw a few idiots tracks out there.

There are so many photograpers out there now that will say things like- the image is secondary to the experience. Or the real reward was being there. Nope. Not the way I see it. Getting up super early- sucks. Tredging along a trail in the dark through deep sand for 2 miles- sucks. There are parts that suck, but man do I love the end result.

The sun had set and its purplish colour on the clouds was reflected in a small patch of open water surrounded by snow and ice, but this Wilson’s Snipe continued to look for food to get it through a long night. This was on the winter solstice 2021 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, so the bird was facing 16 hours of darkness and cold temperatures. Thus the imperatives of survival forced it to abandon its usual secretive ways and continue to forage. (It is the case that approaching nightfall made it less conspicuous — I used fill flash to illuminate this individual in Carburn Park [it was not disturbed by the brief pulses of artificial light].)

but it is a good thing: more important than learning about technique, need to mature, to acquire knowledge and culture. At least, this is the way I feel. I am not one to pontificate. We must all find our way and follow it.

Photography requires hard work, seriousness and solid culture :-)

Our sweet dog, Cooper, adores chasing a ball thrown into the ocean's waves. He'll dive under the water to get that yellow orb, shaking his body heartily each time he returns to the edge of the water. During one such jaunt, I caught Cooper with his tongue out. It seemed that the taste of the salty water was just a bit too much for my buddy. It's imperative that all our dog friends have fresh water available. Additionally animals can become over-heated without shade. Everything in moderation.

For would be first time travellers to Singapore..

While travelling outdoors, especially during the day, it is imperative to take ample supplies of water. This advice probably goes without saying but it's better to be safe than sorry in the heat and humidity.

Last but not least, DON'T forget your camera.

A new marine composition showing a view of my imposing and admired Ifach Rock, taken from high up on the terrace of a villa in the Canuta Baja residential area of Calpe, on a sunny winter afternoon, despite the clouds that adorned the sky. I hadn't uploaded any picture of my beloved Ifach rock to my gallery in so long, so it was imperative to resolve urgently this ;-)

Update Friday, September 14, 2021:

Maya started having diarrhea again on Sunday with blood, we went to the vet this morning. She weighs only 2 kg 840 grams because she eats very little.

She has pancreatitis, so 10 days of antibiotics twice a day, 5 days of injection of an anti-diarrhea medication and I continue with her usual kibble without the gastrointestinal kibble.

I hope she will eat and keep her food rather than having diarrhea, it is imperative that she regain weight.

Update Friday, September 10, 2021:

Maya underwent an ultrasound of her stomach this afternoon. The radiologist says her intestine and pancreas are inflamed probably from the diarrhea, which lasted almost 2 weeks. So she doesn't see anything serious! I called his vet when I got home, he has to call me back tomorrow morning.

She has a lot of hair that she swallows while washing in her digestive tract, it should be given a paste to dissolve them.

Maya irregularly vomits fur sausages.

Possibly change his food, I have already introduced gastrointestinal croquettes for the moment.

She must eat because in less than a month she has lost 500 grams. During the past 2 weeks she has eaten little.

Thank you all for your kind messages.

--------

I am worried about Maya because since August 22 she has been having repeated diarrhea. She was hospitalized for 3 days to be infused being dehydrated and feverish, a few days after there was an improvement, the vet gave me digestive kibble and then the diarrhea started again. I saw the vet again on Friday and Saturday, she received an injection of cortisone, and 3 days of injection of a product similar to imodium and she is on antibiotics until Wednesday.

She hardly eats anything of her usual croquettes and does not play anymore. She is losing weight visibly.

Next Friday she has to undergo an ultrasound of her abdomen, it is a long time to wait until then if she still does not eat.

I commented a few photos but the heart is not there ....

"festina lente "

Festina lente (Classical Latin: [fɛsˈtiː.naː ˈlɛn.teː]) or speûde bradéōs (σπεῦδε βραδέως, pronounced [spêu̯.de bra.dé.ɔːs]) is a classical adage and oxymoron meaning "make haste slowly" (sometimes rendered in English as "more haste, less speed"[1]). It has been adopted as a motto numerous times, particularly by the emperors Augustus and Titus, then later by the Medicis and the Onslows.

The original form of the saying, σπεῦδε βραδέως speũde bradéōs, is Classical Greek, of which festina lente is the Latin translation. The words σπεῦδε and festina are second-person-singular present active imperatives, meaning "make haste", while βραδέως and lente are adverbs, meaning "slowly".

Balance between impulse and reason: To succeed, it is not enough to have energy and determination (impulse); you also need the ability to analyze and plan (reason). Festina lente reflects this balance between the force to act and the necessity to reflect beforehand.

Patience in the face of temptation: It can be interpreted as an encouragement not to be overwhelmed by the desire to rush things, whether it is in career, love, or everyday pleasures.

The commandments of justice and mercy, indeed of love or the golden rule, have after all inspired historic resistance to lawless aggressions and to oppressive law. The Torah, the Jewish law, is not reducible to legalism or exclusivism, but supports the “struggle for justice and mercy.” 26 Perhaps it is a matter of infusing the commandments within the atmosphere of the Eros: “Arise my love, and come away” is also an imperative—a proposition in the sense suggested in our earlier discussion of truth-claims! After all, the ethics of “should and should not” may also encode, should also encode the divine lure. For without strong supportive structures of community, society, liturgy, theology, the chances are minute that we can individually or collectively even discern the initial aim...

...How does this unforcing force work? By sparking your desire: desire ignites desire. This sparking process takes place largely beneath and before our consciousness. Sometimes glimpsed in a dream, in a stranger’s face, in a flow of grief, a comforting embrace, a surge of music, a private illumination, a public act of truth. In conscience, shame, guilt, awe at a random sunset. The spark is what we hope for in prayer, meditation, worship. We infer it—and cannot in truth make any certain claims about it, as in “God told me this or that; God wills this or that for me.” For it comes already coated in our experience, in our own subjectivity, in the aims of our own socialized desire.

The need for flood-proof projects along the Peixeus to protect crops and farmers' income has been imperative for decades.

However, the 'responsible' carelessness has always surpassed even the depleted riverbeds, and the indignation of the world has also taken on the form of a 'flood'.

Paradoxically, the new self-governing authorities have fallen into the job and projects have begun rapidly on many "fronts".

The most extensive, at least from what I've seen, are in progress in the area of the village where I live.

This, obviously, will dramatically change the landscape and images like this and the following
