Black and white landscape photography from The Arrochar Alps, Scotland. A view of Beinn Ime (the taller right hand snow-capped mountain down the valley) and Beinn an Lochain (the furthest right more rugged snow-capped peak partially hidden) captured from the Western shore of Loch Fyne near to Drishaig.
Beinn Ime is the tallest mountain in The Arrochar Alps and stands at 1,011 metres (3,317 ft) tall. Beinn an Lochain stands at 901 metres (2,956 ft).
Beinn Ime, with a height over 3,000 ft is classed as a Munro (Named after Sir Hugh Munro) and is one of 282 Munro's in Scotland. Some people like to go 'Munro Bagging' where they climb all of them. Sadly, before my ankle injury, I only had the opportunity to climb one of the Munro's, Schiehallion (not pictured). I'll never be able to manage the uneven climb up another now but I can enjoy the views from down below.
A handheld shot on a gloomy day - Enjoy!
Back at the height of 2021's summer, we were similarly treated to a series of temperature/cloud inversions. Not being a big fan of summer (heat, beasties, sweat, tourists, etc), it seems remarkable that I made the effort to venture into the Arrochar hills in the wee small hours in order to grab a decent image or two.
I paid the price dearly late on, of course, & was met by around 3 million people shuffling their way up to The Cobbler. The magic on the summits had long since gone by then, so it was difficult endeavouring not to appear like a smug git as they progessed forward into the sticky, claggy, midge-ridden land above.

In many restaurants in France, dogs are admitted and sit gently next to their humans whilst they're having their meal. Six tables were occupied when we went to a creperie for my birthday and three couples were accompanied by dogs ! This is one of them. He shared a few pieces of "galette" with his humans and behaved beautifully 😁 !
I took a shine to this little rock huddle whilst wandering along the pleasant ridge from A'Chrois to Beinn Narnain, back in late January.
There's a faint hint of the central rock imitating Beinn Ime in the distance.

I'd love to say that I'd just sat out frenzied storm in order to capture this savage scene depicting an arctic Beinn Ime in the process of breaking free of wind-shredded clouds. . . but I'd be lying.
In reality there was but a modest breeze - & the cloud was simply early morning thick stratus reluctantly being ushered off the hill, allowing the sun full access to the summit. No heroics required this time. ;- )
One of the "Bridges of Madison County" is shown here in Saint Charles, Iowa. This wooden bridge was built in 1870 over the Middle River and relocated in 1887 over Clinton Creek. The Imes bridge was moved to it's present location in 1977. Mobile photo.

Another from that recent glorious morning above the clouds in the Arrochar Hills.
Being Narnain (from where the photo was taken) has a rather curious summit area. It's as if some ancient mythological giant took a monumental cleaver & sliced off a possible regular 'peak' on this particular mountain, leaving a large flat, bouldery expanse that could easily accommodate a large sports stadium.
Beinn Ime is the highest of the Arrochar Alps in the southern highlands in Scotland. it stands at 3317ft and is the landmark to the entrance to Argyll
Butterbridge crosses the Allt Kinglas in glen Kinglas to the west of the rest and be thankful. it takes its name from the historic tradition of bringing the cattle high up into the glen in the summer months for pasture
Photo. Butterfly puppets often fall from the branches. In a butterfly garden they are carefully collected and brought to a safe place were they are hanged on pins with a drop of glue to wait for the great moment to come.
Early morning dappled sunshine graces the Arrochar hills.
A choice had to be made here: slightly later on, more of the scene came under the influence of the rising sun, including the Cobbler. The overall picture just felt less powerful, alas, & I've given this one the nod - rightly or wrongly.
Beinn Ime is the highest of the Arrochar Alps. Usually ascended by its broad southern slopes from the Bealach a'Mhaim, the other sides of the mountain are much steeper and more rugged.
. . . Beinn Chorranach & Beinn Narnain flanking.
That woolly cumulus had only just cleared the tops. I'd nipped up Narnain & Ime just before & been consumed by this thick coating, preventing any views. Negotiating semi-hard snow proved a little testing in my in arguably inappropriate low-cut shoes. All obstacles were easily dealt with employing sufficient concentration, mind you.
Having distantly gazed at Ime for the long incarceration months, it felt odd to be actually on it, revelling in the Spring snow. Also, hearing croaking Ptarmigan for the first time in a long time added immeasurably this fine day's list of qualities.

Light machine gun chambered in 9x36mm MSV, a slow and heavy type of intermediate round. Manufacted by Brazil's Military Institute of Engineering (IME) under the codename "Caiman".
This machine gun uses light composite materials to reduce its overall weight. It is belt-fed and comes with a standard 75-round box.
A mechanism in the receiver allows for the use to unlock the barrel assembly and let it slide out of the handguard, being an efficient method to change overheated barrels.

This one goes back 14 years to a rather wonderful if chilly trip to Scotland. We had three consecutive days of similar weather. This image being taken by the summit of Beinn Ime on our first day. This rather fuzzy view looks east in the general direction of Ben Lomond, although i am ashamed to say I can't recognise Lomond in this view.
