In my local park we have a resident pair of swans.
In the last four years the male (cob) has lost his lifelong mate, found a new one and lost her within the space of two years.
This year he return with a third mate and visitors to the park have been waiting anxious over the past few weeks as the female (pen) sat on the nest.
Imagine my delight when I went to the park and found this beautiful scene with dad and his five newly hatched cygnets in the reeds.
My abstract version was created today at 15:07 p.m.

Last night I travelled to the moon.
We were lucky and had clear skies in Montreal most of the night. I stood with a small group of people and watched in awe as the moon transformed before our eyes!

It wasn’t a day for tripods and to be honest this is the only time I used one all day. I may have intended for this to be a photography day but once my boots were on I was hell bent in doing a route. I took plenty of snaps of what instantly appealed but I wasn’t looking to hang around and squeeze an image of what could be interesting. So I switched cameras preferring to carry close at hand my xt2 with the 16-80mm lens rather that my usual preference for snaps my xh1 with 70-300mm which stayed in my bag. It was a great walk with challenging weather which managed to put into the background the horrors of what had erupted in eastern Europe for the time being. A characteristic lone hawthorn stands just of track dusted with snow pellets. Can you imagine how green this scene would be in summer, heavily covered in tall bracken or in the early autumn with the red berries of the hawthorn shine through the thinning leaves on the tree and the still tall but rusting bracken. Here’s hoping that these seasonal scene will be greeted by a walker who is not trying to escape black thoughts of war. it's not that bad actually. Yes, the longer its in there, the more risk there is of mould and disease. But the thirty ton mass retains a fair amount of heat for a long while, and more crucially gets fresh air blown in periodically to keep the various moulds away.

The south Island of New Zealand brings some very clear skies. Going to bed with thick cloud cover, I crossed all my fingers and toes that when I would wake in the early hours of the morning, it would be to clear skies. On cue, with the alarm waking me at 1am, the stars shone bright, the milkyway arched perfectly over and then behind this glorious lighthouse.

El Strawberry Fields Memorial es un pequeño jardín de Central Park (New York) dedicado a la memoria de John Lennon. Se encuentra justo enfrente del singular y precioso edificio Dakota, residencia de John y Yoko (ella aun reside allí), y en cuya puerta principal fue asesinado John.

Today I'm remembering John Lennon who was murdered on this date in 1980. I actually saw Bruce Springsteen play the Spectrum in Philadelphia on December 09, 1980. During his encore, he and the E Street Band played Twist and Shout in tribute to John Lennon.
