At what point does a photo become an illustration or work of art? Photoshop recently launched its Sky Replacement tool, and this weekend I gave it a whirl. You can see the original image here:

The sky replacement was very, very simple. The water reflection took a lot of trial and effort; it's not yet part of the sky replacement built-in tool. The water area still needs about an hour more of attention to clean up some pixel peeping details.

It's an amazing transformation into a believable scene I dream of capturing - I am sure I could sell this as a work of art, and most people would never question the authenticity.

At what point do our edits change a photo to an illustration or work of art?

Ok, this idea is maybe too late for calendars that are for the year 2012, but with the calendar years coming full circle every 28 years this far-distant-future-dated calendar will work also in 2040, 2068, 2096....etc. - cool, huh?

Maybe i get this thing done within a month or will make it a life project until 2040 :D hehe.
