Found a roll of Ilford HP5 Plus rolling around in my drawer that I shot in 2002. It had a note on it that said "push 3 stops." Three stops seemed like a crazy amount, so I asked them to push it 2 when I dropped it off to get developed last week. Of course the roll ended up way overcooked.
I shot this roll with an old Topcon, the 35mm SLR that got me through all of my junior high and high school photography classes in the 80's. I took it into a shop and had the light meter checked; it was off by a couple stops at least. I recall the camera repair guy telling me to adjust the ISO to make up for it, but I have no idea why I also wrote myself a note to push it three stops.
I bet this camera will still take great pictures if I used a hand-held meter. My dad still has it and a bag full of lenses. It's the camera he also used as a young adult.
I kind of like the extreme grain and contrast that came from the processing it so many years after I shot it and having it pushed, though.
