Salted Pretzels in Milk Chocolate, with some additional pretzels and sea salt taken for this weeks MM Theme of "Zed" HMM
Clam chowder is any of several chowder soups in American cuisine containing clams and broth or milk. In addition to clams, common ingredients include diced potatoes, salt pork, onions, and celery. Other vegetables are not typically used. Clam chowder is usually served with saltine crackers or small, hexagonal oyster crackers. The dish originated in the Eastern United States, but is now commonly served in restaurants throughout the country.
This is my contribution to this weeks Macro Mondays theme of Vibrant Minimalism - a juicy ripe strawberry with a pinkish background - I confess to eating the Strawberry HMM
Usually I start my 365 with a breakfast and while I love sausages, black pudding and bacon I intend to take some vegetarian options this year to improve my diet. So here is an Indian style quarter pounder with no meat, mushrooms, tomatoes, beans and an egg. Delicious! Good luck everyone with the 365 and with the new year!
Today's dinner was -
Barbequed green king prawns that were marinated in toasted pistachio nuts, chillies, turmeric, ginger, and coconut milk. Lime juice sqeezed on top.
Steamed vegetables - carrot. baby corn, snow peas.
Steamed rice.
Anyone for cookies?
These are yummo, I baked them.
Have a lovely weekend!
Beautiful autumn weather in Sydney.
This is my contribution to this weeks Macro Mondays theme of Pasta. A forkful of delicious tagliatelle mixed with a sun-dried tomato pesto.....HMM
However you pronounce it, this has nothing more than that as the main ingredient. It is cold outside and I am in my kitchen with my apron and camera :-) trying an old and simple recipe of my friend's.
I can call myself a decent cook, but I am terrible at giving recipes, in terms of measures!
Here is the recipe for this Potato dish.
What you will need:
Potatoes, boiled, peeled and diced.
Dry red peppers
Coarsely ground black pepper (I prefer freshly crushed)
Salt
Sugar
White vinegar
Oil for tempering
How to do:
1. Boil and dice potatoes.
2. In a pan, add a little oil.
3. Pinch and throw a few red peppers and crushed black peppercorns. Saute.
4. Bring the flame down and add salt, a little sugar and vinegar.
5. Add potatoes and mix well and serve.
It has the spice of peppers and the tang of vinegar :-)
[There is a possibility of charring the sugar if the flame is not simmered]
How many peppers, how much sugar, salt and vinegar? Depends on your taste :-)
I was so excited to make the mango salsa this afternoon since 1) I bought "tons" of mangos and 2) I couldn't wait to pick our home-grown cilantro. We don't have any tomatoes on our vine yet so I did have to buy some tomatoes to make the salsa along with the organic chips and red onion. (I forgot to buy the jalapeno!). I was so pleased with the result since this was my first time making mango salsa. I was always too lazy so I'd buy the store bought one but now that we have our little veggie garden I am inspired to make things from scratch. ;-) The good things is that I am eating a ton of veggies . . tomatoes, onions and cilantro; however, the bad thing is that I'm eating lots more of the white corn tortillas and lots and lots of salt.
Gotta love quick photographs when you've got a huge test you've gotta worry about. I'm really not this messy when I eat but, I decided since it is International Silly Face Week I will try my best to be silly each day even if it is a bad day. We will see. At least this the boyfriend will be happy, he's been missing my blue eyes, I can imagine.
The famous Triple XXX Family Restaurant in West Lafayette, Indiana. This place is pretty great. It's been on Food Network a few times.

This is somehow one of my most-viewed photos, I assume because people think it is something naughty. Sorry all you people, it's just food.
The Triple XXX Drive-In restaurant was Indiana's first drive-in, and opened in 1929. It was featured on the Food Network TV show, "Diners, Drive-Ins, & Dives." The atmosphere was great and the food was fantastic. I highly recommend it if you're in the neighborhood! (The neighborhood of Lafayette, Indiana)
Oh, and the Triple XXX Brand root beer is definitely the best root beer I've ever had in my life.
This omelet might have been the best ever too. It doesn't look like much, but geez it was good.
i owed the irs for the first time this year (every other year i've gotten money back). ugh.

High class.
The final dish on my Mardi Gras menu was the stalwart... The Muffuletta. As with King Cakes, Jambalaya, and Gumbo, there are a ton of places in New Orleans to sell you a Muffuletta. But anybody who knows anything about anything knows the best Muffuletta comes from the Central Grocery across from the French Market. After all, the store's owner invented the damn thing back in the early 1900s. Getting my Muffuletta right was critical to me, so I used the recipe I thought stayed as faithful to the original as possible. And although Danno states "...it's no Central Grocery," I swear to God, he stole his recipe directly from Salvatore Lupo, himself. It was absolutely spot-on -- I couldn't believe it. The only thing I did differently was pulse the olive salad in a processor a bit, since the Giardiniera's cauliflower was a bit unwieldy. And I baked a much thinner bread loaf than I'd have preferred. But seriously... Danno's olive salad recipe is fantastic, and you won't find anything better.
This is a Weight Watchers recipe that I love. The cheese sauce is given most of it's thickness from butternut squash.
And anything with cilantro is teh win for me.
yogurt, kimchi (please give us something else!), bread with pineapple and all sorts of canned fruits...I didn't like it...but the bread part was nice, tofu soup with radsih, rice and curry..Japanese curry...it's not as bad..I actually ate some.
I think May will be the last month for school lunch photos. The lunches are pretty boring... = (
I began with actual marinade mix, which I added to the meat and marinated myself.
Korean BBQ short ribs (kalbi).
Delicious avocado Bubble Tea Smoothie from Thai Bowl in Chicago. I wasn't sure I would like it but I really did, it was great and came with a big slice of avocado in the top!
