It’s tough to be a transit company in the era of Elon Musk. You have the complex job of running a massive bus, subway and rail system, and at the same time, he keeps appearing in the news media with reports on his Boring Company.
The news is all about how he will build a Hyperloop that will whisk people through a city or across the country through a high speed, underground tube, at a fraction of a cost of traditional transit systems. And it can be difficult to discount his promises - after all, he has reinvented the automative, space and battery energy industry with bold, audacious goals and stunning activity. He’s launched a car to Mars!
You’ve got long capital investment lead times, and complex systems to run - but your ridership keeps hearing about these fascinating new ideas, and wonders if you are in the game.
So what do you do? That’s the focus of one thing I’ll be doing today and tomorrow as I finalize the slide deck for an upcoming keynote in a few weeks in Nashville, where I will do a talk for senior executives of many of the major transit companies on the future of urban transit!

Hyperloop Seating System
Hyperloop, a high speed transportation system, promises to revolutionise the way we live, travel and communicate. My final year project explores the feasibility of the hyperloop proposal as a whole though the lens of the design engineering process. The final output is an ultra light, reversible chair made from carbon fibre reinforced polymer, which promises to make maximum use of available space and reduce the overall energy cost of the whole system.

El proyecto Hyperloop de Elon Musk acaba de dar uno de los pasos más importantes de los últimos meses. Siempre que hablamos de este medio de transporte se crea mucho debate en cuanto hasta qué punto nos están vendiendo humo o una realidad. Pues bien, después de realizar excavaciones de pruebas en California, The Borgin Company ha obtenido permiso para iniciar las primeras excavaciones oficiales de la primera línea de este medio de transporte.
Tal y como informó el Baltimore Sun, se le ha concedido permiso para excavar 10,3 millas debajo de la porción estatal de la ruta verde Baltimore-Washington. Esta sería la primera parte de la línea Hyperloop que Musk quiere construir entre Washington y Nueva York, el primero de los muchos pasos que serán necesarios para convertir este proyecto en realidad.

Business students were among the members of Badgerloop, placed high and won innovation honors at the SpaceX Hyperloop Competition in Hawthorne, California, in August. The business students joined with engineering students who designed a high-speed transportation pod to travel through large tubes above ground. Business students learned from engineering students while sharing their knowledge in areas such as marketing, supply chain, or operations.
