another wright streetcar in pvs along with a nat ex bendybus

I gave Moxie away yesterday. I am heartsick. But he weighs more than 7 pounds now and still has some growing to do, and Molly, still recovering and not eating well and therefore feeling weaker than she should, is back down to 4.5 pounds, and when they play, he has been hurting her or scaring her by jumping on top of her. He is by no means malicious or aggressive, just big and strong, and Molly is tiny and not strong. Through my vet’s vet tech, I found someone that Best Friends, the rescue center where I got Moxie, approved to take him into her household of two young cats and a dog. She picked him up yesterday and reported this morning that he is “doing great and is getting along well with everybody.”

I can’t stop crying, though. Please send along some hugs. I need them.

Introduction

I

Holding faith so long, now I see the light.

Experienced ups and downs, persecutions and hardships.

Happiness and sorrows, garment wet with tears.

Countless nights, stayed awake and prayed.

Rejected by the world; distanced by loved ones.

Wandering every day, having no resting place.

Freedom, just a sham, no human rights to share.

Deep hatred of Satan! When to right the wrong?

This world, dark and evil, I desire more the light of my life.

Christ is the truth, the way, and the life. I've made up my mind to follow Him.

This world, dark and evil, I desire more the light of my life.

Christ is the truth, the way, and the life. I've made up my mind to follow Him.

II

God struck the shepherds; a tribulation arose.

Dark clouds pressing down, terror everywhere.

Trapped in devil's hand, narrowly escaped from death.

Comforts of God's words, filled my heart with strength.

Suffered all torments, I know God is love.

God rules over everything, yet man's faith is poor.

Trial of fiery lake, I reap a lot from it.

I see through Satan, hate great red dragon.

Red dragon, mean and cruel, devoured and corrupted human souls.

Truth and life, not easy to get; I'll love God more to comfort His heart.

Red dragon, mean and cruel, devoured and corrupted human souls.

Truth and life, not easy to get; I'll love God more to comfort His heart.

III

Thinking of God's work, I feel God is kind.

Accepting God's judgment , disposition being changed.

Painful chastisement, I know more of God.

It is such an honor to follow practical God.

Spending for the true God, my heart feels comfort.

Faithfully having duty done, enjoying in bitterness.

Life's short, a blink of eye; loving God, most happy.

Blessed to serve God, I can't ask for more.

It's practical God who saves me. It's He who gives me a true life.

I have realized my long-cherished dream. I'll keep on running ahead.

Fall in Sumpter Along the Elkhorn Scenic Byway in Baker County Oregon

Enjoying a beautiful fall drive along the Elkhorn Scenic Byway watching the fall foliage and a little wildlife in the Elkhorn Mountains of Eastern Oregon in the town of Sumpter, including a little hike exploring the Sumpter Dredge State Park.

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Sumpter Valley Gold Dredge is the last of three built on the Powder River. Built in 1935, it ran until 1954. It dug up more than four million dollars worth of gold. The Dredge is located just a block off of the main street of the small historic mining town of Sumpter.

Visitors to the park can also try their luck at gold panning and explore the vast system of nature and interpretive trails that meander through the tailings left by the dredge as it worked it’s way up the river bed more than a half century ago.

The Elkhorn Scenic Byway is one of three Oregon scenic byways that connect in Baker County and is a spectacular scenic loop passing through the historic towns of Haines, Granite, Sumpter and Baker City as it meanders through the majestic Elkhorn Mountain range.

In the winter the road closes between Granite and Anthony Lakes Ski area and the area becomes a winter playground for skiers at Anthony Lakes and snowmobilers near the towns of Sumpter and Granite.

I mentioned in the previous description that the blog opened back up last weekend, but that’s only partially truthful – it refers only to posts that I personally have written. In case you missed it, my pal the singoil.blogspot.com/ Sing Oil Blogger dusted off the ol’ blog off and warmed it back up with a very special two-part contributor post last month! The subject matter was none other than the famed Disco Kroger in the Buckhead area of Atlanta, GA. Incidentally, I briefly covered that store myself in midsouthretail.blogspot.com/2022/11/broken-chain-zesto-pi... my previous last post, way back in November of last year; the Sing Oil Blogger built on that with his own coverage of the store while open, which was midsouthretail.blogspot.com/2023/05/kroger-259-atlanta-ga... published on my blog, as well as post-closure coverage from during the auction, which was singoil.blogspot.com/2023/05/disco-kroger-final-hours.html published over on his namesake blog. For all three parts of that trifecta, please feel free to check out the hyperlinks above!

We’ll resume our regularly scheduled flickr postings next time, so stick around…

India, Mumbai, Red Lotus.

For the Buddhists, Lotus symbolizes the most exalted state of man, his head held high, pure & undefiled in the sun, his feet rooted in the world of experience.

The lotus is one of Buddhism's best-recognized motifs & appears in all kinds of Buddhist art across all Buddhist cultures. Scrolling lotuses often embellish Buddhist textiles, ceramics & architecture.

Important Buddhist deities are associated in some manner with the lotus, seated upon either a lotus in full bloom or holding one in their hands. In some images of standing Buddhas rests each foot on a separate lotus.

The lotus does not grow in Tibet & so Tibetan art has only stylized versions of it, yet it appears frequently with Tibetan deities & among the Eight Auspicious Symbols.

The colour of the lotus has an important bearing on the symbolism associated with it;

White Lotus characterises the state of spiritual perfection & total mental purity.

Pink Lotus, the supreme lotus, generally reserved for the highest deity. Thus, naturally it is associated with the Great Buddha himself.

Red Lotus signifies the original nature purity of the heart. It is the lotus of love, compassion, passion all other qualities of the heart.

Blue Lotus is a symbol of the victory of the spirit over the senses & signifies the wisdom of knowledge.

Lotus is also an extreme resourceful plant, the flower, besides religious importance in Asia, adds to a beautiful decoration, the seeds & the stalks find use mainly in Asian cuisine & the leaves helps science for studies to produce water or dust resistant material.

“Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end.”

This bowl.

Speaking of beginning, where do I even begin? This bowl has had an incredible impact. The impact has been on me, and from what some of you have told me, it's had quite an impact on you as well.

When I started this project, I had no idea that shooting 100 pictures of this object would turn into the powerful thing that it has. But it has. (Can you believe I thought it would simply teach me some things about photography?)

If you have a lot of time someday, you could go back and look through my set, www.flickr.com/photos/artsyt/sets/72157612116111891/ and read the stories of the bowl. You can see where it's (and therefore I've) been. You can see the seasons change around the bowl. You can see holidays come. And go. You can see boring times, busy times, and traumatic times. But, since you probably don't have a lot of time, (and probably aren't even reading THIS) I will try to make this short.

-i got this bowl as a christmas gift from my amazing friend sheila

-she really is amazing. she inspires and motivates me like crazy

-she's a potter. and she made this bowl

-i felt like i wanted to try and promote sheila's work, so i chose the bowl as my object

-sheila said yes. and i started

-the bowl traveled w/ me day to day....doing the usual

-i tried to mix it up from time to time, and be a lil fancy

-the bowl served as a diary sometimes

-sometimes the bowl forced me to take pictures when i might not have otherwise

-strangers asked me about the bowl

-many of my friends/flickr contacts met up w/ the bowl

-the bowl gained it's own fan club

-the bowl traveled with me on weekend trips

-the bowl became a part of me pretty much

-it traveled w/ me this summer--this amazing summer

-i dropped the bowl

-it broke

-i was devastated

-many of you were devastated

-many offered solutions

-many offered suggestions

-i learned these lessons:

nothing is forever.

don't get attached to "things".

slow down.

always think of alternatives.

keep your options open.

-so i devised a plan to deal with the broken pieces

So here's where it picks up again.

I have decided to use the bowl pieces as a way to reach out and spread the spirit/story. I want the bowl's story to touch others, and to make a bigger impact than it would have made on my shelf as one single lonely dust collecting bowl. Now it has more strength, more power.

Through flickr, I found an amazing jeweler, Tracy www.flickr.com/people/polishedtwo/. I adored her work and asked her if she'd like to participate. She was thrilled, but pointed me to Kari, www.flickr.com/people/karicrumpmosaics/ who had the capability to solder the pieces. I proposed my project to Kari. She agreed. We quickly became email friends and I shipped the shards off to Kansas. Kari turned the shards into amazingly funky cool pendants. VERY funky and cool. Yes, this chick rocks. In fact, I have found my new favorite etsy store.

In the meantime, I also contacted Gleaner's in Detroit. This whole "bowl feeding the hungry" thing has been stuck in my head for quite some time now.....

So, you, the new owners of the bowl pieces will also be contributors to Gleaner's.

Here's where you can get involved:

1. Contact me if you would like to purchase a pendant. I will ship it to you, along w/ a "bowl moo card" and possibly other goodies.

2. Please click on the link for Gleaner's and donate as much as you'd like to their organization. I'm hoping for at least $25 (which buys 75 meals!) per person. The more, the better. If you are comfortable sharing, please list your donation/story on this comment thread so we can keep track of the funds the bowl as earned for this wonderful organization. I was going to try and do a big donation at one time after I sold all the pendants, but that just became a nightmare. So now I'm trusting you to do it on your own. Thank you.

3. Unfortunately, I will also need at least $7 from you to cover the shipping/packaging (bubble wrap and envelopes, people!) and to help offset the cost of Kari's work, the moo cards, etc. I won't get rich. I probably won't even break even. I just can't afford to lose even more money over this......You can contact me to let me know how you'd like to send it to me. (YES, THAT'S ONLY $32 FOR A REALLY SWEET PIECE OF JEWELRY WITH A FEEL-GOOD STORY THAT MAKES A DIFFERENCE!....and that's way better than the Home Shopping Network, right?)

4. Wear the pendant proudly.

5. Tell the story often.

6. Photograph yourself wearing the pendant. Send it to me or upload it under this pic.

7. Get extra ones as gifts. And tell them the story. And tell them to tell the story. And tell them to photograph the pendants as well.

8. Know that you helped something very special to live on, to keep going, and that you had a huge role in a new beginning, and most importantly, in feeding the hungry.

the "fine print"

*i have no idea how quickly the pendants will "go"....be aware that they may be gone quickly (kari will be doing the second "batch" soon....so you may need to be patient.

**please go support kari: www.flickr.com/people/karicrumpmosaics/ or www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=6173606

***please contact sheila if you want your own bowl/vase/mug/whatever. it just may change your life www.flickr.com/photos/sheshebee/

****please REALLLLY go support Gleaner's. www.gcfb.org/site/PageServer?pagename=homepage

please. thank you.

So the bowl will continue. It will make a difference.

And there may be a book coming out about the bowl. And t-shirts. And baby bowls too. LOL. We'll see..... :)

thanks to all of you that have jumped on board w/ this project. it's been quite the journey, and i feel like it's ending and just beginning at the same time.

Back in 2012, I commissioned Peter Moorman to create a 4” x 4” canvas miniature of Zoe Bear, which I shared with you at the time and which now appears below in the first comment. This time Peter crafted one for Molly, and I hope you love it as much as I do. If you do, perhaps you would consider asking him to make one for you, too.

It was painted on canvas, then varnished to protect it. It came with and resides on a plain wooden stand, but I wanted to present it to you framed in black. Peter lives in the Netherlands but has an Etsy page, and he ships all over the world. Peter was delightful to work with again, remaining quick to reply to e-mails and attentive to my comments as he worked through various sketches until he arrived at the one he knew I'd love, which so nicely captures Molly’s happy personality. In fact, this portrait is more realistic than most of his more whimsical, cartoon-like creations but more stylistic than Zoe Bear's because Molly's fur just lent itself to that treatment. Do check out his work (paintings, cards, prints, painted eggs, etc.) on Etsy and consider "Liking" his Facebook page.

Ripe with political satire, Hogan's Heroes ran for six popular seasons on CBS 1965-1971 following the hilarious exploits of a group of allied soldiers operating a secret intelligence operation behind enemy lines in a German POW camp during World War II. This MOC depicts a section of Stalag 13 from the show complete with German and Allied offices/living quarters, along with the extensive tunnel network built underneath the camp. 11 fully equipped rooms are modeled in detail depicting how these POWs operated. Included are numerous elements from the show's episodes.

This diorama won "Best Vignette" at Brickworld Chicago 2014. It also won "First Place for Small Dioramas" in the 2013 Lego Military Annual Build on Flicker: www.flickr.com/groups/legomilitaryannualbuildcompetition/...

It was also chosen as the "Brickarms Model Of the Month" for July 2013:

www.brickarmsforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=13829

The extensive lighting (see www.flickr.com/photos/brian_williams/9270781157/) is by Brickstuff. Their system of thin wires and LED panels is well-suited for interior lighting and a lot of fun to install.

The Grand Canal Docks first opened in 1796. At the time they were the world's largest docks. They fell into decline within just a few decades, due mostly to disuse with the arrival of the railways. The landscape was overwhelmed by Dublin Gas Company's mountains of black coal, along with chemical factories, tar pits, bottle factories and iron foundries. However, bakers and millers maintained business along the southern edge of the inner basin.

By the 1960s, the Grand Canal Docks were almost completely derelict. By 1987, it was decided that Hanover Quay was too toxic to sell. Regeneration began in 1998, when Bord Gáis sold the Dublin Docklands Development Authority (DDDA) the former gasworks site located in the area between Sir John Rogerson's Quay and Hanover Quay for €19 million. The DDDA spent €52 million decontaminating the land, even though the likely return was estimated at just €40 million. The decontamination took place under the supervision of the Environmental Protection Agency between 2002 and 2006. The process involved constructing an underground wall eight metres deep around the affected area and the contaminated land dug out and removed. By the time the decontamination was finished, an inflated property bubble and increased demand in the area (brought on, in part, by the decision by Google to set up its European headquarters nearby), allowed the authority to sell the land for €300 million. The DDDA injected some of its new wealth into the area's infrastructure including seers, street lighting, and civic spaces.

A number of significant developments have happened since involving the construction of millions worth of real estate, the arrival of several thousand new residents, and the establishment of what is now known as Silicon Docks.

Most of the buildings surrounding Grand Canal Square such as the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre, The Marker Hotel, and HQ office development, were developed by McCauley Daye O’Connell Architects. Notable buildings in the Grand Canal Dock area include:

Alto Vetro - The Alto Vetro apartment building was awarded the Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland’s (RIAI) Silver Medal for Housing (2007-2008).It was built by the Montevetro developers Treasury Holdings.

Boland's Mill - Boland's Mill was a functioning mill until 2001. The site, including older stone buildings and taller concrete silos, is now derelict. The site is currently undergoing a €150 million reconstruction to become Bolands Quay, accommodating new residences, commercial, retail, and civic spaces.

Bord Gáis Energy Theatre - The Bord Gáis Energy Theatre is the largest theatre in Ireland. It designed by Polish-American architect Daniel Liebeskind. It was opened as the Grand Canal Theatre in 2010 but renamed in March 2012 as part of a paid naming rights agreement.

The Factory - The Factory houses Irish Film and Television Network studios, as well as rehearsal and recording studios where a number of U2's albums were recorded.

Google Docks - The Montevetro building completed in 2010 stands at a height of 67 metres and is currently the tallest commercial building in Dublin. It was sold to Google in January 2011 and subsequently renamed "Google Docks". In 2014, the Google Docks building was joined by an "iconic" curving three-pronged steel and transparent glass footbridge to Google's two office buildings across Barrow Street - Gordon House and Gasworks House. It has been named "Hyperlink".

The Marker Hotel - The Marker Hotel is one of only six of The Leading Hotels of the World in Ireland. It was designed in 2004 by Portuguese architect Manuel Aires Mateus. It opened in 2013, and offers the city’s first rooftop terrace and bar.[

Millennium Tower - Millennium Tower is an apartment building located on the Grand Canal outer basin. At 63 metres in height, it was the tallest storied building in Dublin from 1998 - 2009. [I dislike it].

Having gone beyond the first couple of months, the 72 Hyperlink articulated Streetcars have settled into the service. Here an evening shot of 19015 about to leave for Bradford, still shows how well the new buses look. First West Yorkshire hope to have all twenty eight Streetcars in service during 2013, allowing for a five minute headway.

Beginning Sunday December 2nd and running through the end of January, 12 of my pinhole photographs will be displayed at Elysian Brewing Company's Tangletown brewpub. The exhibition showcases my work in two distinct areas: interiors of breweries/bars and landscape photography.

For those of you in the Seattle area, I invite all of you to venture on down to the brewpub to enjoy a pint and some food, and see my work in person. For more information on the venue please click the hyperlink provided above.

NGC 5367 is a young open star cluster located in the constellation Centaurus. It lies at a distance of approximately 3,000 light-years from Earth. This cluster is relatively young, with an estimated 1-2 million years of age.

NGC 5367 is notable for its rich population of young, hot stars, which are responsible for illuminating the surrounding nebula. The cluster is embedded within a diffuse emission nebula known as the NGC 5367 Nebula or Caldwell 46. This nebula is characterized by its glowing gas and dust, which is ionized by the intense radiation emitted by the young stars within the cluster.

The NGC 5367 cluster and its associated nebula provide an excellent laboratory for studying the star formation processes and the interaction between newly formed stars and the surrounding interstellar medium. It is a popular target for amateur astronomers and astrophotographers due to its striking appearance and relative accessibility in the southern skies.

I always like looking for hidden gems in the data set I collected. In the lower left, just above the signature there are a few interesting objects. The standout for me is pgc184310. I think it looks like a Ring Galaxy, and I really love Ring Galaxies. They are so cool.

The following hyperlink gives a little more information. It's small with an angular size of 0.270 X 0.232 (arcmin).
