Is so important for overall health and date night. Last night was my first time in the kayak this year. Finally that crazy wind disappeared. There was still some ice which made for some interesting pics. I found these (Bonaparte's Gulls?) quite entertaining as I never see them here and apparently so did the eagle perched in a tree behind me. I wondered if he dined on them or not, he looked very full and satisfied. This was my third time trying to get close where they didn't fly away... I guess they figured out I wasn't much of a threat after all. I caught a chill I couldn't get rid of until I took a hot bath when I got home but it sure was great to be out on the water after a long winter. For anyone who wants to know, my Loons are back.

The first thing that I always do when I remove a lens cap is to clean the lens with a microfiber cloth before taking any photos. But those little cloths have a way of eventually getting lost. So I am hoping that this new little pouch that I just acquired will end that problem.
The pouch has a hook on it to attach to my camera bag, and it contains a microfiber cloth attached on the inside that can be pulled out, and then stuffed back in when I'm finished using it.

The Surgeon had to be called in to Animal Hospital the other day, as Reindeer had sustained some quite nasty shake injuries. As the op was progressing, it became apparent that the hot weather was taking it's toll, and called Matron to tell her that hygiene at the hospital was a little suspect and most of the toys were, well, very whiffy. Matron was horrified and they were all bundled poste haste into the washing machine with a good dose of Persil, and from there hung by their ears or whatever appendage was handy on to the washing line. Ki was very pleased to see them return clean and dry, and ready for inspection

Red-billed Oxpecker and Impala ewe. It is believed that oxpeckers also feed on the earwax and dandruff of mammals and not only on ticks, small insects, larvae and other parasites. This Impala should clearly get a clean bill of health.
There is nothing I like more than making people smile. My audience used to be a classroom full of five and six year old children. Now I am fortunate enough to be retired....and that energy is aimed directly at my own grandchildren. Wanting to surprise them during an overnight stay, I asked my dinosaur friends to grab a few items from the bathroom counter. My plastic buddies waited patiently until they discovered this surprise. I believe brushing your teeth should always make you smile.
This is the first time I've caught a gecko with its tongue out. It may have been taunting me, or maybe it was sizing up my potential as a meal, not sure which. Anyway, this one didn't seem as timid as most, and scurried down the trunk of this manila palm until it was just above my head. It repeated this eye-licking maneuver several times, and I was lucky enough to capture one of them. The whole open-mouth-stick-out-tongue-lick-eyeball-retract-tongue-close-mouth sequence only takes a fraction of a second, so I was amazed I caught it at all.
Maybe now I can move on to cats or babies or something (ya, right!)
