On a recent trip to Kokee I was surprised to see a ton of hydrangeas around our cabin site. I didn't bring my extension tubes so had to settle with flipping my 50mm and having very little depth of field.

The first blossom of our new Blushing Bride Hydrangea

This hydrangea is from my father-in-law's yard, but my wife still planted it.

To our surprise our hydrangea has been going wild with abundant and huge blooms even if the calendar says it's getting to be time to rest.

The "long goodbye" to the Hydrangeas is in full swing and I am really enjoying every mood.

Dried hydrangea blossoms left over from last summer. Not exactly a sign of spring, but it's what I found when I went out looking for some flowers to photograph. :-)

Another in my series on the distressed Hydrangeas.

The hydrangeas in our front garden, Lj's favorite, are producing a ton of blooms.

Applied raw linen, apple blush and necropolis textures from Flypaper, lightly masked from flower and jar- although new to textures and their application, it's really a lot of fun playing around with them and I very much like the painterly effect you can achieve for certain images.

One garden full of Hydrangeas, but all different colours!

The one on the bottom right is a Lace Cap Hydrangea unlike the others.

I did the top and bottom collages in iPiccy and then joined them together with PhotoScape.

Better viewed large and thank you for your favourites. :O)

Good morning everyone .

While Hydrangeas are considered the unofficial flower of coastal New England, they actually originated in the mountainous Japanese islands. They have their greatest species diversity in Japan, China, Korea, Indonesia, and the Himalayas. It is believed in some Asian circles, that giving the gift of a hydrangea is giving a piece of your heart to someone.
