Good morning ! We couldn't see milky way due to cloudy sly last night.

Tanabata (七夕, meaning "Evening of the seventh"), also known as the Star Festival. According to legend, the Milky Way separates these lovers, and they are allowed to meet only once a year on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month of the lunisolar calendar.

Hydrangea. For some reason I find this flower classic. The fact it changes colour depending on soil type. It has a stately appearance, and looks great either by itself or with many bunches.

In this case I think the bunch looks like a dogs head, but maybe I have an over active imagination

So much rain in one night... all flower heads were filled with water... for some it was too heavy to carry and so they bowed down to the ground. ;-(( The stronger ones like this one are still standing up! ;-))

Hi everyone, I hope my post finds you all in good health!

I have missed you all very much...for the last couple of wks I have been ill, with this dreadful virus that's been affecting so many....I hadn't been ill for almost four years but I sure made up for it, with this one lol.

Today is my first day out of bed in almost 2 wks and although I still feel quite weak, it's great to be up.

I will try to get around to visit you all and see what you've been up to!

Stay well, stay happy!

With Love

Nat :)

This particular Hydrangea thrives uncared for but supplied with it's own regular water by being directly under the rainfall discharge downpipe pipe.

The Hydrangeas did very well this year, although in general the heads are smaller probably due to the hot summer.

Now some have been dried and form a lovely dash of colour in the room.

Hydrangea, the name, comes from the Greek words "hydro" or water, and "angeion," or vase = water vase, they prefer a lot of water.

A very ancient plant, found in fossils going back thousands of years.

Flower lovers will know that there is a flower language.

Every sentiment is expressed in one form or another by delicate blooms.

Of course, even the experts disagree on the "true meaning" of many flowers and most have different meanings to different people.

So, while all flowers convey thoughtfulness and love, a gift of flowers for a special someone will always create its own personal meaning, too.

HYDRANGEA - Thank You for Understanding.

Have a wonderful day and thank you for your comments with all my heart, M, (*_*)

Hydrangea really suits rain.

As hydrangea changes its color from blue to magenta it is called shichihenge(literally, seven-changes) in Japanese.

what I love about the (tesselated) hydrangeas is that they are so very versatile. you can create a lot of pretty different optical effects.

I first noticed this when georigami put his hydrangeas on flickr. his first 3-layered version looks very different from his later 4-layered one.

his pictures were when I first got interested in this model. well, his and the ones by robson renê albuquerque and dassa.

anyway, I wanted to try differently layered hydrangeas on the same sheet of paper. when I had completed the first iteration of my model I was very happy with it (that's the one on the left). (so very happy in fact that I stared at it rapt for what felt like one hour :-D )

I then decided to do one more iteration. the effect was not what I had expected though. I actually think I prefer the earlier version. ah well, too late now...

Also known as Hortensia. I love the varied blues of this cultivar.

Happy Bokeh Wednesday! Thanks, as always, for stopping by and for all of your kind comments -- I appreciate them all.

Well, my wife's hydrangeas are blooming. She's really quite good at growing them. And I'm trying to get better at shooting them. ;-)

One garden full of Hydrangeas, but all different colours!

The one on the bottom right is a Lace Cap Hydrangea unlike the others.

I did the top and bottom collages in iPiccy and then joined them together with PhotoScape.

Better viewed large and thank you for your favourites. :O)

Hydrangea macrophylla is native to China and Japan. H. macrophylla blooms can be blue, red, pink, light purple, or dark purple. The color is affected by soil pH. An acidic soil (pH below 7) will usually produce flower color closer to blue, whereas an alkaline soil (pH above 7) will produce flowers more pink.
