Mount Hunter or Begguya is a mountain in Denali National Park in Alaska. It is approximately eight miles (13 km) south of Denali, the highest peak in North America. "Begguya" means "Child of Denali" in the Dena'ina language. Mount Hunter is the third-highest major peak in the Alaska Range.
Despite being much lower in elevation than Denali Mount Hunter is a more difficult climb, due to its steep faces and corniced ridges; it also sees far less traffic than its larger neighbor.
Some wider comps in comments.

My DIL sent me this image of our adorable Grand-Pup!!
I watched from pretty far away as these two hunted together. This is not the first time that I have watched a Coyote hunting in the distance with a Northern Harrier following him around. This particular Harrier was even landing right next to the Coyote and just hanging out. It is so incredible to watch.

Bryce Canyon NP. "The Hunter" is the name of the large hoodoo on the left. Bryce in winter time is even more spectacular than otherwise. The snow provides a striking contrast to the orange-hued rocks. In this shot, the angle of the sunlight helped make the image more 3-dimensional. Many of my other shots came out looking too flat.
A couple of duck and goose hunters heading out from Alviso, California.
In an area as urbanized as the Bay Area, it seems a bit unusual to see this, but it's not, really.
He is a real hunter! Several times we managed to save a bird or mouse that he caught, but more often he brings home already seriously injured birds or mice. He never eats them, only plays, but such games are deadly for the caught victims. But what can you do, a cat is still partly a wild animal!
Thank you all for visits, favs and comments, it's greatly appreciated!

November 2015 Challenge: Take a Walk or a Ride

I took this one just before we reached our picnic destination in the background, at the granite outcrops of Hunters Tor. One of the ponies was extremely inquisitive and followed us around, probably hoping to catch a snack (of course we didn't - Ranger code!). The walk is along Lustleigh cleave with some wonderful distant views from Hunters Tor.
For those interested: here the video of the walk, including the pony encounter: youtu.be/IujncL3F6-g
I hear the barred owls hooting often, and I’ve seen them flying in the woods but only from far away. Yesterday, this one decided to hunt from the edge of the woods right in the front yard.

We've heard that a Hunter competition's gonna happen soon at Evergarden Equestrian, so we decided it was time to go back to train ! I took this gorgeous lusitano mare for it today, she's a really good horse and mostly can do anything. Since she came at the Ranch, I have to say that I am obsessed with her !

In this monochrome capture, an osprey stands triumphant at the water’s edge, wings unfurled like a banner of dominance and grace. The feathers each etched in light and shadow form a living mosaic of precision engineering, a testament to nature’s aerodynamic genius. Beneath its talons lies the spoils of the hunt: a fish, still glistening from its brief escape attempt, now claimed by the master of the skies.
The osprey’s gaze is surgical focused, unflinching, and utterly devoid of hesitation. This is not a moment of chaos but of control, the razor-thin line between instinct and artistry. The ripples behind it whisper of the chase just ended, while the grass before it marks the stage of victory. In black and white, the scene transcends time; color would only distract from the raw geometry of survival.
This photograph is not merely a record of predation it’s a portrait of purpose. Every line, every contrast, every droplet of water frozen midair tells the story of a creature that lives by precision and thrives by courage.

The wading bird stands alone in a sheet of glass water so calm it feels more like sky than surface. Its long legs pierce the reflection, anchoring it between worlds, while the slender neck and sharp beak carve a quiet line of intent. This isn’t a casual stroll; this is a hunter at rest, a momentary pause in the endless calculus of survival. The muted blue‑gray plumage blends into the cool tones of the water, turning the bird into both subject and shadow, presence and echo.
The reflection doubles the story: one bird above, one below, perfectly aligned yet separated by that thin boundary between air and water. The negative space around it amplifies the solitude no reeds, no clutter, just pure, open calm. It’s a portrait of patience, of quiet focus, of a life lived in the margins where land and water meet. This image doesn’t shout; it hums, and the longer you look, the louder that calm becomes.
