Another great example of Glaswegian humor. Someone had the ingenuity to take a few ping-pong balls, draw an eye on them, and shove them into the empty eye sockets of the skull on a statue! Genius!
Unfortunately, one of the eye balls is now missing.

Me clowning around. Actually, I was performing a scientific experiment I'd learned on tv's "Watch Mr. Wizard" way back in the '50s. Alas, Mr. Wizard (Don Herbert) had died just days before this shot, but at least he was spared from hearing about my fiasco.
This was the first of the famous painted monastries that we visited over two days spent in Moldavia. we were completely blown away by the colour and the workmanship of all the artwork. It was a magical experience and one I will never forget.
I present to you a regular day in life of a fine specimen of the family Elephantidae, the flying elephant (Elephas volans), known colloquially as the plain big-eared sniffer. This animal spends its days grazing on moss on steep cliffs or climbing tree branches in search of tender buds. You can see how perfectly the colour of its skin matches the tree bark, which is a classic example of mimicry. After a productive afternoon feeding session the flying elephant returns to its nest for a much-needed rest.
