My first attempt at shooting humming birds hand-held. They have finally started coming around our feeders. I can't seem to work fast enough to get them in focus very often.
I'm posting this, not so much as a picture, but rather as an announcement.
* * * * The hummers are coming, the hummers are coming... to my photostream! * * * *
I don't know why I feel compelled to make an announcement. Maybe it's because there are VW Beetles, and there are formula race cars. There are birds, and then there are hummingbirds. Hummers are the souped up formula racing cars of the bird world! When my next door neighbor found out back in the Summer that I am interested in taking pictures of birds, she gave me a hummingbird feeder. I was sooo excited when they started coming to it! I have a few halfway decent shots that I will be posting here. They're nowhere near as good as many I've seen on Flickr, but they were the best I could get at the time, and now they're gone for the season. I can't wait til they come back and I can try to get some better shots of them. They're quite a challenge!

Hummingbirds Migration and Range Amazing Facts!
The Long Journey
Hummingbirds migration routes are amazing feats of nature. The Ruby Throated Hummingbird flies 500 miles one way, non-stop, across the Gulf of Mexico. The Rufous Hummingbird flies 3000 miles on its route from Alaska to Mexico. This is the longest route of any of the species of Hummers. They perform this phenomenal feat twice a year!

Important!
It is also important to note, (and will be mentioned in other locations on this web site), that keeping hummingbird feeders full into autumn, is very important. In fact they should be kept full until a few weeks after the Hummingbirds have not been observed at the feeder.
These little birds will stock up on hummingbird food before they leave and will be observed at feeders more often in the few weeks before they set out on their journey. Taking a feeder in, which some people do, for fear of causing them to stay too long, could cause the birds a great deal of stress. They will migrate regardless of whether your feeder is empty or full - so keep it full!

Humming Bird, practicing with the telephoto lens, not as sharp as I would like but they are fast.

Not my usual "flyer" but a fascinating moth. Its wings can beat up to eighty times a second, 4,800 times a minute, sadly I don't have the skill or camera that could cope with that.
My sweet Winter Hummer, a female Anna's Hummingbird (Calypte anna). I was sitting outside at the front door enjoying the sunshine this morning, when this little bird came in, hovered and checked me out for a few seconds. She then buzzed off to resume her hectic winter schedule of feeding. They must feed at least every 15 minutes of less to keep up their body temperature! Not much time for anything else in life!

Repaginei uma antiga blend dela que eu tinha feito
Tentei fazer uma coisa diferente e ficou igual a minha cara, mas enfim...
Depois eu posto o PSD, tem um trat meu. Eu fiz uma das texturas e um stock, felicidade.
I thought the humming birds had left but only the male has migrated. The female and the juvenal are still hanging around. I looked up info on this. The male leaves and the female and young build up fat for their flight and there is not competition. I notice the two of them where not battling like the male and female. I believe this is the female she has more color and the juvenal is very plain
