Photos captured at the Boston Women's March on Saturday, January 21, 2017. An estimated 125k women, men and children showed up - far more than the expected 25k. The weather was gorgeous for January in New England - 50's and partly sunny - and the mood was determined but happy.

This was a tribute to the bond between man and animals. This beautiful plaque was given to the ASPCA circa 1953 and hung on their Manhattan quarters until 1992. The plaque was later hung at the Greenwood Cemetery below the grave of Henry Bergh, founder and first president of the ASPCA in his honor and in celebration of the 140 anniversary of founding the organization.

I really wasn't sure what to call this (which is the back of a strutting peacock, in case you couldn't figure this out).

The early 15c south door "humility" entrance, believed to probably be the finest carved door in the county. It has Tudor roses, crockets and rich canopies. The Knowles shield is set between the emblems of St Luke and St John.

The South door is perpendicular and is probably the finest carved door in the county and one of the best in the whole country. It has tudor roses, crockets and rich canopies. The wicket is traceried and has signs of St Luke and St John. There are niches running from the sill of the door with mutilated figures of Saints and the Four Doctors of the Church (Gregory, Jerome, Ambrose, & Augustine). There is a lion at the bottom of the door and a stag at the East side.

This memorial marker is not far from my home. It's one of many throughout the area. I live in Illinois, the land of Lincoln. Despite the egomaniacal ravings of our current governor the state and its people for the most part are a fairly humble bunch. One of those residents, our new President certainly is an example of humility so far.

Lincoln is a study in humility and has been a very real example of its implementation in public life since his death. Each of these monuments remind me as I drive past them that intelligent humility is possible in a world inclined toward greed and self-promotion.

I hear a message from Obama and it's this: The torch of thoughtful humility has been reignited. I hear a question too: Who will help carry it?

Still on the theme of humility.

The Entry of Humility, the entrance to the Church of the Nativity. The door was reduced to its present small size (which requires adults to stoop upon entering) in the Ottoman period, to prevent horses and carts being driven through for the purposes of looting. As the name indicates, many believe this to be appropriate to the sacred site, as no one can enter it standing tall.

Humility … may this be our password (XII:169).

When you are older you will know that life is a long lesson in humility. - J. M. Barrie

I need to let God talk more often. I interrupt constantly, because I get the idea I'm better. Which is exactly why this counteracts pride.

I want to edit this later, when I get home and get Adobe. So never fear.
