Making the most of some regifted potpourri, a Pelagic Cormorant tests out its nest on Gull Island in Kachemak Bay near Homer, Alaska.
Sheyenne River in the Sheyenne River Valley - Barnes County, North Dakota. 2/22
The river winds throughout the valley, hugging a few abandoned farmsteads. The North Dakota Fisheries and Wildlife has a few fish hatcheries down here, one being at Baldhill Dam where the river turns into Lake Ashtabula. Many waterfowl protected wetlands as well.
Personally, I love there are many historic or culturally significant sites in this area. Fascinating to research and explore.

This photo is far from being perfect – and deliberately so. There's grain all over the place, which I have added purposely and sun rays without the sun being in the picture. I might have removed them in Photoshop but I didn't.
And yet, this image works for me. It speaks to me because of its flaws. Here, the result is more than the sum of its parts. After all, there's beauty in imperfection.

Enjoy!
I had the best day yesterday and it started with this. sunrise was 7:30ish but I was here at 6:00 because I didn't want to miss anything and wasn't disappointed. I've already seen several shots of this glorious sunrise so I'm going to lead with it's beginning. the birds in the surrounding trees were starting to sing and the ducks had just started taking flight when the first glow hits Rainier and it became visible after it's evening in the clouds. the dawn will become magnificent, but I think that it's important to remember it's humble beginning.

always try and capture the eyes. The eyes tell the story. So that is what I try to do]
Traveling in the Arctic can be a humbling experience. Yes it’s often numbingly cold, windy and inhospitable for humans. The isolation of some of these Arctic places is also striking. When you encounter the largest land predator on Earth, at eye level, and he stares right into your eyes, you realize how unimportant you really are. We thought this enormous male Polar Bear (Ursus maritimus) would be preoccupied with the member of his own species approaching from behind. Instead he fixed his gaze on us. A safe but humbling encounter.

Many of the houses in Bannock are small humble structures like this one. The town of Bannock thrived in the 1860's as a result of successful gold mining in the area. But the population of Bannock declined as gold and other minerals began to be mined elsewhere. In addition, the railroad went to a nearby town. Eventually the town became a ghost town. Due to the efforts of a few residents in the area, the properties were acquired by the state of Montana and made into a park for the purpose of preservation.
I've always loved daisies in all their forms, but the daisies that appear, without fail, every year in my lawn are possibly my favourites. There's something very comforting and familiar about the humble daisy.
This humble cabin is beside Echo Park Road in Dinosaur National Monument. There are no interpretive signs at this site. Because it is just one mile from the Chew Ranch, it is likely that this was occupied prior to the construction of the ranch house in 1940. It is near the junction of Echo Park Road and Yampa Bench Road--a very scenic area.

My little live holiday tree...I'm sure it's anxious for it's move to the great outdoors -- hopefully will find a good home in a container on my patio :-)
HWW!

God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God.
(1st Peter 5:5-6)
Mom said, we have to be humble .....
as she said that :
'The LORD upholdeth all that fall,
and raiseth up all those that be bowed down'
Psalm 145:14 (KJV)
Humble Days
If you set before me a vintage bike
I’d floral it up and give it a start;
Busy as a bee I’ll clean off that rust
And add a few little spare parts.
I’ll take it down to the beach at night
And ride along the boardwalk
Where everyone will awe
At my garden art!

There's a creature in my closet
I can hear him rumbling 'round
The demons screaming in the distance
Creates such a humbling sound
The monster that's outside my window
He's like family to me now
The things that people are afraid of
Never let me down
I took photos of this build a while back but haven't been able to do any editing. After about a year I decided to just post it as is
To God be the glory

:::... Lauv - Modern Loneliness ...:::
I’ve been thinking about my father lately, the person that he made me, the person I’ve become
And I’ve been trying to fill all of this empty, but I’m still so empty
Yeah, I could use some love
And I’ve been trying to find a reason to get up
Been trying to find a reason for this stuff
In bedroom and my closet, the baggage in my heart is still so dark
Modern loneliness
We’re never alone but always depressed,
Love my friends to death but I never call, I never text
You get what you give and you give what you get, so
Modern loneliness
We love to get high but we don’t know how to come down
If I could break my DNA to pieces, rid of all my demons
If I could cleanse my soul
Then I could fill the world with all my problems, but shit that wouldn’t solve them
So I’m left here alone
And I’ve been trying to find a reason to get up
Been trying to find a reason for this stuff
In bedroom and my closet, the baggage in my heart is still so dark
We’re never alone but we’re always depressed
