This was a summer day in Srinagar, where I saw this old Muslim man probably holding his grandchild in his lap, sitting outside the Hazratbal Shrine of Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. His son sitting next to him waiting for the bus to arrive to take them to their destination. They look tired, but the old man has a slight smile while looking at the child.
India is home to 100 million elderly people today. Their numbers are likely to increase threefold in the next three decades. Many elderly people in India are not aware of their human rights due to high occurrence of illiteracy & lack of awareness and this contributes to the infringement of those rights. Life is sad, life is tough, life is a burden, life is lonesome, but in the end, life is to live!

While on an evening stroll along the Lidder river bank saw this man taking his herd of sheep back home after taking them for grazing in the green pastures of Pahalgam. Seeing me with my camera, he stopped to look at me a couple of times while I was capturing his emotions in my camera. He looks visibly tired as the day comes to an end and he has to walk back his sheep home. Accompanying him were his two dogs, who were helping him keep the sheep from straying.

I don't know what it is but all my girls seem to love mushrooms - real or fake i guess.
Sally found these on the day trip we took on Friday, but I wouldn't let her touch them. They looked a bit poisonous with their icky oatmeal-like things stuck to the top.
Anyone know what kind of mushrooms they are?
The other day I took my hubby & son to the river so they could kayak. So Sally came along for a good photo op. As I headed to the riverbed, a little butterfly hitched a ride on her grover hat & wouldn't go away. It was so sweet!!!!
Sally Lisette was hanging on the fence looking for some cows on the farm. But grandma Becky doesn't have cows so it was pointless. But I didn't have the heart to tell her because she was so hopeful!

I won this amazing little girl at BlytheCon in Dallas! I couldn't believe it! I have to thank my friend Lisa for telling to get up and buy my tickets because there was no line. It was just the right time, I had bought 8 tickets and 916090 was the last ticket in my roll. Wooo!
In researching pieces like this, I've discovered this piece may very well contain hair from a child. The hair is very pale blonde and fine in texture. The reverse side is solid gold with no engraving. It is about 1-1/2 by 1 inch in size. It could be worn as a brooch or as a pendant on a chain.

So Friday, my hubby & I went on a road day trip. He loves to just drive after looking at google maps. He's a kayaker & loves scouting creeks & rivers.
So we went driving in rural Virginia, USA! Tell me this isn't beautiful!!!! Sally seemed to love it too.
Growing up in just outside of Los Angeles, California makes me really appreciate the beauty of rural America. I still can't believe I live so close to beauty like this! Gorgeous!

The Uyghurs are a very welcoming Muslim Turkic ethnic group living in Eastern and Central Asia. About 7,2 millions of them live in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region at the western extremity of China. Though the Uyghur identity remains fragmented, Uyghur activists like Rebiya Kadeer mainly try to garner international support for the "rights and interests of the Uyghurs", including the right to demonstrate, although the Chinese government has accused her of orchestrating the deadly July 2009 Urumqi riots. Six Uyghur men were sentenced to death after the riots. Uighurs are classified as a National Minority rather than an indigenous group and thus have no special rights to the land under the law. As a result of Han immigration and government policies, Uighur freedoms of religion and of movement are curtailed. Tensions between Uyghurs and Han have resulted in several instances of violence and ethnic clashes.
