The day my friend and I riding the bus back to NJ, there was the traffic jam right outside of the Linclon Tunnel, so, the bus was in a SLOW motion that it gave me a chance to capture this view by the Hudson River in Manhattan. At the time, the sun was setting on the skyscrapers there.
A composite of two artworks seen walking by the Avant Gallery in the Hudson Yards Mall, New York City. The flattened can caught my eye, reminded me of my energy drink work. I overlayed the Campbell's can with a work by Tim Tadder, his commercial/fine art photography is stunning to see. It's the head of a beautiful woman model painted white with blue hands wrapping around the head. Not much is identifiable here, the fingers perhaps, but I like the way the two images blended together in PS "Difference" setting.

I have posted the B&W version of this pano image back in 2019 when the Vessel had just opened. It was made by stitching a few 20mm shots together, the original is 10556 x 8359pixels, the detail is quite amazing and I think it's my favorite of shots that I've taken here.
The extraordinary centerpiece of Hudson Yards is its spiral staircase, a soaring new landmark meant to be climbed. This interactive design piece was imagined by Thomas Heatherwick and Heatherwick Studio as a focal point where people can enjoy new perspectives of the city and one another from different heights, angles and vantage points. The blue light offers a unique selfie experience and there is quite a line to take a blue selfie.
Comprised of 154 intricately interconnecting flights of stairs -- almost 2,500 individual steps and 80 landings -- with nearly one mile of vertical climb above the Public Square and Gardens, this landmark will offer remarkable views.

“Public spaces have been essential to my work for many years, because they have this tremendous capacity to connect people not only with art, but also with the great architecture that surrounds it, and with one another,” said Jaume Plensa. “When Stephen Ross asked me to create a new, large-scale sculpture for the lobby of 30 Hudson Yards, I said yes immediately. The eleven spheres that make up Voices are composed of letters from eight different alphabets, to inspire people with the idea that while we come from many places and many cultures, we are here as one community.”

Hudson Yards is a real estate development in the Chelsea and Hudson Yards neighborhoods of Manhattan, New York City. It is the largest private real estate development in the United States by area. Upon completion, 13 of the 16 planned structures on the West Side of Midtown South would sit on a platform built over the West Side Yard, a storage yard for Long Island Rail Road trains. The first of its two phases, opened in 2019, comprises a public green space and eight structures that contain residences, a hotel, office buildings, a mall, and a cultural facility.
At $25 billion, Hudson Yards is the most expensive real-estate development in US history. It's also one of the largest, at more than 18 million square feet, including 14 acres of public space.

10 Hudson Yards NYC - 2016 - Architect: Kohn Pederson Fox
895-foot, 52-story futurist office building completed in 2016. Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox, it was the first tower in the Hudson Yards complex to have been completed, because it is the only Hudson Yards tower not on the artificial platform over the tracks of the West Side Yards.
The prism-shaped building is clad mostly in silver glass, with a base of glass, silver metal paneling, and grey granite. The southern facade cantilevers over the 30th Street spur of the High Line, where one of the building's entrances is located. The tower bridges over the elevated park to create a dramatic 60-foot public passageway extending through the structure. Above this rises a dramatic 15-story atrium incorporated into the tower, spanning Coach's floors. The glass southern wall of the atrium serves as a visual anchor for the High Line.
10 Hudson Yards is connected to its taller sister tower, 30 Hudson Yards, by a glass enclosed, 7-story retail podium, home to The Shops and Restaurants at Hudson Yards. At the east end of 10 Hudson Yard's south facade, four enormous, granite-clad columns shaped at various angles support the cantilever over the High Line. At the west end, another structural element, this one with the glass cladding extending all the way down the street level, supports the opposite end of the tower, and together these frame the glass atrium. Five more granite columns, narrowing at their bases, form the east facade, with glass infill between them that narrows toward the top, in opposition to the stone of the piers. Above the High Line, the southeast-facing facet of the tower forms a wedge that narrows as it rises, angling slightly outwards before abruptly turning vertical as a narrow strip at the upper floors. The rest of the east and south facades have a serrated look, with the glass at each floor angling outward and overlapping the next floor.
The west facade sloped inward at the upper floors, giving the tower a leaning effect. The roof forms a slanted wedge, with two opposing triangles tilting down in opposite directions.

.. one more picture taken on the epic photowalk with my friend [https://www.flickr.com/photos/gaphiker] .. the buildings are close to the High Line Park in Manhattan .. I tried to put the old and just new emerging structure in contrast .. enjoy :)

.. inside the Hudson Yards mall with Steven Hromnak .. looking through this great curved window at the vessel and another fine structure .. enjoy :)
Not far from the subway entrance at Hudson Yards rests this beautiful bronze sculpture of King Nyami, which is the Swahili name for gorilla. The informational plaque says there are only about 1,000 of these magnificent beasts left on the planet. Their DNA is a 98% match to humans. Not enough is being done to save them. You can go to www.lovethebeast.com or #kingNyami for more information.

Made the climb today of "The Vessel" an interactive art piece designed by Thomas Heatherwick and sits at the center of the Hudson Yards Project. Can't wait to do it again!
154 flights of stairs
almost 2,500 individual steps
80 landings
Almost a one mile climb from the bottom to the top
There is an elevator to ensure accessibility for all but the fun is really the climb and seeing the structure from different angles.
As seen on my travels into the city and a visit to the Hudson Yard area with it's recently opened Vessel. The "soft" looking building to the right is the structure called "The Shed". One other note: the sky was white but i was getting tired of a white sky so I made it blue for this shot. I think it looks better.

Kind of a no brainer - surprised it took me this long to hit on this composite. Actually it's a pretty easy one in that it's only two layers, one shifted up and to the right, blended with difference in PS. Then converted to B&W for obvious reasons. I worked really hard to get the symmetry perfect on the other shots so it was nice just to let this fly a bit and see where it was going to land! It sure does highlight the fact that it's a fine line between order and chaos! Think this is the last shot you'll see of this amazing place - I doubt it...
If you have forgotten or this is your first time viewing my photostream: Things That Make No Sense are just that, assorted bits of amusement for nothing more than visual curiosity and my idea of what I call art or abstract art. Now a series of sorts, the series is interrupted with photographs that do make sense, or at least make sense to me. You can like them or not but they make me smile.

Still closed, after the 4th suicide in less than 30 months. Had been looking forward to experiencing this, but really my bad knee was not up to it, anyway. Hoping they find a way to make it safe. The Edge is much higher, but its glass walls are so high that maybe only elite athletes could get over them.
