So the Hover Bar kept on getting better. I have now found it to be most useful in controlling music surface. Here shown again with Griid Pro and the Ableton Live set of Orphion Ping Pong on the Dell U2711 monitor.
The great thing about the arm is that I can position it where my left hand rests way out from the desk. No more holding the 1.5 lb iPad 3 with two hands. Now this is how controllers should be. It is also useful with other music apps I own. Vibration is still an issue but otherwise I do recommend it.
This is working so well that I am thinking of having monitor arms for all my monitors now.

Home Office. I like a clean workspace with everything I need at hand. Here I can easily get to the phone, have a large monitor for primary workspace, an iPad where I can easily monitor my calendar, email, Twitter, Facebook etc, without taking up valuable screen real estate. I make great use of items from Twelve South to enhance the space, along with a bunch of geekery to make it more comfortable.
I needed something to hold the iPad for photography but could not find the Manfrotto suction cup which I needed in Hong Kong so I picked up the Twelve South Hover Bar at the Apple Store today.
The Hover Bar is pretty well made, but tapping on the iPad vibrates it slightly so it is not perfect, though it is usable. Using the the Air Display app I can extend my monitor to iPad’s high res retina screen. Switched on Lightroom’s secondary window display and I have an instant thumbnail touchscreen display next to my monitor.
Pretty sweet. The only thing is that scrolling the thumbnails is a bit slow but keyboard navigation is still fairly usable.
As usual, pardon the mess. Cable management is a huge issue here…

Running a little later than expected, as we had to see the bats coming out to feed at dusk from under the Congress Street Bridge.
Our first stop to watch the MSU vs. Wisconsin football game. Too packed, so we went to The Ginger Man for a drink.
