I don't know why I love shots like this ... strange old broad ... but love this common House Sparrow on the top of a parking garage. My Flickr friend, Joan, loves these birds. In Sebring, where I used to live, they ate me out of house and home at my bird feeders! I never had them here in God's garden, and I must say, that makes me thankful!

The wands of grass seed and colour in the bokeh make me think of fireworks as we approach the new year...

I take these for granted because I see them every day all year long in my back yard. I think the males have lovely plummage though. it was nice to get this one in a different setting than my deck rail.

Three house sparrows have used a rosemary bush to take a short break. Photographed in the Yorkshire Dales village of Dent.
