Blue hour is at dusk when the sun is at a significant distance below the horizon and the residual, indirect sunlight takes on a predominantly blue hue.

I've been trying to get out and take advantage of the light with the sun starting to set earlier. I got lucky with this shot. This little bee was kind enough to fly right into my depth of field which was only 3cm deep at the aperture and focal length I shot with. I saw it enter the frame and just kept shooting in the hopes I might get one in focus. I didn't have any focus points active on that side of the frame and never could have changed them fast enough.

It’s coming along, still have pain but better. I’ve heard it will take 1 to 1-1/2 years to fully recover to whatever ‘new normal’ it will be. Of course I’m praying for a full recovery!

You can review a reverse timelapse that features this image here. It's in reverse because the actual daybreak was less impressive than I had anticipated. However, when seen in reverse (as though it was a sunset instead of a sunrise), it looks much more engaging.

I was able to get incredibly close today to this beautiful bird in the Yorkshire Dales.

the blue hour, this morning in the Bossche Broek nature reserve with a view of the old court palace of justice

Podere Baccoleno during the sunset, now one of the most photographed places in Tuscany.

We stayed down there for 8 days and every night above the cypress avenue / driveway between 20 and 50 photographers gathered to capture the evening spectacle in the picture. And of course I was there on some evenings;-))

Today I show my 1000th image in Flickr, time to say thank you for your loyalty, the many comments, favorites and image reviews. I am very pleased.

This is what the bus spotters miss by packing up so early

I just love the Golden Hour sunlight on the White Ibis as it flies by. Ocean City NJ. rookery.

An exercise on blue hour lighting.

Starting the morning early at Boneyard Beach on Jekyll Island, Georgia meant leaving before 5am and arriving a good hour before sunrise. This has become my favorite time to shoot as it opens up a large palette of blue hour color. This beach goes on for miles and is lined with fallen trees, driftwood and rocks. The warm light over the water, reflecting across the cool sand, set the stage for these large fallen trees that seem to reach out and await the coming sunrise.

A change of pace for me- but saw this silhouette opportunity and couldn't resist!

Already drove over 2000km, waiting for the ferry to the other side of the Saint Lawrence Peninsula… It will take 2 hours on the ferry.

The trip along Saint Lawrence River, we saw the fisherman’s houses scattered along the coastline, lots of restaurants and motels closed due to COVID, less tourists during the whole trip…

The photo was taken at Cap-Chat, no sun in the early morning, but the blue hour morning light shining on the boat with cloudy blue sky…
