Thanks to volunteers from John Deere, 2nd-5th graders participated in the worldwide effort of an "Hour of Code" at Howe Elementary School on December, 5th. Hour of Code started as a one-hour introduction to computer science by engaging participants with one-hour coding activities. The second graders in Joyce Adamson's classroom spent the hour on their laptops by compiling codes to play Minecraft. On Thursday, December 11, Fleming Elementary Grade 7 students were engrossed in their tablets as they guided their little Grade 1 buddies through the wonders of digital computing. They were among tens of thousands of students around the world participating in the Hour of Code – an international initiative aimed at encouraging students to explore software development and coding.
