Thanks to volunteers from John Deere, 2nd-5th graders participated in the worldwide effort of an "Hour of Code" at Howe Elementary School on December, 5th. Hour of Code started as a one-hour introduction to computer science by engaging participants with one-hour coding activities. The second graders in Joyce Adamson's classroom spent the hour on their laptops by compiling codes to play Minecraft. "Coding is the basis for great American companies like Google and Facebook," the Ambassador said. "Cambodians are very clever and creative, and this is an area of great opportunity for young people and this country."

 

The Ambassador was joined by students from IT Step Academy Cambodia and Technovation Cambodia.

 

The Hour of Code occurs during Computer Science Education Week, which is held from December 5-11.

This event took place at the Alviso Library on 12/08/17. Children learned to code and collaborated together to navigate a robot through an obstacle course.
