CEA Project Logistics played host to the KONECRANES Generation C launch at their Free Trade Zone Warehouse in Laem Chabang Thailand.

The event, organised by the KC Lift Trucks division of KONECRANES drew a multinational crowd from all over Asia with more than 100 guests in attendance eager to see the next generation in lift trucks. Before the grand unveiling Patrik Lundback Regional Sales & Service Director opened proceedings by welcoming all guests and thanking them for their interest in Generation C, further adding “The Generation C lift truck is a collection of refinements and bold new technologies that improve our lift trucks in ways that make them safer, cleaner, quicker and more cost effective. We are very happy to be the first region outside of Europe and North America to launch the Generation C.”

The C series lift truck includes a completely new driver’s cabin with first-in-class features to enhance safety, comfort and productivity. The C series also boasts increased reach stacker lifting performance, an enhanced TRUCONNECT® remote monitoring system and improved engine performance. The C series is equipped with common platform diesel engines that meet emission legislation levels EU Stage II / EPA Tier 2, EU Stage IIIA / EPA Tier 3, or EU Stage IV / EPA Tier 4f. These new engines are in general several decibels more silent and can save up to 6% in fuel consumption over previous ones.

After the formalities a sumptuous buffet lunch was provided for all allowing some time for networking and the forging of new friendships. After lunch a presentation was given about Generation C to showcase the state of the art systems developed by KONECRANES which are featured in their new line of vehicles. As the unveiling grew near a traditional Thai war dance began increasing in tempo until the curtain was dropped and the guests got their first glimpse of a Generation C Reach Stacker, the unveiling was accompanied by a fantastic light and smoke show. As the smoke cleared the guests got up close and personal by being allowed on to the vehicle and into the futuristic cabin.

The new driver’s cabin offers operators class-leading spaciousness and superior visibility made possible by an even more ergonomic layout with integrated seat-mounted controls. The industry’s first 7” touch screen color display provides full truck monitoring including eco-drive, fuel management and driver login. The touch screen monitor also supports an optional integrated rear-view camera and tire pressure monitoring.

The CEA Facility was chosen as a venue due to their state of the art Air Conditioning systems installed at their Free Zone Warehouse in Laem Chabang, although temperature outside was a sweltering 36 degrees centigrade all the guests inside were enjoying a lot cooler weather!

Sixteen international students from the 2016-2017 U.S. State Department’s Community College Initiative (CCI) program recently gathered to celebrate the program and meet their “social hosts,” members of the community who have volunteered to share their time with the students while they are in the U.S.

Vicuna, Chile.

The lovely hostal where I stayed. This was the view from the door of my room. The garden was cool and tranquil - in the back were avocado trees and orange trees.

Vicuña is a Chilean commune (the smallest administrative subdivision in Chile) and city of the same name in Elqui Province, Coquimbo Region, founded during the government of Bernardo O'Higgins to secure sovereignty over the Elqui Valley. Poet Gabriela Mistral was born there in 1889. It shares borders to the west with the communes of La Higuera, La Serena and Andacollo, to the east with Argentina and to the south with Paihuano and Rio Hurtado. The commune is administered by the municipality of Vicuña, which is the principal city of the Valle de Elqui.

The area is dominated by a mountainous backdrop, and extensive plains on the valley floor, where high-quality grapes for pisco are grown, along with other fruits and vegetables. The La Punilla, Atimonate, Balalita, Los Tilos mountain ranges contain several peaks with altitudes over 4,000 metres.

Vicuña is a major center for pisco production. Cooperativa Agrícola Pisquera Elqui Limitada (CAPEL) runs the main pisco distillery in the zone. A few kilometres outside town is the Route of the Grappa, visiting the factories known as pisqueras: Ruta Norte, Capel, Mistral, Tres Erres and Artesanos de Cochiguaz. Franca and I visited the Pisco Capel distillery.

The Mammalluca Observatory located 9 km north of Vicuña, has tourist and education programs. We also went there one night ... I have never seen so many stars in my life.

The ceiling of the Chapter Room at the Saint Meinrad Archabbey in Indiana is almost beyond description. I'm going to have to make a return trip because I utterly failed to capture this room the way I wanted to -- I even forgot to take a shot of the whole room. It was overwhelming. Mom and I both commented that we would never be able to concentrate on a meeting in this room -- there's just way too much to see!

The Chapter Room is where the Benedictine monks meet to conduct business, and it's a long room lined on both sides with Romanesque windows and dark wooden chairs. The walls and ceiling are completely covered in amazing murals painted in the 1940s by Brother Gregory de Wit, a Benedictine monk visiting from Belgium. The walls are covered in scenes from the Benedictine Rules and the ceiling depicts Creation. Does it ever!

This is the final ceiling panel, and I'm torn as to whether this is simply the choir of angels gathering before the throne to glorify God, or if this is a little bit more Revelations. There are exactly seven angels, and a couple of them look a little cross, which makes me wonder if they are playing a joyful noise on those trumpets, or if they are bringing down some walls... In any case, it's a dynamic way to end the ceiling murals!

The Republic of Moldova hosts Multinational Exercise Fire Shield 2016 at Bulboaca Training Area, Moldova, Sept. 2016. Over the two weeks of the exercise visiting crews, including the NCNG’s 1st Battalion, 120th Infantry Regiment (120th INF) and 1st Battalion, 113th Field Artillery Regiment (113th FA), learned Moldovan tactics and techniques from their hosts and shared their own best practices with their Moldovan colleagues. “It helps us work together on the same task if we need to,” said Army Chief Warrant Officer 2 Kevin Adcock, a targeting officer with the 113th FA. Classroom instruction, drills and live fire practice led up to the conclusion of the exercise a multiple artillery battery fire with press and government leaders including Anatol Şalaru, the Defense Minister of Moldova, James D. Pettit, the U.S. Ambassador to Moldova and Daniel Ionita, the Romanian Ambassador to Moldova in attendance. “It is humbling,” said Spc. Mitchell LaPorte, a Soldier with headquarters 120th INF. Fire Shield 2016 is a multinational exercise intended to train combined, small unit and artillery units with more than 300 participants from three countries, Moldova, Romania and the United States. December 27, 2018 - I have never been a fan of the OAT Home Hosted Lunches as I have said before in my photo feed, however we had a very enjoyable lunch with this Christian family in Madaba. The lunch and conversation was very good. The daughter took a group selfie photo with all of us and I was the point person she was going to email it too. There was a communication breakdown and I never got the email. I was going to share the pictures I took with the family.

The Ariekene (Hosts) are the sentient species who live on the planet that is the setting of China Mieville's EMBASSYTOWN. Reading the book, which is an intricate mind-bending 'SF Space Opera' novel where semiotics and linguistics take the stage instead of Secret Technology and Planetary/Galactic War.

The species is 'impossible' for the humans to initially comprehend, and as I read the book, I felt I needed to take a shot at visualizing them. It was no easy task, as these process sketches indicate.
