The British Embassy in Bahrain hosted a Pink Garden Party to raise awareness of Cancer and funds for the Think Pink Bahrain Breast Cancer Society and the Bahrain Cancer Society, on 30 October. More than 500 guests attended the event which took place in the garden of the Ambassador’s Residence. Over BD 15,000 was raised on the night.

We would to thank the following companies and individuals who provided sponsorship, prizes and their services to make the night such a success: McLaren, Kempinski Hotel, Algosaibi Travel, Etihad Airways, Stake Shack, Into The Blue Dive Centre and Bahrain Football Federation. Ambassador Lindsay thanked also the donators of Raffle Prizes: The Outlet Shop, Haraka, McLaren, National Motor Company, K Hotel, Angela Murray, Lanterns Restaurant, Persian Rooms, GPIC, Ricardo Carrerra-Lowe, Yateem Centre, Elite Spa, Kempinski Hotel, Salon 5, M Beauty Lounge and Toni & Guy.

This is a photograph from the 9th annual running of the Meath Spring Half Marathon which was promoted and hosted by Bohermeen Athletic Club at Bohermeen, Navan, Co. Meath, Ireland on Sunday 8th of March 2020 at 11:00. The half marathon consists of a 11KM and 10KM repeated loop around the roads of Bohermeen and Oristown. The finish line is on the running track within Bohermeen Community Center. The course is a fast fair course with a few small hills. In 2016 the original course was 'reversed' which just meant that the traditional course changed to accomodate the large number of participants and the narrow country roads on which both the race participants and race traffic must both share before, during and after the race. Most runners agreed that this made the course much faster as a result. This is the second year of the half marathon only event. The major change for 2019 seen the half marathon become the only race of the day. Previously, there was a 10KM race option also presented. This year well over 1000 participants finished the race which sold out many weeks in advance. The race also includes the 47th Rennicks Cup (Men's overall team) and the 44th Father Delany Cup (Women's overall team).

The weather was a slight improvement on the very wintry weather of 2019. A very strong westerly wind contined and this was in the face of runners on the open stretches on the Navan Athboy road and on the additional section on Loop 1. There was also a very heavy hail shower at around midday.

Bohermeen AC is steeped in Irish athletics history since 1927 and it is this experience and exceptional community spirit and volunteering which has made this event today so successful. Having now organised the event for six years running it is certain that the event will continue to grow and expand become one of the mainstays on the Irish athletic club road racing calendar for many years to come.

This race takes place about one month after the Trim AC 10 Mile Road Race in Trim (just down the road from Bohermeen). Indeed these races truly kick-start the whole road racing season of fixtures amongst the clubs in Meath who are now famous for the quality and standard of the road races staged and organised.

On 11th June 2019, ESCP Europe’s London campus hosted the 5th edition of its annual Summer Soirée, this year celebrating the School’s Bicentenary of forward-thinking business education.

The event is dedicated to reconnecting and networking amongst the School’s 55,000-strong Alumni network.

107 graduates spanning from 1954 to 2019 attended the event, which was hosted at the DoubleTree by Hilton Tower of London’s sophisticated rooftop terrace.

The School welcomed Laurence Hollobon (96), HR Vice President of the Bel Group, who gave an inspirational speech. This was accompanied by a welcome address by the London Campus Dean, Prof. Simon Mercado.

Dean of ESCP Europe, Prof. Frank Bournois, was proud to share with ESCP Europe’s community that on 11th June 2019, the EFMD extended ESCP Europe’s EQUIS accreditation for five more years. ESCP Europe is among the 1% of business schools worldwide to be triple-accredited. The Dean also spoke about other achievements during the past year, including an 11th place rankingt in the Financial Times' European Business School rankings, and a 5th, 2nd and 10th place global ranking for its Master in Management, Advanced Master in Finance, and Executive MBA respectively.

Since the 2018 Summer Soirée, ESCP Europe’s London School and Campus was named UK Business School of the Year at the prestigious Times Higher Education Awards – known as the Oscars of the Higher Education sector. This follows the recognition of Highly Commended in the same category at the 2017 awards.

The event was a collaboration between the ESCP Europe Alumni Association, the ESCP Europe Foundation and the School’s London Campus.

The School is dedicated to continuously building on each year’s successes with the support of its community. After the success of its inaugural Fundraising Gala in October 2018, which raised over £220k and greatly contributed to the ESCP Europe Scholarship Programme, the School is launching a new edition of this event in its Bicentenary year. The ESCP Europe Bicentenary Fundraising Gala Dinner will take place on 7th November 2019. The funds collected during this Gala will allow ESCP Europe to grant scholarships for tuition fees to outstanding and deserving students through its European Scholarship Programme. Save the date!

We would like to thank all alumni, faculty and staff who joined us at this event. It was a true pleasure to spend time with you on an early Summer evening, and we look forward to welcoming you back to the ESCP Europe London campus soon!

Elizabeth, N.J., October 20, 2017 – Elizabeth Public Schools hosted a two-session New York Jets PLAY 60 program kickoff event for nearly 4,000 students at the Dunn Sports Center on Wednesday, October 18.

Play 60 is an initiative of the National Football League that encourages kids to be active for 60 minutes a day in order to help reverse the trend of childhood obesity. The kickoff event, equipped by Modell’s Sporting Goods, featured Taneka Bowles, wife of Jets head coach Todd Bowles, former Jets safety Eric Coleman, Jets Flight Crew cheerleaders, and a special video from the Jets coach.

Elizabeth Board of Education President Stanley Neron, Board Vice President Maria Carvalho, and Board members Charlene Bathelus and Paul Perreira joined central administration and teachers in support of the encouragement of students to participate in physical activity by the Jets organization.

Elizabeth Public Schools’ fourth and fifth grade students were treated to a fun presentation introducing them to the PLAY 60 program where they received a Jets backpack along with a game planner to track their fitness. Each participating student is challenged to complete 60 minutes of activity every day over a four-week period.

A video featuring Coach Bowles was played to encourage students to take part in the program and strive to be their best. Top performing students from each grade will be entered into a drawing for tickets provided by Todd and Taneka Bowles to attend a Jets game this season.

During the Play60 activities, a check for $25,000 from Todd and Taneka Bowles was presented to Elizabeth Public Schools to support the district’s Special Olympics Play Unified program. The Special Olympics New Jersey Play Unified program offers a broad spectrum of inclusive sports and physical activity options to ensure that students of all abilities can experience the benefits of physical fitness and recreational and competitive athletics.

Elizabeth Board of Education President Stanley Neron takes pride in the success of Coach Bowles and his willingness to contribute to his hometown community.

“Coach Bowles is a shining example of the message I always share with all the students of our schools, that they are capable of defying the odds and achieving greatness,” said Neron.

“We are grateful that Coach Bowles and his wife Taneka continue to give back to the Elizabeth community that helped mold him into the successful person he is today and for their efforts in establishing such a great partnership with the New York Jets organization for a very important cause.”

The PLAY 60 program reinforces ways in which Elizabeth Public Schools works to create a safe and caring environment.

“Elizabeth Public Schools always seeks opportunities to promote social, intellectual, and physical wellness to our students,” said Elizabeth Public Schools Superintendent Olga Hugelmeyer.

“We are happy to welcome back the New York Jets PLAY 60 program as a vehicle to encourage our young students to stay active.”
