This was a 16th century hospice to cater for the downtrodden and pilgrims and was founded by Ferdinand and Isabella, the Catholic Kings, in 1499. It is now a Parador, an upmarket hotel in this prime spot. This is considered the oldest hotel in the world. It is one of the four buildings surrounding the Praza do Obradoiro; the other three being the Cathedral, the Rajoy Palace and San Jeronimo College.

The Star Casino hosts Renae Ayris - Miss Universe Sydney, Australia
Echo Entertainment is apparently more about entertainment than gambling these days, casino tie in or not, and tonight its party time at The Star. This is most assuredly worth taking a gamble on. There's a strong chance that by the time you stop parting you would have had an absolute blast.
They have hosted countless international acts and acted as home to the Hollywood and Las Vegas stars where they come down under to Sin City Sydney.
Seems a nature that the new Miss Universe Australia, Renae Ayris, and friends should be in the celebrity mix to show their faces on a Friday night at The Star.
They continue to push the celebrity card, and then there's the nightclubs, bars, slots, games and The Darling - the 5 star hotel. It's all there for the taking. Work hard and play and party harder.

News on Miss Universe Australia...
Danver and photography lover from Perth has been crowned Miss Universe Australia.
Renae Ayris has been voted the nation's most beautiful woman and presented with a $30,000 Temelli Jewellery crown at a black tie event in Melbourne (9th June 2012).
She narrowly edged out Melbourne woman Mary Vitinaros, who was named runner-up.
The night saw some of Australia's most beautiful women take to the stage in swimwear and evening gowns before judges declared a winner.
Melbourne's hopes of a local winner were buoyed when two of the final five included Melbourne woman Mary Vitinaros and Victorian Julia Perrott-Clarke.
Ms Perrott-Clarke won the crowd over after facing a controversial question from former news presenter Naomi Robson about her views on gay marriage.
"I believe that everyone should have equal rights whether it be marriage or any other factor," she responded.
"Everyone has their own opinion and if it doesn't infringe on anyone else's rights then I think it's a great thing."
Shouting her final reply she ended by saying.
"If they are in love, then they should celebrate that love and if that means marriage, then they should get married because it's amazing."
The response saw her named 4th runner-up.
Strutting their stuff in evening gowns in front of a crowd in the hundreds in the Melbourne Sofitel's Grand Ballroom the finalists wowed the room.
The panel responsible for naming the winner included actress and model Annalise Braakensiek, actor Vince Collosimo and fashion designer Wayne Cooper.
The West Australian girl will now represent Australia at the international Miss Universe competition.
Thirty-three national finalists battled it out for the title, with the winner to go on to compete in the international Miss Universe pageant in December.

Everything is a blur - Miss Universe...
When Miss Universe Australia 2012 Renae Ayris received her tiara at Melbourne's Sofitel on Friday night she had the added thrill of accepting the title from her friend - 2011 Miss Universe Australia Scherri-Lee Biggs.
Ms Ayris said it was watching Scherri's experience as Australia's Miss Universe that inspired her to enter the pageant this year.
"I've always watched but last year I followed it really closely because Scherri was in it, she's actually a friend of mine," Ms Ayris said.
"I was so excited for her to hand me over the crown."
Dressed in a navy and silver cocktail dress by Perth designer Ruth Tarvydas, the 21-year-old blonde looked bright and fresh on Saturday despite having not slept a wink the night before.
The life-altering announcement still hadn't sunk in when she fronted the media for her first official press call as Miss Universe Australia.
"I'm so overwhelmed still, everything is just a blur from last night," Ms Ayris gushed.
"I'm going to wake up one morning and say,"Wow I'm Miss Universe Australia'."
The Miss Universe competition was the model's first time in a beauty pageant, but she has taken a shot at fame before.
She is an avid dancer who auditioned for a role in Baz Luhrmann's Academy Award-winning film Moulin Rouge!.
"I got down to the very last cut but I was too young," she said.
Being crowned Miss Universe Australia will open up other avenues to Ms Ayris.
As part of her duties she will be acting as the charity ambassador for Operation Smile, a children's medical charity dedicated to improving the lives of children in developing countries born with facial deformities.
Another official responsibility will be to represent Australia in the international Miss Universe pageant in December.
"I'll try my best to do Australia proud," Ms Ayris said.
There have been two Miss Universe title-holders from Australia, with Kerry-Ann Wells claiming the title in 1972 and Jennifer Hawkins in 2004.

The Star's tag line is 'There will be stories', and its a sure bet Star will keep living up to that if tonight was any indication. A casino matched with Miss Universe Australia, a media pack with snappers all trying to get the models attention, so you can just imagine.

President Peres hosted a traditional ceremony at the President’s Residence today to welcome the Christian leadership in Israel. The President offered his blessings to hundreds of Christian leaders, wishing them a “Happy New Year and a Merry Christmas.” The President also stressed Israel’s fundamental commitment to freedom of religion, in Jerusalem and the holy sites. Christian leaders in attendance included Greek Patriarch of Jerusalem Theophilos III, Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem Fuad Twal, representative of the Armenian Patriarch Archbishop Aris Shirvanian, Custos of the Holy Land, Friar Pier Battista, and Greek-Catholic Melkite Archbishop Elias Shakur.
The President addressed the Christian leaders: “It is Israel’s responsibility to make sure every believer can pray to his or her Lord without interruption. Israel is deeply committed to protecting the holy sites for every religion. We will not tolerate any offense toward any church, mosque, or synagogue. “
The President commented on the political situation in the Middle East stating that “I pray that we may form peace on the basis of two states for two people, living side by side, as good neighbors, in full respect and trust.” The President added that Israel is willing to begin peace negotiations with all its neighbors including Syria and Lebanon.
The President appealed to the Christian leaders stating that “I know that there are some differences between us, but there are also many similarities. By and large I believe that the religious and spiritual leaders that have assembled here today constitute a camp of peace… While we may practice different religions, we are looking at the same sky, and praying to the Lord. Use your good voices and strong spirits to overcome the great divisions.”
Lastly, the President stressed the need to fight discrimination: “I think the time has come to cross out any expression of discrimination. I wish that every young girl and young boy, Jewish or Arab, will have the opportunity to get the highest education without discrimination. I wish to protect every mosque, church, and synagogues as indepdenet, as a place of good faith, and not a place of extremism. I think we are taking measures to achieve it.”
Greek Patriarch of Jerusalem Theophilos III thanked the President for hosting the event and for his remarks: “events and gathering such as this one are of great importance for promoting values that are greatly needed in our present day.” Patriarch Theophilos III firmly stated, “rest assured that both the Christian institutions and leadership, in the Holy land, are willing to employ their blessings and resources in furthering peace in the region because we believe that this constitutes one of the fundamental commandments of our faith which solidifies our existence and determines our mission.” He added that “we are appreciative of the Authorities’ efforts in facilitating the access for pilgrims and worshipers and we commend them to continue and push further this holy important provision.”

Fort Indiantown Gap PA hosted the annual WWII Battle of the Bulge Reenactment January 27 - 30, 2011. One of my brothers and I drove there on the 29th. I was interested in portraits, and managed to take a number of decent ones, This year we could actually see some of the mock battle through the trees and undergrowth - and mass of spectators – so there are many shots of reenactors in combat roles posted. The sky was overcast all day, and it snowed most of the time...
What you see here is one of many photos I'll be posting of reenactors in US and German uniforms. (Please note: You may catch an occasional glimpse of a military swastika on a German uniform or helmet - not often, but enough that if it would be something you'd rather not to have happen to you, then I recommend you look only at the GIs & Brits.)
The Battle of the Bulge was a momentous and historic event that proved decisive in the Second World War in Europe. This collection of reenactors' images reflects modern-day individuals' passion to portray soldiers and civilians from the nations involved in the actual event - the Second World War, and specifically, the Battle of the Bulge. That was a meaningful time for all the men and women who took part in it. Honoring their memory is key to those who participate in this annual reenactment, recreating the zeitgeist.
