Thanks for everything. I know saying it on every image can make it seem insincere, but I really mean it. I enjoy sharing pictures with all of you.
The hospital was commissioned by the Southport Strangers Charity who established it using voluntary donations in Lord Street in 1806. It became the Southport Dispensary in 1823.
After the existing premises became too small, it moved to a new purpose-built building designed by Thomas Withnell in the Gothic Revival style in Seabank Road in 1853. Its name changed again when it was extended and became the Southport Convalescent Hospital and Sea-Bathing Hospital in 1862. It was extended again to a design by Paull and Bonella in 1881.
It served as a military hospital during both world wars. It joined the National Health Service in 1948 and developed as a treatment centre for patients with acute medical conditions, spinal injuries and orthopedic injuries. After the spinal injuries unit transferred to the Southport General Infirmary in 1988, the hospital finally closed in 1990.
The hospital, which is a Grade II listed building, was subsequently converted into luxury apartments and is now known as Marine Gate Mansions.
I shot this from my room at the Commons Rehab Facility in downtown Orlando. I have shot this same view every night for the last four days with my I phone. I think this is the best one. I’m going home tomorrow, so this will be my last attempt.
A hospital ward, could be anywhere I would think. It is functional too, as long as you know what kind of functions are included or excluded. Is a "sense of beauty" functional? Is a piece of art included in the functions offered by a hospital? A flower perhaps? Small things can make a big difference. Most important is the other thing one cannot see in this picture - the humanity of the hospital staff and the person-to-person contact between nurses, doctors and patients. Whatever the architecture. Heading for L-P on the "Hospital branch" in Newberry with 4151 and 2253 is WC job LO-42. This is one of the few times I shot a train on the branch although it seen service nearly every day back in WC days and still sees service a few times a week even in the CN era. November 12, 2000.
Located on the western side of Tiber Island, the hospital was established in 1585 and is currently run by the Brothers Hospitallers of Saint John of God. The hospital is known for having sheltered Jews during the Holocaust by diagnosing them with a fictitious disease called "Syndrome K".

I used to work here. This hospital unfortunately was closed a few years ago because it was over 100 years old.
For those of you that have been following my stream for a while, you know my mother has been having some health issues the past year.
For the last eight months she has been steadily improving. This past week she has had a set back.
So for the majority of the weekend this has been me.
I'll be back eventually.
This mural by Hendog, a graffiti artist who works secretly at night, was discovered in April 2021 on the wall of the hospital in Winchester. It is his tribute to the nurses for their work during the pandemic.
I am always happy to find a new mural by Hendog, who is sometimes described as Hampshire's answer to Banksy.
Here you can find those which I have discovered so far:

many thanks for any visits and interest
Luton and Dunstable University Hospital (just a fraction of its frontage). Over the decades, it has grown, more buildings were added, and space becoming ever more precious. The alternative would be to completely rebuild the complex according to medical necessities. For many reasons, however, the add-on approach was chosen, and this led to the highly complex structure we have got today. I am not complaining, I am actually grateful to what the staff are doing. You just need a map to find your way or find somebody giving you directions.
Patio interior del Hospital Tavera, en Toledo. Supongo que es una imagen muy habitual, pero no podía resistirme a esa línea de arcos. La luz del sol era muy potente, me recordaba a la luminosidad típica del Mediterráneo.
