This is a photograph from my visit to see my family in Bahrain. This particular day was National Day, the celebration of Bahrain’s independence. I was on an island reclaimed from the sea that’s been left to settle before it’s developed. It’s a place for walking, watching the sea, fishing, picnics. And, of course, riding. None of the horses were saddled. To me, this particular rider was celebrating his culture and identity in a way that was glorious. It was very moving.
I have a small series of this scene taken at Bandon Beach. My wife saw the horses and their riders emerge out of the evening fog while I was snapping photos of the sea stacks. "Turn around," she said. Glad I did!
Autumn morning in the woodlands of Highgate Common and I had got a few very nice shots and was thinking of going home when this horse and rider came round the corner and into view .....WOW was the first thing I thought ....it just made my day
Friese sjees / Frysian chaise
- the Frisian sjees used to be used in Friesland on Sundays to take the gentlemen farmers to church
- it was drawn by a single or pair of Frysian horses
- the box of the Frysian chaise, in which one or two people can sit, is usually richly decorated with wood carvings and folk painting and is suspended between two high wheels
- the diameter of the wheels is between 122 and 150 cm and each wheel has fourteen spokes
- the box is equipped with a special tube for the coachman's whip and has no hood
- bridles with richly decorated blinkers, matching withers and breast collars are used when garnishing the horses
- the horses must harness well while walking, that is: stately step and trot with a proud head and high knee action
These Relay races recognize and pay tribute to the spiritual importance of horses through their traditions and activities. At the end of the race the rider makes a shooting of an arrow and bow motion celebrating a win.
I was taking another series of the Sea Stacks along the beach in Bandon, Oregon when my wife said "turn around." Literally emerging out of the lingering fog and mist were two riders atop their horses moseying along the beach.
I spotted this young lady riding her horse at Borth, Ceredigion, Wales. I was able to track her down on FB and gave her a set of images, she was chuffed to bits as it was her first time on a beach with her horse.
Wait, you say. Isn't this the same panorama you just posted?
Well, yes, almost. But unless you had stared at it for a while, you may not have noticed the horse and rider coming out of the woods. I didn't want you to miss that, so in this version (I'll confess) I enhanced the illusion just a wee bit.
So now you probably can't really see anything else in the photo--not even in the original! I'm sorry. I probably shouldn't even have mentioned it. It is actually one of my favourite river scenes in the area, but I guess there is no going back now!
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I don't have to pitch my tent there. That's my spin on Psalm 23:4.

Scripps Miramar Saddlebred Horses: I is challenging to get a shot in the middle of the action all the time... The pacing and spacing of the groups more often than not moves me to one side.
We went out early this morning for a walk and my goodness was it chilly on Buck Hill. The young girl and her pony were galloping hard out on the heathland
The perfect harmony and collaboration between a horse and its rider. This ideal is often seen in equestrian sports, particularly in disciplines such as dressage, show jumping, and eventing. It means that the horse and rider fully understand each other, trust one another, and work together as a team.

Jesus came to bring spiritual LIFE to the spiritually dead and set the captives FREE! FREE from RELIGION, ERROR and outright LIES, so WE might serve THE LIVING GOD! In SPIRIT and in TRUTH!
So you'll KNOW, and not think you're to bad for God to love. The Christian LIFE isn't about how good WE are, because NONE of us are! It's about how GOOD JESUS IS! Because JESUS LOVES US, so much he died in our place and took the punishment for all of our sins on himself. The wages of sin is DEATH, and Jesus died that death for YOU and I. The good news is there no more punishment for sin left, we were and are all born forgive as a result of the crucifixion of God himself on the cross that took away the sins of the whole world. All we have to do is believe it, and put your Faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. That my friends is REAL UNCONDITIONAL LOVE! YOU ARE LOVED. ❤️ ✝️ ❤️
