A bull crosses Echeta Road as a pair of Burlington Northern SD40-2s hustle an eastbound “Z’ train past milepost 627 through Croton, Wyoming, on the morning of June 14, 1997. Croton is located between the sidings of Lariat and Echeta on the BNSF’s Big Horn Subdivision west of Gillette.

a red-billed oxpecker (buphagus erythrorhynchus) on the head of a cape buffalo .
oxpeckers are very specialized birds.they have sharp claws and short legs,well adapted for climbing on big mammals.
in fact largest part of oxperckers food is coming from the parassites of their big hosts,mainly ticks.
sometimes the bill is used for scissoring the host hairs .i love these birds and they are really useful in nature and fantastic subjects for
photography.

These majestic, gentle giants live in grasslands and savannahs. Originally native to Africa, they are now established in Europe, North America, South America and Australia. Their horns can span 8 ft from tip to tip. Seen in the Houston Zoo.
Beautiful scenery everywhere. These are "the Horns" and "Mt. Bariloche" as seen from a view point overlooking Lago Pehoe in the Chilean Patagonia. Marvelous area!
The Devil does Halloween. Or tries. He figured being "a smidgen too red" would fly this merry season, and he could just blend in with the myriad of devils, smurfs, and other people rocking body paint. Just one problem - gotta hide the all-too-real horns.

The Jacob is a British breed of domestic sheep. It combines two characteristics unusual in sheep: it is piebald—dark-coloured with areas of white wool—and it is often polycerate or multi-horned. It most commonly has four horns. The origin of the breed is not known; broken-coloured polycerate sheep were present in England by the middle of the seventeenth century, and were widespread a century later. A breed society was formed in 1969, and a flock book was published from 1972.
The Jacob was kept for centuries as a "park sheep", to ornament the large estates of landowners. In modern times it is reared mainly for wool, meat and skins.

Mt. Horn (404 m) in Snæfellsnes in W-Iceland. The geology here is dominated by a rock-type that is formed in volcanic eruptions under glacier - such eruptions produce a subglacial "soup" of water, ash and bits of rock, that sink to the bottom, and later gets cemented into a hard rock resembling sandstone. The geological term for this is hyaloclastite, a rare rock type that could be said to be volcanic, sedimentary and metamorphic.
