La Alcaldía de Chone, a través de la dirección de tránsito municipal, continúa con la señalización horizontal del casco urbano de la ciudad.
Este trabajo se inició con las nueve paradas de buses, tal como lo señala el Reglamento Técnico del Instituto Ecuatoriano de Normalización, en donde los municipios deben además destinar parte de la infraestructura vial a los peatones, con el fin de incrementar las condiciones de seguridad de este sector, y prohibir el uso y apropiación de espacios públicos como sitios de operación exclusiva para la prestación de servicios del transporte comercial terrestre.
Oswaldo Acosta, director de tránsito municipal dijo Este trabajo tiene un 70% de ejecución y el próximo 20 de Junio de 2018, debe estar concluida la campaña de señalización en la urbe local, donde se han instalado señaléticas verticales, horizontales, pasos cebras, y las paradas de buses, y taxis, indicó.
La Dirección de tránsito de Chone actúa según el reglamento general para la aplicación de la Ley Orgánica de Transporte Terrestre, Tránsito y Seguridad Vial.
Este reglamento establece las normas de aplicación a las que están sujetos los conductores, peatones, pasajeros y operadoras de transporte, así como las regulaciones para los automotores y vehículos de tracción humana, animal y mecánica que circulen, transiten o utilicen las carreteras y vías públicas o aquellas privadas abiertas al tránsito y transporte terrestre en el país, y en especial en las ciudades.
Según lo que indica el capítulo tercero de los Gobiernos Autónomos Descentralizados, en el artículo 29 sin perjuicio de las competencias reservadas a la Agencia Nacional de Tránsito (ANT) y la Comisión de4 Tránsito del Ecuador (CTE), los Gads ejercerán las competencias en materia de transporte terrestre, tránsito y seguridad vial señaladas en la ley, una vez que asuman de conformidad con el Código Orgánico de Organización Territorial, Autonomía y Descentralización, y demás normas aplicables.
Hasta el momento se ha trabajado en las paradas de buses de las calles Bolívar y Atahualpa, Atahualpa y Washington, alejo Lazcano, Ignacio Andrade y Páez, alejo Lazcano, Rocafuerte y Bolívar, avenida Carlos Alberto Aray y 7 de Agosto, y en la Atahualpa y Rocafuerte, y la señalización de varias calles céntricas del cantón, esta tarea se desarrolla en horario nocturno, para facilitar el uso de las máquinas y no provocar molestias en los peatones.

This was taken horizontally, at 3:30pm. It was a very hot sunny day. Before taking this photo, I was visiting my aunts 2nd grade classroom. It was the last full day of school, and all of the kids were talking about what they wanted to be when they grew up. I wanted to take a picture that represented that in some way, so I did that by using a globe. I know these kids will one day grow up to do so much good in the world!
