This is a horizontal section of the pin grid array. The section started by exposing each layer (from 1/2 through to 7/8). This is the dielectric between layers 7 and 8. You will see that there is severe fracturing toward the outside of the array, the center area shows almost no fracturing. the center area of this chip is mostly plane layers, there is copper on most layers throughout. The periphery is mostly signal layers, non functional pads removed
