An incoming Hoopoe. It was a wonderful experience watching these beautiful birds provisioning a nest full of hungry youngsters.

I took this shot in Hungary, a couple of years ago & I don't know why I haven't posted it before now.

The light was glorious on the morning that this image was taken & the field of golden flowers behind the bird made for a very attractive backdrop here.

One of my fave birds in Africa is the Hoopoe - - would love to get more time with them some day.

Seen a few variety of these - - Madagascar as well as South Africa. The Violet-Wood Hoopoe was my target bird but never did get a good shot although I did see 2 pairs at a distance.

I took this photograph a few years ago, during a shoot in Hungary. The bird was bathed in the most beautiful golden sunlight here, which also illuminated the field of yellow flowers beyond.
