And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years...

July 23, 2018...A beautiful sunset view, on a lovely evening. I decided to use this pictures, and hopefully you can see it, then realize how much you miss the world. To enjoy sunset with your loved ones, just like on the day when this picture was taken. On a peaceful day, from a hill above Sylvia Resort Komodo, Labuan Bajo.

...And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good. And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

More protests in Hong Kong. There are big clashes and confrontations between the students/protesters and police in the university campuses last week.

The big clash in Polytechnic University has not ended yet until mid-night Sunday 17 November. Everyone who is concerned about the situation in Hong Kong will stay up late in the nights and watch on the news and development of protests.

You need a lot of caffeine to keep you awake. Get caffeinated often.

Please please pray for Hong Kong and learn more about the pro-democracy movement in Hong Kong. It is the sixth month of pro-democracy movement since June 2019.

In the summer of 2019. both the flowers and protests are blooming wildly.

Chief Executive Carrie Lam of Hong Kong announced to withdraw the extradition bill. This is to address one of the five demands by people of Hong Kong. Protests continue in the city.

Have a good weekend!

Please pray for Hong Kong.

HKUST (Hong Kong University of Science and Technology) student Alex Chow Tsz Kok died on Friday 8 November after serious injury in the scene near a clearance operation of a protest.

There are so many unsolved questions around the suspicious injury of Alex Chow and also complaints against police in delaying paramedic rescue of the victim.

It is Remembrance Day and I could not help in thinking of all the protesters who have been injured or fallen in the pro-democracy movement since June 2019.

It has been six months since the Hong Kong pro-democracy movement started in June.

There is a huge victory of pro-democracy candidates in the District Council election held on 24 November. The United States has just introduced and passed the Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act in support of the Hong Kong pro-democracy movement.

Now it is time for reflection about what to do next in the struggle for freedom and democracy in Hong Kong. For sure the movement has not ended yet and the people will still go on the streets until all five demands are answered by the government.

Have a good day!

Hong Kong will have the largest citywide strike on Monday 5 August. This is to protest against the government and demand on the withdrawal of extradition bill.

The sun does not go to strike and flowers are still blooming.

Have a great Sunday!

The Hong Kong pro-democracy movement happened in the summer of 2019 since June. Many teenagers from high school and university participated in the street protests.

In the rallies, many young people have complained that they should have a summer vacation but they have spent the time in protests. This is because the government ignored the demands from citizens,

Who steals their childhood of our kids? They should be playing and enjoying the time.

Hong Kong has protests going on for a few months now. Nowadays they happen mainly on weekends. My niece from Switzerland, a Chinese friend, and I took a bus that was scheduled to go through the protest area in Tsim Sha Tsui on Sunday. The bus stopped a few blocks before the area, and the bus driver asked everybody to disembark - end of service due to protests. We walked two blocks towards the protest area. We only saw police in riot gear, no protesters. Over 100 of them, maybe 200. At one point the police blocked off the streets, so we could not proceed further. I took this shot from a higher vantage point, pointing out the militarization of the police. Notice the red painted letters on the street.

There is a big tension in the community between people supporting the yellow movement, aka protesters (mainly young folks), and people supporting the blue folks, aka the riot police and officials friendly to mainland China. This shot is symbolic, the blue police stepping on yellow.

We always need new ideas, This applies to photography. This also applies to protests.

The people of Hong Kong have used so many different ways of protests in the 2019 pro-democracy movement. They included the one million/two million orderly march rally, the human chain "Hong Kong Way", school strike, worker strike, hunger strike, singing choir in shopping malls, laser light show, candle vigils, the famous Lenon walls and many toher ways.

There will be more until the government responds to the demands of Hong Kong people.

I have witnessed the people using new idea for portrait with the mural.

This is the flower blooming season. In Hong Kong the people refer the widespread protests as blooming flowers too. The protests keep on going as the government is not responding to the demands of Hong Kong people concerning the withdrawal of extradition bill.

In November 2019 we went to Hong Kong. Protests against curbing freedom were going on for a few months, and happened mainly on weekends. I took this shot from a higher vantage point, pointing out the militarization of the police. Nowadays Hong Kong is controlled by China, freedom is gone, and there is a big tension between the well off older generation leaning towards China, and younger generation that has an economic hardship due to the high cost of living and difficult employment situation in Hong Kong.

I processed a balanced, a photographic, and a paintery HDR photo from a RAW exposure, merged them selectively, carefully adjusted the color balance and curves, desaturated the image, and added some vignetting. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.

There are so many teenagers participated in the Hong Kong pro-democracy movement in this summer.

Recently the minister of education bureau made the comment that the teenagers should not join the protests on streets and their parents should have coached their kids to avoid such political events.

They have asked themselves the right question: why the kids see the need to go on protest and demand for the change in political system. It is because the people's demands are not answered after four months of protest!

I saw the kid in pet supplies store, Her name is Cleo and she is only 6 weeks old. She has been adopted and will go to a good home very soon.

This is Sunday afternoon in Vancouver.

With the escalated force used by police such as real gun fires, the protesters in Hong Kong have also employed more lethal weapons for example gasoline bombs.

There are fires burning on the street when the police confronts with protesters these days. The police fired a lot of tear gas shots and plastic bullets. Many innocent people are wounded by poluce such as reporters and first aid crew.

However we have to be cautious about this. There are many reports that police dressed as protesters attacking other proetsers or even dropping gasoline bombs. Police also admitted they sent undercover to help arrest of protesters but of course they deny any wrongdoing.

I saw the flames in my neigbourhood this weekend as fall is getting xloser.

Does it help in solving the problem if you just arrest the protesters and put them behind the bars or into the jail?

People in Hong Kong asked the government to resolve the issue and the government responded with more arrest of protesters.

On 8 December SUNDAY, 800,000 people went on the street again and protested against the Hong Kong government. They asked the government to answer on the demands of democracy rights/

Since 9 June 2019, Hong Kong people have started this pro-democracy movement. There are the 1 million and 2 million marches and rallies in June. After 6 months, people still keep on repeating and repeating on the rallies and protests. It will not end until all the demands are answered.

Please pray for Hong Kong!

This is the repetitive pattern I see in my neighbourhood.

The preliminary result of District Council election shows that the pro-democracy camp has got overwhelming victory and has taken over 90% of seats so far.

However the District Council is not an authority that has legal power in deciding the election system. The five demands asked by the protesters are not answered yet by the Hong Kong government.

It is very lickely the protests will not be ending soon and this will be a difficult game to play.

Every time the Hong kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam comes out and see the press. She would repeat the same statement. She asked the protesters to stop the violence and reiterate the society needs to be restored to order. But she refused to address on the demands by the people.

Every time the police has press conference. They repeated the same statement. They kept on condemning the violence by protesters. When the police is being questioned about the use of excessive force, they repeated again and again that they have used only the suitable level of force even though all the evidence said differently.

If the Chief Executive and the police are just recording machines, there is no need for a real person. A poster figure will serve the purpose.

Is there a difference between the poster figure and the real person?

Can you connect to Buddha with technology?

When the Chief Executive of Hong Kong SAR Ms Carrie Lam was appointed in 2017 , she mentioned that she wanted to connect with young generation and the people of Hong Kong. By reviewing what she has done so far in response to the protests and demands by Hong Kong people on the extradition bill, it is fair to say she is totally disconnected.

I am lucky to be able to meet with the artist Pablo on the site in the Mural Festival. He is doing the final touch up of his artwork. It took him 12 days to finishe his work.

It has been more than two months since the pro-democracy movement started in Hong Kong. I feel like the millions of citizens are working on a big piece of artwork.

And this is not finished yet.

It has been more than 130 days since the beginning of the protest in Hong Kong. The pro-demoracy movement is not coming to the end yet since the government is not answering to the demands of people. This is like a difficult and unsolved chess game.

It is now the turn for the Hong Kong government to make a move.

Holiday season is coming. Wish everyone a good one especially those protesters arrested and kept in jail in the recent months in Hong Kong.

Many Hong Kong citizens have been writing greeting cards to them. Those young people have sacrificed their own freedom for the freedom of Hong Kong.

I had a holiday walk in Steveston.

It is going to be the sixth month of pro-democracy movement in Hong Kong. Hong Kong is now in the humanity crisis.

The police is assaulting citizens and protesters and also the news reported, social workers, paramedics and young people. They fire tear gas shots everyday on the street and also fire shots into residence and other premises.

There are many suspicious dead bodies found in the city and they are suspected as protesters killed by police. Many protesters have complained about violent abuse and sexual assault by police after arrest. The protesters are also denied of basic legal right for example to contact the lawyer and receive medical care after injury.

Now Hong Kong people have added one more demand to the five demands and this is the disbanding of Hong Kong police force.

Hong Kong government has put up more laws such as the ban on face masks and the ban on posting messages online messages inciting violence. These are working against freedom of expression and many worry about more to come on internet ban.

Please learn more about what is happening in Hong Kong and let other know about the truth.

Are the little Buddha led by the big Buddha?

There is a very unique characteristic of the anti-extradition bill movement in Hong Kong. The entire movement is not led by any political party or organization/ It is just initiated by people connected on the social media online.

The pro-democracy movement in Hong Kong has lasted for more than three months/ The government has not given in much except for the late withdrawal of the extradition bill.

However it has to be understood that there are five key demands and not one less will be accepted. 五大訴求,缺一不可!

The protesters are still holding on. This is the demonstration of will and power.

Today is 29 September. There are 929 Global Anti-Totalitarianism Rallies held in 40 cities around the world in support of Hong Kong -pro-democracy movement.

It has been more than 110 days since the beginning of the Hong Kong protests. We have not seen the ending of the movement and don't know where it will be leading to. Most of the Hong Kong people know that this will be a long lasting struggle for democracy.

I have been watching the news about the protest against extradition bill in Hong Kong. The police has been criticised for using excessive force when they are confronted by the protesters.

Police is always a controversial role in these situations.

I saw a less controversial police figure in the Stveston Classic Car Show.

Happy weekend!

Hong Kong government invoked the emergency law to ban the mask wearing by protesters and this has made more people going on streets for protests yesterday 4 October.

In the night 4 October, a 14-year old young man was injured by off-duty police officer with real gun shot. The police officer was seen driving a car and ran into a crowd of citizens. There was a fight between the officer and people.

This is already the second real gun shot fired by police and injured the protesters. Police has escalated on the force and many human rights organizations have criticised on this.

The 14 year old young man is actually not the youngest person in protesters. Before this, there is a 12 year old protester arrested. In this pro-democracy movement, the participation of young people is significant and key characteristic. About 30% of the protesters are coming from age group below 24.

I saw the young players in the Chinese chess competition in my local shopping mall.

The young people are great players, They are selfless and they fight for the future of Hong Kong. Many adult Hong Kong citizens felt they owe them so much since they have not acted on it for many years and let the situation deteriorates after 1997.

It is missing a big part of it when an opera performance has only the dance, the acting but without the singing.

The pro-democracy movement in Hong Kong now has the song in representation of the will and belief of people in Hong Kong.

It is called "Glory to Hong Kong".

The following is more background information on Wiki and the orchestra performance of the song.

October 1 will be the 70th anniversary of China's national day.

However there will be more protests in Hong Kong than the celebration of China's national day. The protests could be viewed as disgraceful act or even hostility to the country's anniversary.

One must ask why is this happening?

What has happened in Steveston on our Canada Day> We have parade and joyful cheers of people for the country's birthday.

The Buddha would be furious too. When the evils impersonate and appear as a Buddha. There is saying that "Kill the Buddha when you see one".

There were armed thugs attacking citizens and protesters in North Point and Tsuen Wan of Hong Kong yesterday. The Hong Kong police did not show up in the scene even there are alerts reported earlier in the day. This reminds people about the Yuen Long attack three weeks ago. The people arrested in last Yuen Long attack.are all connected to triad and orgnized criminal groups. They are charged with unlawful assembly while protesters are charged with much more serious rioting.

There are widespread suspicion of collusion between those gangster and the police force. The police did not show up in the scene immediately after report of attack. Police only came after more than an hour but no one was arrested on the scene and attacks went on again after police left the scene.

The evil could dress up and appear as the righteous figure.

Please pray for Hong Kong. Hong Kong people will have to protect themselves without the police force.
