This is me curled up in the corner of our L-shaped couch doing my homework. I put the highlighter there so I don't lose it. I would lose my head if it weren't attached sometimes! :)

For some reason I instantly thought of this fountain to start the homework, I have tried a similar shot before with a film camera, so decided to try again in digital.

Hello my name is Guada Herrera and here is my “Myself and My World” assignment for 2016. The first photo I chose to represent the start of my day is a picture of my work area while I do my homework and sip some much needed coffee. This picture was taken in the morning at Philz Coffee in San Mateo, one of my favorite places to get a mint mojito drink and settle down while doing homework. The second picture I took is of the staircase at my house as the morning light hits the curtains. I’m normally not a morning person, but I really enjoy how the morning light makes everything seem so dream –like and surreal. The third picture is of my local train station in the early morning. This is my view every weekday morning as I make my commute to school. I tried to capture the movement of the train as it passes through the station. The day I took this, it happened to be rainy which created a very soft aesthetic and granted me incredible lighting to take photographs. It was definitely a challenge to catch the train in motion. The fourth picture was taken at Foothill College around lunch time. I really enjoyed the way the branches and leaves looked. This project made me appreciate the little things more, forcing me to stop and look closely at the beauty in ordinary things. The fifth and last picture was taken at my job at a gym daycare. I tried to capture all the colors and playfulness that comes with working with children. I would say something I really enjoyed is manipulating light and capturing photos that show off natural light in the best way. I learned a lot about angles as well and how to fully show the beauty of a certain item or area. This assignment was extremely fun and strengthened my love for photography as well.
