Who says showers have to be boring? This remodeled bathroom in Edina, Minnesota boasts a number of features that are unique and fun.
We couldn't decide if we wanted it to look like real cedar or aged cedar. The aged cedar was my favorite but it matched my trim color so close that there really wasn't enough contrast. I put it to a vote and I was out numbered. 10-1. I was the one. So we painted it real cedar. It looks good but it's still not my favorite color.

This light bulb was in my parents' house when we moved in and probably installed in the late 60's. It was removed in the mid-80's because my mom thought that the fixture was ugly. It then rattled around in a box until earlier today when I installed the fixture in my house.

The floor is turning out way better than i imagined. The wood is absolutely beautiful and full of character. The first coat popped the grain and added depth to the floor. This coat looks incredible. Two more to go!

I used the colored boards in the bedrooms and office. They were a little trickier to install and eventually had to all be milled on the table saw to get them to sit right. I actually considered lightly sanding the flooring to maintain the coloring scheme, but decided to go with the boring "I will enventually sell the house" choice. The flooring is super solid 1" rock maple. Although its hard to see from this picture, the boards do not "match" up with one and other. They are slightly different heights. The guy I had sand it freaked me out saying that it may not come out looking good .... After the initial sanding, he changed his tune and was very excited by the quality of the wood and how nice everything came out.
