Homecare North East services are well worth considering if you require an extra bit of assistance. While residential homes provide a great standard of care, numerous individuals prefer staying in their own home.
Most people look into Durham home care because they don’t want the stress upheaval that comes with moving home. According to a study by Allied Health Care, 87% would prefer to have care carried out in their own home while only eight per cent would want to go into residential care.
Another reason why care at home Sunderland, Durham, or anywhere else in the North East should be considered is it promotes a sense of being in control. The individual still feels independent and they aren’t tied to any regulations.
Perhaps the main benefit associated with live-in care is that the patient receives a personal, one-to-one bespoke service. This ensures that the care is completely tailored to their requirements and needs. Live-in care also offers peace of mind for everyone.
Lastly, homecare North East services can be beneficial because they promote improvements in both the patient’s physical and mental wellbeing. They are less likely to experience falls or accidents, and they will feel less vulnerable and lonely.

Mannings Bakers "David Gould" The Valley Centre, Lancashire Homecare Services
Traders have called on the owners of the Valley Centre to keep their promise to come forward with a new plan to revive the eyesore shopping centre.
Owners Ashcap said they would publicly present an idea on what could replace the Valley Centre by the end of 2010 – but ended up delaying the plans because of the bad weather.
A crunch meeting to discuss five possible site proposals was due to take place between Ashcap and Rossendale Council – who both own land around the Valley Centre – at the offices of BDP in Manchester on Friday, February 18.
Years of delays: Valley Centre timeline
Oct 1962 - Plans released for a new pedestrianised shopping precinct, 24 shops, a supermarket, and a dance hall, with first floor accommodation for offices.
Oct 1968 - Precinct completed. More than half of the 30 shops over half are run by independent traders as opposed to chainstores
Dec 1974 - Shops at The Centre included: Shaws the Greengrocers; Hardman & Son (hardware & kitchenware); Ames Record Bar & Tape Centre; Kettle’s On Cafe; Number 20 ‘fashions for trendy females’; Tiger Lily Boutique; Card Drop Inn (cards, gifts, books); Nobbut Lads (men’s clothing); Mr Harvey’s (flowers, fruit & veg); Boardman’s (furniture); Lipton’s supermarket.
Aug 1983 - Facia boards and roof joists of canopy over covered walk at Kay St entrance collapse due to water penetration.
Feb 1984 - Lipton’s supermarket closes.
1990 - £500,000 facelift started by owners Barlows PLC of Cheshire – repaving walkways, new wooden seating, hanging baskets, modern lighting and a glass canopy over walkways.
1991 - ‘New look’ precinct is launched (Easter Saturday) renamed ‘The Valley Centre’.
Nov 1996 - Hanbury’s supermarket opens in precinct.
March 2003 - Hanbury’s closes.
Dec 2003 - Plans for a £12M revamp of town centre unveiled to councillors involves demolition of The Valley Centre.
Sep 2007 - Shock announcement sees the £40M future of Valley Centre thrown into the air as Jersey-based CNC boss David Kirch is to sell up to Irish fund management group Ashbourne.
Jun 2008 - Ashbourne Property Ltd says the ‘realistic’ start date has now been set following announcement that the government had given the green light to its plans to create 116 apartments, shops, restaurants, a cafe quarter and car park at the site.
Jan 2010 - Rossendale council begins CPO proceedings against Ashbourne subsidiary Ashcap in a bid to take the centre out of its hands
Aug 2010 - Talks back on, about how to breathe life back into the Valley Centre
Oct 2010 - Rossendale Free Press launches a ‘Time for Action’ campaign in a bid to finally sort out the Valley Centre.
Dec 2010 - Ashcap director Findlay MacAlpine promises to present a proposal on what will replace the centre by the end of the year.
Dec 2010 - A series of key meetings between the stakeholders of the site are cancelled due to severe weather
Jan 2011 - Bacup born postmaster Nick Moriarty announces that the post office – last business in the Valley Centre – will move out in March.
Feb 18 2011 - Traders, shoppers and the Free Press urge Ashcap to ‘sort it out’ ahead of Friday’s meeting in Manchester with Rossendale council, where five proposals as to what could happen at the centre are set to be discussed.

Adela Camacho of West Haven, agricultural worker and member of ULA
New Haven, CT -- On Thursday, August 26, 2021 at 10:30 am, union and community groups will host a press conference with Senator Blumenthal to demand a national economic recovery that centers our nation’s most vulnerable and essential workers, including a pathway to citizenship for those without status. The COVID-19 pandemic made visible how millions of workers — a majority of whom are women, immigrants, and workers of color — are essential parts of our economy, yet about five million lack citizenship rights and the ability to organize for better working conditions, and millions more lack living wages and safe workplaces.
President Biden’s economic recovery plan, Build Back Better, proposes a huge investment in building a new economy with good jobs for working families. On August 24, the House of Representatives approved the Senate’s $3.5 trillion budget blueprint, including a path to citizenship for undocumented essential workers, farm workers, and immigrants in limbo, including those with Temporary Protected Status (TPS) and Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). Citizenship for millions is an investment in the American economy and will boost wages, reduce deficits, and accelerate GDP growth.
To create good jobs for all working families, Congress must include in the final budget reconciliation package an investment in good jobs and a path to citizenship. Congress must also pass the PRO Act, strengthen the rights of workers to organize, and create whistleblower protections for undocumented immigrants who speak out about labor abuses.
"Congress has a historic opportunity to level the 'paying' field by investing in homecare jobs,” said State Representative Robyn Porter of New Haven. “The workers who care for our growing elderly population, who are mostly women, majority non-white, deserve equity in pay, benefits and worker protections. It's time to put our money where our mouths are, which means taking care of those who take such good care of our most vulnerable populations."
“I am forever grateful to have Temporary Protected Status, but much like COVID-19 has limited everyone for a year and a half, so my status has limited my ability to see family and plan for the future for a quarter century,” said Fausto Canelas, a Bridgeport office cleaner and 32BJ member originally from Honduras. “Millions of immigrants risked their lives throughout the pandemic so all Americans could live as normally as possible; we are asking Congress to honor our sacrifice by opening a path to citizenship so we can live normally, too.”
The press conference, which will take place on the steps of New Haven City Hall, will serve as an opportunity for policymakers to hear directly from members of their communities who would benefit from the Build Back Better Plan and would thus contribute to a stronger economic recovery.
National Domestic Workers Alliance (NDWA) is the leading voice for dignity and fairness for millions of nannies, house cleaners, and care workers in the United States. NDWA has four affiliate organizations in Connecticut: ULA in New Haven; CT Workers Center in Bridgeport; Comunidades Sin Fronteras in Norwalk; and Naugatuck Valley Project in Waterbury. Together with 20 faith and labor organizations, they are the Connecticut Domestic Workers Justice Campaign.
32BJ SEIU is the largest building service workers union in the country, with more than 175,000 members in 11 states and Washington DC, including 4,500 members in Connecticut.
District 1199ne SEIU is the largest organization of healthcare workers in the Northeast, with more than 20,000 workers in hospitals, nursing homes, home care and other health settings.

Lancashire County Council is backing a call to improve homecare for older people and people with disabilities.
Social care bosses have signed up to Unison's Ethical Care Charter. The charter sets out minimum standards for care at home, for the people who receive it and the workers who provide it.
The charter states that visits should allow plenty of time for tasks such as help with personal care to be carried out with dignity, and that workers should not have to rush from client to client.
It adds that people should have the chance to get to know their homecare worker and wherever possible, should keep the same one.
The charter also calls for better conditions for homecare workers themselves, including a living wage, a realistic allowance for travel time and regular, good quality training.
If you're a carer for someone, we want to support you too. Find out more about the help and support available from Carers Lancashire.

With the details on the health care reform bill still being hammered out by the U.S. Senate and House, home health care aides like Wendy Cerrato continue their work to help people. RUST BUSTER
Rust & Concrete Dissolver
Dissolves rust, concrete & water crust.

• No later formation of rust
• Easy to use: Dip, brush or spray
• No strong odor - Fresh lemon scent
• Does not contain HCL
• The safest cleaner for all steel, iron, aluminium & zinc
• Contains corrosion inhibitor
• Will not harm metal surface
Applications:
RUST BUSTER is a liquid concentrate to dissolve rust, corrosion, concrete & water crust. It also functions as a metal conditioner & cleaner. It is formulated specially for cleaning metal from rust, concrete and water crust while forming a film coating to protect the metal against later formation of rust and preparing the metal surface for painting.
Directions for Use on Rusted Metal
1. Remove dust with a soft wire brush.
2. RUST BUSTER can be used with: dipping, brushing or spraying methods.
3. Let the liquid stand for about 10-15 minutes, depending on the severity of rust on the surface. Use brush if necessary.
4. Flush with warm water after cleaning. Repeat process if rust persists.
Directions for Use on Items Stained with Concrete
1. Apply directly to the area to be cleaned with a brush or pump-up type sprayer. THE SURFACE OF THE CONCRETE AREA TO BE CLEANED MUST BE THOROUGHLY COVERED BY RUST BUSTER.
2. Allow the liquid to remain on the concrete until the cement matrix becomes soft to touch. The minimum recommended time is 20 minutes but treated concrete may be left to react overnight. The product will continue to attack the cement matrix even after the foaming action has subsided
3. After the concrete has softened, apply an additional coat of RUST BUSTER and allow this to remain on the surface for approximately 10 minutes.
4. Remove concrete with a scraper. If additional concrete remains, subsequent applications may be necessary. The final application may be removed by power washing. Concrete buildups of 1/4” (6 mm) or more will require multiple applications.
5. If treated concrete sets overnight, apply additional RUST BUSTER the next morning to re-soften the concrete. Leave the fresh application for 10 to 15 minutes then remove the softened concrete as stated above. Clean tools and equipment with soap and water after use.

Don Alfonso is very grateful for Albania's loving help. Quite a few homecare agencies fail to provide adequate medical benefits and training for these workers, many of whom are recently arrived immigrants. When one realizes what a poorly regulated lucrative business this is, one is struck by the heartless, short-term bottom-line philosphy of US healthcare. Albania has an incredible work ethic. Over the years she has grown to love Don ALfonso like her own. Some days she sings for him and he recites poetry to her. My people would say: "Que tiene una 'pasta' para este trabajo que viene de dios." Most days it's back breaking work for inadequate wages and benefits.

ARTIST STATEMENT:
These are part of an ongoing series of documentary images that memorialize the faces and lives of Latino elders in various community settings.
It's also a meditative reflection of my own aging process and awareness of normal and abnormal declines in memory. The nature of identity and the daily miracle of waking up in the morning re-remembering who I am.......
Memory is the basic stuff that anchors us to our being in time and space...... It's the link to where we've been. Unique to all other living things, it is the medium that holds our existential awareness of what we're all moving toward.......our mortality. Our spiritual journey, our humanity.
With any luck and longevity, impending mortality can become an advisor that sits on our shoulder nudging us towards the better part of wisdom....or sometimes simply stirring us awake to the moment.
In “Tuesdays with Morrie” ( www.randomhouse.com/features/morrie/ ) there's a cute story about this.
A little wave bobbing along in the great ocean....having a grand old time.....notices that the waves in front were crashing against the shore. 'My God, this is terrible', the wave says. Look what's going to happen to me! Another wave comes along and says: 'Why do you look so sad? The first wave says: 'you don't understand, we're all going to crash!.....All of us waves are going to be nothing! Isn't this terrible?' The second wave says: 'No, you don't understand....... You're not a wave, you're part of the ocean.'.......
This project is about the experience of feeling like a tiny evanescent “wave” in the ocean of humanity. It is a celebration of life in the face of the inevitable losses encountered in our human journey. It is a tribute to my Puerto Rican family and the memory of my parents, Genara Santiago Otaño and Juan Martinez Rodriguez
Beyond this, my friend Don Alfonso Rodriguez has been my muse and pivotal wake-up call to do this project. I thank and acknowledge him and all our elder friends and neighbors from the greater Latin American community and beyond. Most importantly, this work acknowledges the children, spouses, professional caretakers and service agencies (i.e., The Lincoln Square Neighborhood Center, NORC program) that make it possible for our elders to continue living in their own homes. To say the very least, our elders deserve to live and die with dignity.
The saddest part of all of this is the dearth of resources available to make this happen. The poverty rate in 2002 among US Hispanic elderly (65 and older) was 21.4 percent. Compared to other elderly in the US population), they are twice as likely to be living within the poverty levels. ( USDHHS www.aoa.gov/prof/Statistics/minority_aging/Facts-on-Hispa... )
Even sadder still, it's actually worse than reported when one thinks about it. This is because the operational definitions of poverty statistics are politically driven and often under-report actual poverty levels on the ground. Whatever the methodological or other reasons may be, they serve to lessen the culpability and shame of the established political and social order for this growing crisis. No surprise there, .....another “white elephant” hidden in plain sight, eh?
In so many ways, known and unknown, our elders are extraordinary, unsung heros, leaders, workers among workers, dreamers, mentors, nurturers....”Pioneros.... Yes, our collective cultural memory. I am living out many of their dreams. I am co-creating new ones into the future......right now.
All those who've been reading my comments and text, you will notice that the overall narrative is developing in response to your: “favoriting”, “views”, comments, conversations and interactions with me about this project. You are all an interctive parts of this creation.......thank you!!!
This long-term documentary project continues grow for yet another year..... Any ideas for project funding proposals.......promoting an exhibition, book or ";show-and-tell"..???... Let me know :~)
... couldn't have done it without your help.

MIAMI - JANUARY 06: United HomeCare Services home health aide Wendy Cerrato helps Olga Socarras get dressed during a visit on January 6, 2010 in Miami, Florida. With the details on the health care reform bill still being hammered out by the U.S. Senate and House, home health care aides like Wendy Cerrato continue their work to help people. They work with little pay but contribute greatly to help people live on their own and many hope that the new health care bill continues to fund the vital service provided by agencies like the United HomeCare Services.
