All smoke detectors are life saving, but some are better than others. Today we will be going over the differences between Monitored vs Unmonitored smoke detectors. First, let’s start with the benefits of Monitored smoke detectors.
You Can Have Alerts Sent To Your Phone
Having a monitored smoke detector means that it is connected to your security system. As with a security system, you can have alerts sent to your phone so you know if there is smoke present in that room. Also, if you check your cameras, you can check to see if there if a real fire, or if someone is just trying to fry some fish.
You Can Know Which Detector Is Triggered
Unlike an unmonitored smoke detector, your phone will tell you which detector was triggered. Unmonitored smoke detectors are all connected and you will not know which room is in question. Also, if you are away from home, you will not know if your house is on fire. You would have to rely on your neighbors, or having to check your cameras periodically.
Now, let’s get into the benefits of unmonitored smoke detectors.
You Can Save Money
People love to save money. Some even go to extreme measures to do it. The biggest benefit of having unmonitored smoke detectors is that you can save some money. Unmonitored smoke detectors can be as cheap as $1.00. Monitored smoke detectors can be as cheap as $12.00. It is not the biggest price difference, but it is still money saved.
That is maybe the only benefit of having Unmonitored thermostats. Overall, smart thermostats are better, but you can get whatever you want.
Now, let’s talk about the specifics of our smart thermostat.
The next generation of fire and freeze protection, this sensor provides smoke detection, heat detection, and freeze detection. This sensor is more customizable than previous models. It allows separation of smoke, heat, and freeze conditions, enabling the detection of one, two, or all three. The sensor emits an 85-decibel alarm and triggers a blinking red LED light. The alarm also transmits a signal to the Go!Control Panel, alerting you whether you are home or away.
Another good thing to get along with your smoke detector, is a carbon monoxide sensor. I know, this blog is not about carbon monoxide sensors. But, this could save your life and would go perfectly with a new smart thermostat. Let’s talk about ours.
Features an internal siren which will sound, along with the alarm panel’s built-in siren, when it detects harmful levels of CO gas. It also sends a signal to our monitoring center and alerts you through the app. This sensor protects you regardless of whether your security system is armed or disarmed. While ideally located outside each separate bedroom, a CO sensor should also be installed on every floor and outside the furnace or boiler room. Features a built-in 85-decibel alarm and a hush/test button.
Getting a carbon monoxide sensor and a smoke detector is a very life-saving combo. If you want to know more about carbon monoxide, check out our blog about the subject titled Carbon Monoxide: The Silent Killer. There, it will give you much more information about carbon monoxide, what it can do, how to prevent it, and gives a real life example of how it can be so deadly.
That is all you need to know about smoke detectors and carbon monoxide sensors. I hope this information is very useful to you. Don’t forget to visit Seeksafetynow.com or call 844-689-0667 to get a free quote and remember, Let’s Be Safe Out There.
We attached the LED rope lighting to the backboard hoping for a consistent light behind our fake window. The cut out in the back is to plug the lamp module into the wall. I did the set up with the master control before attaching this to the backboard.
