Traveling from Central Greece to the north, a stop at the holy land of Meteora, it seems necessary with so much beauty waiting for you to photograph it but also to calm down spiritually!

Excerpt from Wikipedia:
The Sea of Galilee, also called Lake Tiberias, Kinneret or Kinnereth, is a freshwater lake in Israel. It is the lowest freshwater lake on Earth and the second-lowest lake in the world (after the Dead Sea, a saltwater lake), at levels between 215 metres (705 ft) and 209 metres (686 ft) below sea level. It is approximately 53 km (33 mi) in circumference, about 21 km (13 mi) long, and 13 km (8.1 mi) wide. Its area is 166.7 km2 (64.4 sq mi) at its fullest, and its maximum depth is approximately 43 metres (141 ft). The lake is fed partly by underground springs but its main source is the Jordan River, which flows through it from north to south and exits the lake at the Degania Dam.
So for a change I did things right. I set up my composition, settings etc an hour before dark. There is a lovely large home that from this point of view looks like an old farmhouse just at the top of this mountain that fit nicely in the frame. I have wanted to get this house in a night image forever as I felt it had a village, Thomas Kinkade kind of appeal to it. I was excited as a kid when they put on every light in the house just moments before it became dark. But Hah! The fireworks went off and shot out of the frame so my perfect plan had to be adjusted in the dark. LOL This cross is about 50 feet in height but once again, I had to keep the zoom out and lose some of the perspective of size to get more color and drama from the fireworks.
I am a spontaneous person and I always think, oh gosh I need to learn to plan ahead but Murphy's law steps in I suppose and the plan changes LOL
Holy Land USA in its hay day had roughly 40,000 visitors annually. As I recall a local attorney bought the land and had the idea to develop a mini Jeresulam on roughly 18 acres on a mountain that can be seen around the city. Holy Land fell into disrepair and was heavily vandalized. In recent years there has been work to replace the cross. This new one, unfortunately, is not as big as the original though it now lights up in different colors for different holidays so it is a pretty view around the city and I really appreciate that I have this view from my front yard. :)

Walking ManMoving in silent desperation
Keeping an eye on the Holy Land
A hypothetical destination
Say, who is this walking man?
Well, the leaves have come to turning
And the goose has gone to fly
And bridges are for buning
So don`t you let that yearning
Pass you by
Walking man, walking man walks
Well, any other man stops and talks
But the walking man walks
Well the frost is on the pumpkin
And the hay is in the barn
An Pappy`s come to rambling on
Stumbling around drunk
Down on the farm
And the walking man walks
Doesn`t know nothing at all
Any other man stops and talks
But the walking man walks on by
Walk on by
Most everybody`s got seed to sow
It ain`t always easy for a weed to grow, oh no
So he don`t hoe the row for no one
Oh for sure he`s always missing
And something is never quite right
Ah, but who would want to listen to you
Kissing his existence good night
Walking man walk on by my door
Well, any other man stops and talks
But not the walking man
He`s the walking man
Born to walk
Walk on walking man
Well now, would he have wings to fly
Would he be free
Golden wings against the sky
Walking man, walk on by
So long, walking man, so long

Date Palms Of The Holy Land Date Palms are one of the sweetest most versatile palms found in the Holy Land. Clustered in the Jordan valley, you will discover extensive groves of date palms throughout the valley. They can be seen from the Sea of Galilee to the Dead Sea. They are found clustered around Lake Hula […]
Polearms:
When the king of the Holy Land calls the knights and nobles to his banner, they answer the call with bravery and religious fervor. They form great campaigns to strike at the heart of the forces of evil, holy crusades to relinquish the sickly hold on the world of men. These knights and nobles flock to the king, accompanied by their Men-at-Arms and peasants. These soldiers form the bulwark of any campaign and form in lines thousands of strong.
Although these lines and lines of sword and pitchfork wielding soldiers are adequate against other forms of infantry, they are poorly suited for defense against cavalry. For this reason, the king of the Holy Land has created and controls the Polearms.
The Polearms are the only true line-infantry soldier in the Holy Land armies. Trained from youth to serve in the kings own armies, the Polearms practice day and night in their line defense. Yielding long crafted pikes, these soldiers are excellent at keeping enemy cavalry bay. They thrust forward in several lines, able to strike at the enemy from multiple points. They are adorned in the kings own colors and sigil.
During battle, the king will deploy his Polearms to assist the foot infantry of the knights and nobles. Whether it be on the flank of the line to stop oncoming mounted soldiers, or interspersed throughout the center to hinder enemy movements, the Polearms are an effective counter that is effectively used as a staunch defense.
Peasant Mob:
The vast majority of the population of the religious region of the Holy Land are simple peasants. People who etch out a living in the harsh landscape and seek to redeem there souls in front of the ever constant evils that plague the land. These peasants are protected by the chivalrous and honorable knightly orders of the Holy Land, however, in times of war, they take their lives into their own hands.
They gather into mobs, groups of peasants with ripped and tattered clothes and rough features. These groups choose to not stand by idly while their lands are threatened by foes, but rather form a rag tag battle unit.
Armed with an array of farming implements like pitchforks, hoes, and torches, the Peasant Mob is used as a front line harassing unit, harrying the enemy as the knightly orders do the real damage. Fighting with a religious zealotry, the Peasant Mob stands in the face of evil, ready to protect what little they have left to fight for.
Hag Healers:
Not all that march to war in the Holy Host are men of combat like the noble knights or the dutifully men-at-arms. There are those who are healers by nature, those favored by the Holy Land’s religious patron. Most interesting of all, however, is that in a land of patriarchal feudalism, these healers are women. The noble and courageous knights fight to protect the female healers, the Hag Healers.
Also known as witch-mothers or damsels, the Hag Healers are a group of fey mistresses that dedicate their lives to the pursuit of holy righteousness in the form of healing. They accompany the Holy Host on their faithful crusades, tending to the sick and the infirmed. They are the true embodiment of all things good and wholesome in the Holy Land.
Marching to battle with their men protectors, the Hag Healers offer a supporting role in combat. They invoke incantations of protection and healing to the combatants, surrounding them with an aura of holy faith. Those who suffer wounds on the battlefield miraculously find their bodies renewed with energy and faith as the Hag Healers work their potent magics.
Wearing simple, but ornate, cloth dresses and wielding an assortment of staves, potent brews, and antidotal herbs, these witch-mothers are beloved by all who fight for the Holy Land and boost the moral of troops wherever they can be found on the battle line.

Warrior Priests:
The Warrior Priests are a religious order of the Holy Land dedicated to the adherence to sacred order and to the eradication of heretics and cults. They study their art of religous fervor and battle prowess at the militaristic city of Combatour. They dedicate their lives to the study of The Great Book, which is a set of teachings for the order, and pursue their dedication with an almost fanatical intensity.
Armed with warhammers called the Hammers of the Wills, the Warrior Priests stride into battle reciting passages from The Great Book, which give magical protections to the armies of the Holy Lands and root out evil heresy. Hooded and cloaked, they are moderately armored and wear the signature deep blue colors of their order. Many Warrior Priests bear the scars of religous battles and fight for the day when the Holy Land is cleared of all heretics and apostates. Onward, to persecution!
Fishing boat with fishermen's equipment on the river bank in the morning at Karnafuli river (Kaptai). When fishermen fish in the fog-covered river in the winter morning, an unearthly environment is created. It's like a heavenly morning.
The name of the traditional river of ancient Chittagong is Karnafuli. This river is an immortal witness of thousands of years of history. Starting from the eastern hills, this river has merged with the Bay of Bengal on the wide western side.
The scenery of the two banks of Karnafuli is amazing. Everyone's eyes will be closed. The only hydropower plant in Bangladesh has been built on Karnafuli.
Chittagong, the holy land of Bar Auliya and the green land of natural beauty, has developed on the banks of Karnafuli. One of the main reasons for this beauty of Chittagong is Karnafuli. The port built on the banks of this river is economically important. Chittagong port is very old. The river is losing its romance. The river is only being attacked because of the profiteering people.

Trees help you see slices of sky between branches,
point to things you could never reach.
Trees help you watch the growing happen,
watch blossoms burst then dry,
see shade twist to the pace of a sun,
birds tear at unwilling seeds.
Trees take the eye to where it is,
where it was,
then over to distant hills,
faraway to other places and times,
long ago.
A tree is a lens,
a viewfinder, a window.
I wait below
for a message
of what is yet to come.
