Cordoba's Mezquita-Catedral, in English Cathedral-Mosque or Mosque-Cathedral, has been the city's Roman Catholic cathedral since the Reconquista.
Córdoba is a city in the southern Spanish region of Andalusia and the capital of the province of Córdoba. It was once an important Roman city and a major center of Islam in the Middle Ages. The city's most famous structure is the Mezquita, a huge mosque from 784 with a portico and Byzantine-era mosaics. The mosque was converted into a Catholic church in 1236, and a Renaissance-style nave was added in the 17th century. (Google).

Toledo is an ancient city perched on a hill above the Castilla-La Mancha plains in central Spain. The regional capital is known for its medieval Arabic, Jewish and Christian monuments in the walled old town. The Mannerist painter El Greco also lived here. Die Sicht ueber die historische Altstadt von Toledo, Im Mittelpunkt die Kathedrale etwas links davon die alte Festung, die heute ein grosses historisches Museum beherbergt.
Toledo ist eine alte Stadt auf einem Hügel über dem Flachland von Castilla-La Mancha in der Mitte Spaniens. Die Hauptstadt der Region ist für ihre arabischen, jüdischen und christlichen Bauwerke aus dem Mittelalter in der von einer Mauer umgebenen Altstadt bekannt. Hier lebte auch der manieristische Maler El Greco. Das maurische Tor Puerta de Bisagra und das Tor Puerta del Sol im Mudéjar-Stil führen in dieses Viertel. Córdoba ist eine Stadt in der südspanischen Region Andalusien und die Hauptstadt der Provinz Córdoba. Sie war einst eine wichtige römische Stadt und ein bedeutendes Zentrum des Islams im Mittelalter. Das berühmteste Bauwerk der Stadt ist die Mezquita, eine riesige Moschee von 784 mit einer Säulenhalle und Mosaiken aus byzantinischer Zeit. Die Moschee wurde 1236 in eine katholische Kirche umgewandelt, im 17. Jh. wurde ein Kirchenschiff im Renaissance-Stil hinzugefügt. (Google).

Gelnhausen, die Barbarossastadt, ist Kreisstadt des Main-Kinzig-Kreises im Süd-Osten Hessens. Sie liegt auf halber Strecke zwischen Frankfurt am Main und Fulda am östlichen Rand des Rhein-Main-Gebietes.
Mit langgestrecktem Unter- und Obermarkt, fünf erhaltenen Tortürmen und Teilen der alten Stadtbefestigung hat sich die frühere Reichsstadt ihr mittelalterliches Gepräge erhalten.
In der ersten Hälfte des 12. Jahrhunderts nannte sich ein (zuvor in Langenselbold ansässiger) Zweig des Adelsgeschlechts der Reginbodonen nach Gelnhausen.
Die Stadtgründung von Gelnhausen erfolgte im Jahr 1170 durch Kaiser Friedrich I. (Barbarossa), was ihr den heute geläufigen Beinamen „Barbarossastadt“ einbrachte.
Die Blüte war von kurzer Dauer. Die Verpfändung der Stadt durch Kaiser Karl IV. 1349 und der Dreißigjährige Krieg warfen sie auf regionale Bedeutung zurück.

Beechworth ist die besterhaltenste Goldgräberstadt von Australien. Sehr viele Gebäude aus dem Kolonialstil vom 19 Jahrhundert sind sehr gut erhalten und bewohnt. Sie prägen das Stadtbild von Beechworth noch heute.

Das Bild zeigt den Marktplatz von Erbach im Odenwald an einem bewölkten Tag. Im Vordergrund erstreckt sich ein weitläufiges Kopfsteinpflaster. Auf der linken Seite ist ein historischer Brunnen zu sehen. Die Gebäude, die den Platz umgeben, sind vielfältig: Links dominiert ein großes, hell gestrichenes Gebäude mit einem markanten Mansarddach und roten Sandsteinelementen, das als 'Gasthaus Zum Löwen' identifiziert werden kann. An diesem Gebäude ist ein Baugerüst angebracht, was auf Renovierungsarbeiten hindeutet. Rechts daneben schließen sich mehrere traditionelle Fachwerkhäuser an, einige mit sichtbaren Holzbalken und weißen oder grauen Fassaden. Vor den Gebäuden sind teilweise Außenbereiche mit Sonnenschirmen und Sitzgelegenheiten eingerichtet, was auf Cafés oder Restaurants schließen lässt. Ein silberner Opel Astra H und ein orangefarbener Lieferwagen sind auf dem Platz geparkt. Mehrere Straßenlaternen und Poller säumen den Platz. Der Himmel ist durchgehend bewölkt und grau.

Am 19. April 2023 empfing Brügge seine Besucher mit milden Temperaturen und einer ruhigen Atmosphäre. Der Himmel war wolkenfrei, was eine angenehme Kulisse für eine Erkundung der Altstadt bot. Die Straßen und Kanäle der Stadt zeigten sich in ihrem typisch malerischen Erscheinungsbild, das durch das diffuse Licht noch verstärkt wurde.
Brügge, oft als das „Venedig des Nordens“ bezeichnet, ist eine der am besten erhaltenen mittelalterlichen Städte Europas. Die Geschichte Brügges reicht bis in die Römerzeit zurück, aber seine Blütezeit erlebte die Stadt im Mittelalter, als sie zu einem der wichtigsten Handelszentren in Europa wurde. Im 12. und 13. Jahrhundert profitierte Brügge vom internationalen Handel, insbesondere im Tuchgewerbe, das Wohlstand und Einfluss in die Stadt brachte. Dieser Wohlstand zeigt sich noch heute in den beeindruckenden Gebäuden und Plätzen der Altstadt, die zum UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe gehört.

Die gut erhaltenen Häuser, Kirchen und Plätze erzählen von der reichen Vergangenheit der Stadt und lassen den Besucher in eine längst vergangene Zeit eintauchen.
Eines der bekanntesten Wahrzeichen der Stadt ist der Belfried von Brügge, ein massiver Glockenturm, der im 13. Jahrhundert erbaut wurde. Der Turm, der heute noch die Stadtsilhouette dominiert, war einst das Symbol für den wirtschaftlichen Wohlstand und die Macht Brügges. Vom oberen Teil des Turms aus hat man einen beeindruckenden Blick über die gesamte Stadt und ihre Umgebung.
Ein weiteres bedeutendes Bauwerk ist die Liebfrauenkirche, die mit ihrem 115 Meter hohen Turm das zweithöchste Backsteingebäude der Welt ist. In ihrem Inneren befindet sich Michelangelos berühmte Skulptur „Madonna mit Kind“, eines der wenigen Werke des Künstlers, das die italienischen Grenzen verlassen hat. Diese Kirche ist ein Zeugnis der spirituellen und kulturellen Bedeutung, die Brügge in der Vergangenheit hatte.
Das Herz der Altstadt bildet der Grote Markt, ein großer Platz, der von beeindruckenden Gildehäusern und dem bereits erwähnten Belfried umgeben ist. Hier schlägt das pulsierende Herz von Brügge, und viele der historischen Gebäude sind heute Restaurants, Cafés und Geschäfte, die Besucher aus aller Welt anziehen. Der Platz diente im Mittelalter als Marktplatz und Versammlungsort und hat bis heute nichts von seiner Anziehungskraft verloren.
Die Stadt hat es geschafft, ihre historische Authentizität zu bewahren und sich dennoch den modernen Bedürfnissen anzupassen. Brügge ist bekannt für seine Kunst, insbesondere für die flämische Primitivkunst, die im Groeningemuseum zu sehen ist. Die Altstadt ist auch ein Zentrum des kulturellen Lebens, in dem regelmäßig Festivals und Veranstaltungen stattfinden, die die reiche Geschichte und das Erbe der Stadt feiern.
